  • This actually makes me feel physically sick. When I used to see them back in the day, Tom really believed this, now he is just doing it for the crowd. Do somemore Toyota sponsored concerts, Tom. And before anyone attacks me for acting 'holier than thou" I'm honestly not trying to be. I read the AM! interview where Tom said his ideals changed and you shouldn't hold someone to what they said when they were 17 when they're in their 30s. It really just makes me sad he still plays this one.

  • shut the fuck up. it dosent matter. its not like toms a dick head or anything and these songs still did come out of his head at one point, and there new album is still good. its all in the same spirit just not as diy and more pissed off at things you may get pissed off at when your an adult and you've grown up. the bands still fucking good. there songs never gotten bad.

  • @Dinasourmaddog4 here fucking here

  • @GIMMEADOLLAR1 just because his ideals have changed doesn't mean that he's sold out, people change this is inevitable, so maybe a little less shit talking hmm?

  • @xpogodom Listen to the fucking words of the song, "just give me a scene where the music is free and beer is not the life of the party..." all I'm saying is that if I used to believe something really strongly and then stopped believing the same thing I wouldn't sing about it just because my fans like it. It's hypocritical. That is all.

  • @GIMMEADOLLAR1 I don't think he nescessarily no longer believes that he no long thinks "a scene where the music is free," but he may now know that such a scene where the artist makes no money isn't really possible in today's society.

  • @xpogodom people do it all the time it's called DIY punk and it's cool that he isn't into DIY anymore, it just doesn't really make sense for him to sing about it like he was. This is completely fucking stupid, you're his biggest fan, you win.

  • @GIMMEADOLLAR1

i agree with this, i came across this because my band is covering it and we live by this, and IF we ever stop believing in it, we won't play it. I agree that tom should do the same.

  • @GIMMEADOLLAR1

I kind of felt this way for a while. I honestly think Against Me! has gotten too big for the ideals it stood for. These solo shows Tom did felt like a true to form fresh breath of air. He has a totally different presence and vibe at these shows. I mean damn hes even playing Axl Rose the original way before the record.

  • being on a computer complaining on you tube isnt very DIY. infact just to give into the bullshit heres what would be more diy=sitting down and writting a song about how bands like this arnet what they used to be or dont hold up to thier ideals...rather that writing out bullshit paragraphs like mine or yours, people give these artists to much credit, like youre parents thier falabe and real but they give a sense of direction and value that you want to be a part of and follow so njoy it wile u can

  • these lyrics are so ironic now a days...

  • ironic how

  • because it's about DIY ideals, which against me! has abandoned.

  • The song isnt even about against Me!, its about a band in an ideal world, and i dont think ours is.

  • i know plenty of bands that do this. against me! did do it all at one point, they just don't anymore.

  • yeah the bands who travel on nothing but a plate of food and place to rest have to go somewhere at some point or they don't last very long. you must earn some money to continue what you do. At least Against Me! makes good money for doing what they love and what they are good at.

  • bullshit. defiance ohio has been doing it for five or six years, pat the bunny, under various names, for longer, ghost mice, mischief brew... none of them have had to sign major labels just to keep going, and they make music a hell of a lot more interesting than new against me! in any case.

  • let me be more specific. Bands that tour a lot that are not on major labels make money and can continue what they are doing. Bands that travel on nothing but a plate of food and place to rest don't last. Either you progress from making no money to making money on tours or you cannot continue. You need to pay for rent ect, pay for gas, pay for food. There is just no way you can travel on nothing but a plate of food and place to rest forever. All the power to AM for making $ by doing what theylove

  • label doesnt matter, its the music that matters. If the music is good, why bother looking at the label? And you can say against me!'s music is bad, thats your taste. Everyone has different taste in music.

  • i disagree again on both counts. firstly, the fact that DIY punk exists as a genre proves you wrong, plain and simple. i can name a lengthy list of bands that have lasted for as long as one would expect any band to last and produced plenty of creative music without signing to a major record label. many have even made money doing so, but kept the ability to make their music available cheaply or for free.

  • I thought this was a Def Karaoke Jam song...

  • agreed

  • i just saw him a week ago in cleveland and his setlist was fucking beautiful and for the encore he played sink florida sink the crowd stormed the stage his guitar got unplugged but he kept going. it was amazing

  • wow that setlist....

  • holy shit eh fellas?

  • If anybody is curious about the end of this video, the camera got smacked out of my hand and fell to the floor. Gave me a brief heart attack, but it doesn't seem to have done any damage.

And apologies to whoever it fell on before hitting the floor.

  • @UncleMax27 thank god the footage was OK~! Awesome vids man!! Kudos!
