Dr Sanchez has a very pleasant personality, he does not come out as someone overly impressed with himself - as is often the case with some individuals in the academic circles - and he does not overload his presentation with unnecessary scientific gibberish in a vain effort to impress his audience.
I really enjoyed and learned a great deal from his presentation.
On the P.E. issue around 21:00 I think you should be able to opt out of P.E. if you have an equivalent amount of activity. For example, I never took P.E. in High School, BUT I did have marching band. We practiced outside in the fall for 2 hours a day (about 8 hours a week + game days). On the drum line, I would car a 50 lb set of drums too. Lets just say that most everyone in band was in decent shape all year round because of how extreme the fall was.
Hi! Have you considered intellectus list building (just google it)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin got tons of cash pumping subscribers added to their list.
Anyone who watches this SHOULD read THe Sugar Blues, a marvelous little book that explains how BAD sugar has been to all of society since the before the middle ages !
REFINED SUGAR is a POISON!! I hope to be rid of the addiction within a year , completely. It takes time and it is hard to avoid added sugars in today's foods , even organics
I disagree with his definition of obesity as being "having eaten to the point of being fat. I think Gary Taubes said it much better, Obesity is a disorder of excess fat accumulation. Both sedentary lifestyle and over consumption are symptoms of metabolic disorder, caused by refined sugar and carbohydrates.
when I was visiting the U.S. I was surprised how fat the turkey and the chicken was.. listen: those animals are not supposed to be fat.. something wrong in with your farmers.. or should I say: food industry?
mm I'm wasting my #@%@@ time watching this just SCARE SCARE SCARE here's your body when obese your knees are destroyed, your liver is destroyed you have internal scarring and gall bladders everywhere, here's your heart this that blah blah. what a douche.
please look for "Sugar - the bitter Truth" on YouTube (the long version).
Carbs in denaturized forms are the reason for many diseases.
Insuline resistance is the body's natural reaction to carb overdose.
Pressing carbs violently into the cell with external insulins does only shift the place where the problem occures: no longer in the blood, but now in the cell.
Reduce Carbs!! (but not with proteins like Atkins) Avoid sugar, flower, starch, fructose. Eat vegetables, natural yoghurt
@maximilianUTU You contradict yourself a bit there, sugar - the bitter truth emphasises on the dangers of fructuose and sucrose, which is 50% fructose. This while at the same time, labelling glucose (starch) as something that we are meant to eat. People have been eating "flowered bread" for centuries. Diabetes has only recently developed into a pandemic. It's not the carbs, it's the sucrose/fructose.
@PFG666 Partly true: The milling and refining process to make bleached and refined (white) Flour was developed in the late 19th century, circa 1890. Just around that time things started to get bad. The sugar overdose in the 50s and beyond exacerbated an already growing issue exponentially. The problem with white flour is the extreme insulin swing, as the lack of fiber and mineral salts make sugar absorbtion nearly instant in the gut. That degenerates into insulin resistance and the usual stuff.

@Aethren one of the fundamental probles, is the absence of fiber in american diet. Most foods are refined for industrial purposes, such as the transport etc. In the proces, flours or rice are taken away their fiber and many other nutrients so the glucemic index (or whatever it is called) increase drastically as the absence of fiber speeds the carbohidrate asimilation.
@maximilianUTU Please avoid posting misconceptions: Atkins is not high protein, it's high fat. Trying to do a lower fat version of atkins is not only stupid (since gluconeogenesis prevents ketosis), but also dangerous. The glucose produced from gluconeogenesis also spikes insulin. High fat is not an issue in the lack of insulin, because it cannot be stored without it. Doing low fat atkins, however, will shunt all the fat you do eat right into adipocites, and cause chronic disease.
@Aethren Insulin does not make you fat, stop demonizing a single hormone, and fat can most certainly be stored without insulin mediation, nor do your insulin levels reach 0, or even come close to it. You do know that glucose can derived from triglycerides right?
@CivitasUltraAporia insulin and leptin resistance do. I'm aware that insulin is an important mediator and that it doesn't disappear, nor should it. the problem comes from constant overdose which leads to resistance (aka pre-diabetes). I'm well aware that blood glucose can derive from other macronutrients, namely gluconeogenesis is the predominant source during low carb intake for deriving sugar from protein chains to regulate blood sugar.
@CivitasUltraAporia It degenerates in progressive intensity as you get fatter, but it is a cause in and of itself. leptin resistance leads to feelings of needing more food, which in turn makes you consume more of what caused it (sugar rich foods), which downregulates leptin response and increases insulin overloads again, starting the insulin rollercoaster that occurs when your blood sugar climbs too high and then plummets. Watch"Sugar: The Bitter Truth" for more references.
@Aethren You aren't considering the root problem, you are only looking at symptoms. Overconsumption and sedentary lifestyles are the root problems. Lustig's contentions that fructose is the devil is quite erroneous. There are some great critical evaluations of that lecture, I suggest you look them up, or I could tell you if you wish.
my mother has diabetes, and she has lost her foot to neuropothy, a breast to cancer, and now we think it may have moved to her bones.. sucks, we have a genetic weight disorder in our family, im running all the time now, dont want dejavu
How come the video stops playing after thirty minutes? This is really a very interesting video, I'm learning a lot of things I only had inklings about, but now at last is put into a complete, coherent lesson!

This is a great video

@CivitasUltraAporia how do you explain obesity in early ages?,. Why ist there overconsumption?, the fact is refined sugar and fructose,
pedrosg92 9 months ago
@CivitasUltraAporia the substance that causes that is fructose and refined sugar, is so evident but unconvenient for the wohle food industry
