LGB trains are made to be weatherproof. The track and buildings are all UV resistant, and weatherproof also. I don't leave the trains outdoors, but everything else can stay outside, and has been for years.
The track is fed via wires from a power pack, or transformer. The motor in the locomotive gets it's power via wires from the wheels, which pick up the power from the rails. The rails are solid brass, making them non corrosive. They need to be cleaned once in awhile, to insure good conductivity. One of my older videos is of two Stainz locomotives pulling a track cleaner.
