  • @gokce2112 Thanks A Million for you info!

  • Andy Timmons!!!!

  • Simon is an excellent drummer who I think is often forgotten about except among music industry people. He played on Jeff Beck's 1980 album There & Back and just jams on that like no tomorrow. It's great that he does teaching of drums and lesson videos. Great clarity on this video, thanks.

  • love the tone in the soprano-sax at 1:42

  • 3'22" is flipping so nice, totally nailed groove or what - if only it didn't fade out, arghhhhhh. That drum set is a work of pure art, and sounds really outstanding.

  • HE LOOKS SO TINY IN THAT BIG ASS DRUMSET

  • OMG FUCKING AWESOM I LOVE DRUMS !

  • Subscribe to Flood the Drummer; and stay tuned for more info on DRUMDUEL; 9.3.11

    @floodthedrummer

  • Thats one space station of a drumset.

  • I really like the beat that he does at the end, the rythm is quite uniqe and interesting.

  • oh no ! Surreptitious advertising for Ed hardy??? Simon, why...?

  • Shit man they've even got Ndugu in that band!

  • 3:03 hahahaha that fucking shirt is killing me

  • is this video?? Epic??? .... YES?xD

  • This should really become a band, Andy on guitar, Simon on drums and well I don't know the name of the bassist and sax player but they are awesome. Hopefully they work together in more projects.

  • I met him 2 years ago and guys ... he is not only a great drummer he is also a humble and very nice guy ...

  • i was at this show and let me tell you, simon is an absolute incredible drummer! one of the best! ndugu on the other hand kinda bragged about himself a little too much.

  • @JakeMyBoy33 NDUGU has that right he's played with the most outstanding bands and musicians in the WORLD...!!!

  • @townclose : it's from his Out of the blue live album, it's awesome!!

  • @townclose "Kumi Na Moja" from Simon's "Another Lifetime"

  • He moves his body as same as Mike Mangini. :D

  • Phillps is a gr8 drummer and he has been so for over 30 years. The fact that Modern Drummer have givng him guest spots at there shows speak volumes about his abillty. Truly one of the gr8 drummers.

  • I LOVE how the tone of the saxophone and the tone of the guitar mix so well together. what amazing musicians

  • is that GAVIN HARRISON hes talking to?????!!!!!

  • @JaskaJunior Yes.

  • @JaskaJunior

    YES hi is it

  • @JaskaJunior yea i knew

  • his technique is a little unorthodox but it is actually really cool at the same time

  • very true what simon says......

  • Why is his symbols so high? Geez, he needs a step stool to get all the way up there. LOL

  • Simon, Ndugu, and Billy? That's too much groove for one stage. What a great coming together.

  • he is better and better day by day like the good wine:)

  • great fucking sound damn!

  • Damn, Simon sure likes Ed Hardy!!

  • his set looks like it's a pain in the ass to play! even for him. haha

  • I do have to say, though I'm not a "fan" of the music genre, I love watching videos like this, because there's just so much you can take from listening to the experienced drummers from all the genre's of music, and apply it to whatever it is that you're doing in whatever project you have going. Whether that's putting a soft triplet double kick pattern to a jazz lick, or swinging a Whitechapel song, it can all be used to make yourself a better drummer and all around musician.

  • @Drumlord009 i agree with you completely and also getting their great words of wisdom.

  • One of the best and has the catchiest flares for rhythm...love him with Priest to Townshend...he makes everyone sound unique.Love ya Simon!!!

  • Do you know which Priest albums he played on? I've always been curious but have never heard what ones. I'd guess British Steel from the tone and authority of those tracks.

  • Hi Bakersfeast!!! Simon did the studio album Sin After Sin 1977 CBS Records....British Steel was Dave Holland, who was on the majority of Priest's LP's...Rock On!!

  • thats...andy timmons on guitar..

  • Yeah Simon!...

  • He vhas incredible gift of rhythm. I admire. Ahead of his time, cant find the right musicians to challenge him to be even greater. He ever jammed with Geddy & Alex, or Eddie VH ?

  • is that gavin harrison giving him the interveiw at 1:05? xD

  • Yes.

  • simon philips is amazing, that song was amazing.

  • isn't the BALD dude at the end, Billy Ward?!?!?!

  • Yes

  • wow, i've never heard these songs performed live before. I grew up listening and practicing along to these tracks and its great to hear it again after so long. Thanks for the post!

  • lol, gavin, he's awesome

  • He Is one of the best drummers in the WORLD!!!!!!

  • weird way to grab the sticks

  • lmao the one bald white dude w/ glasses and the shaker is almost at the point of jizzing in his pants near the end.

  • I love the last little bit!

  • whats the song name 1:11?

  • It's called 'Kumi Na Moja'

  • wow, thanks a lot for this!!

  • The riff at the beginning has Chick Corea written all over it. Esp the way the sax and guitar mirror each other.
