@TardMan158 FMSS is the School (Field Medical Service School) and FMF is (Fleet Marine Force) which is your destination. Once you pass FMSS, you're eligible to become FMF at which point you can be assigned to serve with the USMC.
firemanjoe39, great job on the FMSS video. Darn, its hard to believe that in Jan 1992 I was @ Camp Johnson learning to be a FMF Corpsman. The Barracks look the same, and I remember FREEZING in the water for the Litter O course. Thanks for a good video.
I was in the first FMSS class for the Korean Conflict. October, 1949. Built the Sanitation Trail. HMC William Sibley was the big enlisted dog. I was an HM3 at the time. Great experience. Left the school and went to 2ndMarDiv at mainside. If you're a student, have a good tour.
@navydoctrinidad I want to correct what I wrote yesterday. It was October, 1950. Sorry about that. The CO was CDR Armington, MC, USN I believe. We had a cold winter and the barracks had only coal stoves. (We had a 10 inch snow there If you can believe it) Have they put any heat in them yet? Place was closed from WWII until Korea flared up. At least we ate good with the Cooks and Bakers School also there at Montford. Have a good tour.
i have always wanted to be a fmf corpsman im a highschool sophmore should i go to a recruiter now or wait any positive responses would be kindly appreciated
You can't enlist until you 18 but doesn't hurt for you to get the info that you need now. Plus getting an EMT License will help you alot! Sence the main job of the FMF Corpsman is to do all the jobs that a marine can do plus practice emergancy medicine!
9:32 , there's a pair of porta potties next to the battlefield. but with all honesty, i wish i could be able to do something like this. my cousin is going off to boot camp this fall, and joining the marines. and a friend of mine is planning on going out for the navy and be a corpsman. good luck to them both, and all the rest who go into America's military.
you dont have to do fmf you normally get asked when you get to A school who wants to do fmf(fleet marine force) thats being attached to a marine unit.
i am enlisted as an corpsman i have not left for basic but i wanna be attached to a marine unit to but if your feelin real froggy look up SARC thats pretty much corpsman for the force recon marines thats what im tryin to do now!!
im enlisting as a medic and my army recruiter says i shouls rly talk to other branches. im starting to lean towards being a navy corpsman like my uncle was. one question, if i become a corpsman what are the chances i'll be attached to a marine unit, because its what i REALLY want to do.
corpsman r the shit im a army guy an id rather have a corpsman with me than a army medic the corpsman are on a whole different level than our medics good shit guys!!
Wow, alot different than the camp pendleton version. Only recognized Hm3 Clark in this video. Use to work with him in bethesda on 3w. Funny, saw him in iraq last year i believe. But anway, i'm out now, nice vid.
OMG thats me the bald dudge in the class room HM3 moore squad leader 1st squad 1st platoon ....the HM did a great job on that video mad props to my brothers and sisters good days
Look up 'fmss class 07020 1st plt' Great FMSS video. To future Corpsman Brethren, take care of yourselves, but, take care of your Marines first. Best friends you'll ever have.
im doing my pre med, and joining corpsman, because anyhting medical i like. And i was a seacadet, and i love the navy, also the marines, and yeah a little love for the shallow water sailors, the coast guard
is fleet marine force school hard? im joining the reserves, going off to boot camp in november, later hm school, and then i dont know what to do? the fleet, a hospital or take care of marines in the field?
There is nothing better than taking care of Marines!!Go green side and you will never regret it. I have been in for tweleve years and went green about four years ago and regret I didn't earlier in my career. FMST is a blast. There are some tough days but nothing you can't get through. Those days in school are some of my best memories. Go green guy!
I've enlisted for active HM rate and the entire reason is to go FMF Green side. I work as an EMT in So. California right now, but I can't imagine anything better than working with marines. The respect for yourself and from the Marines is beyond explaination as a Greenside Corpsman. The skills training is topnotch as well. Go green!

how long is FMSS?
hotshotob 4 years ago
Two months. Something like 28 or 32 training days. Camp Pendleton and Camp LeJune vary by about a week. So really depends on which one you go to.

This brings back Memories. Camp Johnson. I served as a devil doc from 90-94 with 2/2 and 3/2. Iraq, Bosnia, and a few other places on the map ;-)
81mm Mortars and then later on fast roping/rappelling.
53's, 46's, Hueys etc. My Marines respected me, and I ended up getting the Caduceus tattoo on my shoulder with "Doc" under it.
Devil Doc "Marine Regs" is the way.
Hopefully, they still do the "POW" part, and laying in the trenches waiting for the "enemy"overnight part there.
