  • You are my new hero!! I just got a 1952 Les Paul fitted w/a bigsby. The strings are about 30 years old. I went to change them yesterday and fell flat on my face with it! I gave up, and this morning thought about using a vice grip. Then I thought, youtube..... Thank-you!!

  • Thinline Telecaster Player Deluxe?! I love that guitar <3

  • @1xskaterguyx11 we do too! It is a great playing Tele-thanks!

  • Wanted to caution people about kinking the strings. My first and second strings both immediately snapped at the kink while I was tensioning them. Liked the capo, though. Seems way easier than using a wedge under the Bigsby.

  • im not very good at english. can anyone tell me whats the deal with the capo pls?

  • @B7ackRider

the use of a capo keeps both hands free to get the strings placed in the tuning machine. Its like having a 'third' hand.

  • hey i just got a hagstrom with a bigsby tailpiece and it was so confusing to restring it. but thanks to your video i did it without a problem. and to think i was about to go to my local music store and pay them to restring it ha!

  • cheers well thats the another twenty minutes of fiddling around saved

  • I think the zzguitarworks how to string a bigsby video makes it even easier. Both these guys though have a lot of experience, still takes me about 20 mins.

  • I don't understand what's so important about neck tension or just tension in general. If someone would clear this up for me it would be much appreciated.

  • brilliant! my first bigsby guitar and my first string change... after messing with the first string for half an hour I saw your video... thanks!

  • I think the capo idea is genius. I've never thought of that, and it makes things so much easier. Thanks

  • They reccommend a foam wedge but the capo idea looks better . Next time and thanks.

  • Great demo and right on! I wish I had seen this before I eventually figured it out on the 2nd time I restrung my Gretsch Black Phoenix.

  • is it ok to take all your strings off first when changing them? I hear stories about neck tension etc, but does it make a difference?

  • @LukeMadSkillz1984

Yes it really does. Not after the first time, but if you always do it like that the neck will grow wrong and you will get buzzy sounds if you play open strings ...

  • I do it without a capo, just hold tight, and keep tension. But this does seem easier

  • Excellent Idea!! Thanks!! check out my tele custom guitar with bigsby... its under the name of "telecaster Snake Eyes"... hope you like it...

  • Love the capo idea! Saves me trying to grow a third arm. THanks for that!

  • Great idea with the capo! I've never thought of that!
