if you setup your windows properly (with game permitions etc.)and have your card driver upgraded you can view the cutscenes.

If you're running Vista, the following commands will enable the Indeo video codec to enable you to watch the cinematics in-game. I don't know why they're not enabled by default. You can also watch the videos from the game directory.

Thief 3 deadly shadows is way better in terms of game play, and it envoks the same atmoshphere as well as continues the storyline, expanding on its prior weak points such as the full body awarness, giving a new sense of realism to the stealth system.

Thief 1 does in fact work on vista. But, you'll have to set the Affinity to operate it on a single core, or else the missions will crash after 10 seconds or more.

This game has also got the prize for the best demo ever. You get almost the ENTIRE life of the party level. There's a different briefing and objectives (you need plans for the mechanical guardians, but it's still in the same safe), but you get the entire level. Only demo I spent more than a week finishing.

I love this mission. I had it on expert after I played it a few times and I still couldn't find ALL the loot. I even found the rings, which were a nice touch to the game.

Didn't think Garrett had a heart. Oh yeah, you know he does.

Makes me sad that they have discontinued to the series. The games were incredibly sucessfull, especially Deadly Shadows, and it was scored well.

What a shame.

Next step should be to make sure that Thief 1 & 2 can be played on Vista. I miss playing them both.
