  • This is so sad. I have hand tremors, too because of my social anxiety, but it is nothing in comparison to what your husband is going through.

Has he tried meditation or activities that calm the body and the mind? I have been pondering on the thought that if we associated ourselves with our spirit and our soul instead of our body then perhaps such problems like tremors for example would cease to exist...

I send you my love and I pray that you will continue living a happy and beautiful life.

  • @Al3xander1111 Thank you Alexander. Meditation would only be of any use if there was no physical damage. Sadly my husband has fairly widespread brain damage. This tremor is the only visible evidence of it to onlookers.

As Bill always says, "if it was only the tremor he had, he could find ways of overcoming that", but his balance, fine motor control, memory and other major body systems are affected by the damage caused by a chemical poisoning event.

I wish you success finding a solution.

  • that why i never use a check book , i carry thousands of dollars in cash just to avoid this scenario.

  • ....it bcame worst when im having some physical exertion..or when im nervous even f not ...espcially when im writing...its so embarassing for me coz even juz in a smple task, its really2 hard to do..i notice it...i think 1st yr highschool....,right now im coming college lvel....already 16...and still suffering.....its really2 hard for me to hav this kind of disease.....m too young for this and it hurt me so much.......

  • @w0rth8 if you read further down, there are 2 others about your age have similar problems... try contacting them and see if they have ideas or suggestions you could use to deal with this condition better. Have yoo been to see any doctors? Seeing a Neurologist would be the place to start.

  • well then that needs to change. There are so many loopholes in the laws. So much conflicting information to its hard to know whats safe for you and whats not,

  • @Oozingmachismo24 ewg (dot) org (froward slash) featured (forward slash) 727 this organisation are trying to make the chemical industry accountable. They do not have to prove that what they make is safe. That is the job of the consumer... to prove that the chemical made them ill. And who can afford to that?

  • Chemical Encephalopathy resulting in cerebellum degeneration of some kind? I wonder..Man thats terrible. Is it at possible for his brain to heal somewhat?

  • Chemical encephalopathy from chemical poisoning, resulting in widespread catastrophic brain damage! The tremor is the only external clue to all his problems.

The damage is so diffuse that any significant healing is unlikely.

The chemicals have had a corrosive effect on the myelin and our consultant has said this is progressive, and further degeneration is to be expected.

A huge Thank You to the Chemical Industry, which does not have to prove its products are safe for use, check the law!

  • We were informed today that Bill has been awarded Workmen's Compensation. No money will ever replace the brain tissue damaged, or the life we lived prior to these incidents.

  • What was the chemical? How exactly was he exposed to it to cause the neurological damage?

  • There were several different chemicals. They included cyanide, malathione, organophosphates type chemicals ~ to name the one's I remember off the top of my head. The exposures were via inhalation and dermal contact.

  • Are the injuries work related?

  • Yes they are. His employers (obviously) deny it, but there is a paper trail as long as your arm detailing each incident. We are awaiting the final outcome of the hearing for workman's compensation.

  • No. Bill's tremor is NOT connected to asthma. Bill's tremor is caused entirely by exposure to very specific neurotoxic chemicals. These tremors are only the visible signs of his widespread brain damage.

  • I have tremors in my hands and sometimes my head shakes a lot. I've had this problem since I was 10. Mine isn't as bad as Bill's but I can say it's so frustating that people I work with notice it and point it out all the time. It's hard for me to keep having to explain to everyone my condition. I feel for Bill. God Bless!

  • Thank you it is really hard espically if i'm having a bad day like i am today.

  • I have hand tremors and it got worse over my school holidays so i went to the doctors two days ago and went back yesterday to have blood taken to figure out what is causing it.

I understand the frustration that your husband must go through because my tremors sometimes bring me to tears it gets that bad.

It is very nerve racking as i am only fourteen and the tremors affect my school life.

I am very sorry about your husband.

  • I'm sad to hear your story Nicola. I hope they can find a reason and treatment for your tremors.

Did you see the comment from AhLeeJi before you? They are 15 and have tremors too. Perhaps you could contact each other and compare things, and maybe you will both get ideas for dealing with this problem... especially as you are both still at school.

  • i have hand tremors too, im 15 y/o. and positive in romberg's test. anybody, what does it mean? im too young for this, and ive been searching abt hand tremors and that romberg thingy..i shud ask my doctor

  • i laughed for a lil im terribly srry seriosly..hope he gets better...god is with him

  • Sadly, my husband Bill will not get better. This condition is progressive and terminal. Unless he gets hit by a bus, this will be the cause of his death.

  • I have an undiagnosed seizure-like disorder that acts up mainly when I am exposed to chemicals like fragrance chemicals and plastic or rubber fumes. On occasion my right hand behaves like this, but I have never tried doing anything with the other hand while it is happening. I really feel for you both. Continue enduring.

  • Hi, I have started having a tremor mainly in my right hand over the last three months which is getting progressively worse. Can anyone please share any advice or experiences as I am starting to struggle to cope- last week I could not pour a drink or hold a pen and had to get friends to pour it and write for me. Thanks

  • What does your doctor say. Bill is unable to write or do any fine work with either hand. I have to do all Bill's writing.. checks etc. Don't have any great tips... we a still on a steep learning curve, every day brings a new challenge. I hope you find help and support.

  • Hi, thanks for your message, and a very Happy Christma to you and Bill. My doctor is pretty useless to be honest, I fully undestand Bill's problems with fine dexterity, mine is becoming progressively worse, a few months ago it was mainly with tasks like pouring a drink, now mine too manifests itself when I am trying to write a cheque or picking up a small item such as a pin. The specialist has said mine will most likely affect the other hand within 3 years as it is degenerative. Kind regards.

  • Happy Christmas right back at you. Are you any clearer as to why you have developed tremor? Are they calling it any specific condition other than "Essential Tremor?" This is one which they can't really find specific cause for. Bill has Chemical Encephalopathy. We found help from Ammerican Academy of Environmental Medicine. We have found avoidance of specific chemicals helpful in slowing deterioration. Maybe help to you.

  • I am sorry you're going thru such a tremendous tremor and yet you look so normal. You have my greatest blessings and sympathy. I, too, and undergoing a mysterious tremor/seizure. Please take care and wish you well and best. I hope you could apply for disability or medicaid or have a loved one support you.

  • Thank you for your supportive words. It is difficult when you look normal. This is the only obvious symptom of his massive brain damage. He has disrupted short term memory and has lost the ability to build long term memories. Ever seem "50 First Dates"? Bill's memory is wiped clean every 5-8 days. He is now graded as 100% disabled. Life is very different from how it used to be, but it could have been worse. The chemical exposure could have killed him outright. It never. For that I'm grateful...

  • suffered from ET for 25 years. ET=tremors. it's horrible. u looked into DBS? i cant afford cause i cant get a job because of ET, the catch 22. contact me if u need i have tried everything... western med drugs, alcohol, eastern med, deep breathing exercises, i was an athlete, meditation, homeopathy/naturopath/energy worker. none of it stopped it, cured it. cant gain employment N i know its cuz of ET. cant get a CAREER ever only menial lousy jobs, not even that now, they focus on head shaking.

  • I have the same damnd things. I have had'em all my life, but as my brain disease worsens....they are too. I hate it when people make fun of'em or take even notice of'em. They'd notice it less if I had no hands at all. Trust me, I've been to LOTS of Dr.'s also ~~~~~~~~~~Nothing can be done for me. Good luck to anyone else out there.

  • poor him take him to doctor i know there is treatment for it

    godbless

  • Leon6266: We have been to doctors, we have spent thousands of dollars on them. They all say one thing, for chemical brain damage there is no cure nor treatment.

    Thankyou for your concern.

  • Been there done that also.
