At 2:25 George is looking up at a small patch of american kids who were singular screamers among a midst of well behaved, polite, & quieter Japanese. Yep, I was almost 14, going into the 9th grade - Yamato HighSchool/Tachikawa Air Force Base. I was wearing a dress that was tailored in the likeness of one modeled by Patti Boyd in a Seventeen Mag. cover. earlier that summer. George was very personable & encouraged our behavoir at times! 45 years ago-DAMN!
People say they were horrible live, listen to their harmonies here, that's amazing that they could do that in the playing conditions they had, with no monitors and what not.
I totally agree if you listen to their performance in France 65 or ATLANTA 65 close your eyes and you would think it the studio version they were so tight with the primitive technology avaliable. I have heard the RAW PA from Shea and it wasn't as bad as made out I'm sure the police near the stage enjoyed the show! :)
@Voxac100b Yes! France '65 in my opinion is one of their best. Along with the show in '64 in Aus. People weren't screaming and crying as loud, they wanted to hear the music lol. That was the problem, if The Beatles sounded bad at some concerts, wasn't their fault, the crowd was just too loud lol. And yeah I heard the RAW PA from Shea, it sounded good for that concert, they couldn't hear anything lol it's amazing they stayed in time with each other.
@Marshallsg The harmonies were better than expected with the two on one mic setup... even without monitors...... John said he heard a plane going over at Shea and they thought at first the amps were about to blow up as everything was turned up so loud LOL! but they still couldn't be heard.... PS monitors used at Candlestick Pk. ;)
@Voxac100b Well they used the same mic setup in the studio no? Like say if Paul and George were doing backups for John. I always thought they would share the one mic, to give it a certain sound. And I had no idea that monitors were used during Candlestick. I've watched a bit of that concert, guess I never noticed the monitors on the stage.
Listen and look at Paul play that bass. It's God sent. Who does shit like that? Sing and play such complicated lines...ON BASS? Wow...even after more than 40 years it NEVER gets old.
@Heidibear76 Paul once played lead guitar when Stuart Sutcliffe was in the band. When George Harrison joined, Paul played counter melody. Sutcliffe couldn't really play, so Paul used to cover up for him. After Sutcliffe remained in Germany to be with his girlfriend, Paul started playing the bass guitar bass and took the technique of playing counter melody along to the instrument. The old standard for bassists was to play the root of each chord. After McCartney, we had to earn our wages... :-)
it cracks me up how many times john fucks up lyrics on stage, I feel Fine and Help! are usually the ones he mucks up most, but this one is another classic! God bless John Lennon!
DId they have two concerts in japan? cause there is one wherein they are wearing black suits and red polos...and this is....white suits and red polos... 0.o
Yeah, it's spontaneus that fuzz sound of this Epiphone Casino. I like it how finish the George's little solo in the end of this song; and I like both Epiphone Casinos (John & George's w/ Bigsby tremolo).
i have to say .. as a bass player.. its not really that hard to sing and play this song..
not trying to be critical heidibear .. i just didnt think it was that hard to do..
offcourse i just did it at home.. not in front of 10 million screaming people..

I like the live performances where John's dyslexia comes out. That sounds weird, but as a dyslexic, it's rather comforting.

When those four got together, you know there is a God and He gave us a very special gift. If only for a moment.

Oh it looks like you moved!..... John poking fun at the tight security and the way the fans had to behave themselves.

@Marshallsg And yea, now listening to the concert again, can you ever tell they used monitors.

Did John say it looks like you moved? He must have been making fun of the way security had the fans well controlled!

John usually did most of his screw ups intentionally. Clever and witty, careless yet genius.
