This was actually the last Jag game I bought before I decided to cut my loses and sell the system and move on. The Jag desperately needed a killer sports title, but unfortunately, this wasn't it. The graphics weren't actually too bad for a 1995 title, but the controls definitely needed more polish, and the camera angles were headache-inducing.
Easy to see why this is considered one of the worst games for the Jaguar. The players' movements are hard to follow, the music gets on my nerves, and the constant stream of "Ugh!" "I'm open!" "That hurt!" is both REALLY annoying and destroys any hope of the gamer getting the feel of a real basketball game.
That said, if the multi-player gameplay is really good(and hey, they packed the Team Tap in with the game,so Atari must have had some faith in it), that would be a saving grace.
i know the programmers had a hard time working with thte graphics with this game, (reference from the nintendo nerd), but the programmers because could gave them better phrases instead of hearing, get off me, get off me, pretty much the whole 15 mins you play.
If I live to the ripe old age of 100 I'll never forget this rubbish game. This is actually the game that convinced me to give up on the Jag once & for all and finally sell that piece of hardware defecation and move on. Sad sack Jag owners, like me, waited for what seemed like an eternity for some of these games to be released. When they finally were, like this game, they were absolute bollocks.
oh so you were like one of the only 12 people who bought it back then? lol i never knew a single person who owned a jaguar back when they were being made. are there more than like 2 games that are actually worth playing on it?
For my personal tastes, I'd say there are at least 30-40 worth playing and that's just off the top of my head. I can say that with a decent amount of confidence, because I have played every single commercial release for it.
If we're talking about really good games, I'd go with about 10-15 maybe... could be upwards of 20.
The page claims by the end of 1995, 125,000 were sold. Just a few more than your sarcastic 12.
That does not take into account any that were sold after 1995. I don't think we have those numbers, because Atari went under, but I would assume it was minimal.
I can`t even crearly remember the Movie i think it was a Pretty bad Movie otherwise i wouldn`t have forget about it. The Game itself looks weird and i ask myself why they even bothered bringing this game out.
Kevin mentioned that before, but I forgot how to do it... what do you tack on to the end of the URL?
Also, After I've done a vid of every jag game, I plan on concentrating on a few of them and doing a much better job with the videos, like recording in a higher resolution.
The reason I went 320x240 right now is because some of them were turning out longer and I couldn't upload them with the larger file size of 640x480.
Or if there is no button for the high qual you can just go at the end of the url adress and write "&fmt=18" and enter that it will turn almost any video into HQ.
the game play is so slow hahahaha

This game is hurt. I'll stick to Wolfenstein, Doom, and AvP. By the way, thanks for sharing. I always wanted to see this game.

So... is this a bad game? It looks playable...
Tamanozke 2 years ago
It's playable, but I can't sugar-coat it too much :-D
If anything, it would probably be the most fun with 2-4 players. I wouldn't play it alone.
NBA Jam TE is much better and is also available for the Jag.

I had plenty of fun with the Jag and its games... and still do.
There are some stinkers, though.

And how much did you pay for your jaguar, did you buy off ebay?
SystemXpander 2 years ago
I've had my Jaguar since its Christmas release in 1994.
Back then I believe it cost my parents $250 or something.
These days, you should be able to get a jag with a couple common games for around $40-50 on EBay.

SystemXpander 2 years ago
Luckily there's NBA Jam for the Jaguar, too, which, by the way, spanks the SNES version.
viMasterJag 2 years ago
well shit it BETTER spank the snes version seeing that this was suppose to be a 64 bit system!!!!

Looking at a game really can't tell you much as far as fun or playability.
This game is fun with friends.
