  • Ok i know this is a chemist type question so I probably wont get an answer but! Has anyone ever measured the KJ from a dry ice explosion and a Muriatic/Aluminum explosion from the same cannon? Which would be more efficient?

  • ha ha ha ha... THUNK!! Loved the weak one, since it was hilariously anticlimatic.

  • You should launch like big marbles or something lol

  • 2 questions. First, why did you name it spitfire. Second, why inspired you to make the Spitfire

  • @fighterboy45 Spitfire was just a random name I picked out. We made Spitfire because we used to make simple "dry ice bombs" and knew they could be used to power a dry ice cannon. Our first cannons were made of PVC, and the one in this video is made of steel.

  • of course they had to add some saliva... lol

  • dang that could be the military's new Mortars :D

  • @coryrbk i understand you awe for such a awesome item, but unfortunatly now days the U.S. military has mortars that shoot non-explosive, and explosive shells automatically from roughly 2 and a half football fields away shooting 5 shells per 5 seconds. plus this weapon takes quite awhile to fire just watch the video it tells you. so no offense but it wouldn't work sorry.

  • @fighterboy45 lol yea i know it wouldn't xD it's just unny as hell to think of as riot cntrol or something lol

  • very good. what kind of tube did you use?

  • Someone asked this on the first part of the video. Apparently its a steel drive shaft from an old truck.

  • you guys are awesome

  • Congratz....very professional

  • imagine if you did this with a metal bottle...that'd be like a REAL cannon.

  • You guys rock.

  • omfg i wana get some dry ice and try this shit on my lil brother!

  • Amazing, This is something that is worth mentioning

  • i like the power of it but not knowing when its gunna go isnt my thing

  • no wonder they use this stuff in the military, lol.

  • The song is "Click Click Boom"?

  • not to bad i guess. you know the reason your first ply wood broke so easy is because it was really really old looking and that final shot of the video was on a fresh good looking wood. still a cool video tho.

  • That poor branch! Cool video but was it really worth sacrificing the branch?

  • "Go go go! Ram! Ram! Out! Clear! Fire!" dude... you guys should consider becoming Roman Soldiers... excellent methodicity with the loading, especially when you have only a few seconds until someone could accidentally get shot! Bravo!

  • its all fun and games until someone gets shot in the face with one of those things

  • Safety first.

  • Two words. KICK ASS!!! Automatic 5.

  • were did you get the spit fire symbol or is it the brand of drive shaft

  • We just had it made at a sign and decal shop.

  • where can i get a pipe some wat like that without having to take a car apart

  • where can i get a pipe some wat like that without having to take a car apart

  • Check welding shops for spare parts, maybe a junkyard.

  • where did you get the pipe/canon and how much was it

  • It was a driveshaft from an old truck which we found at a welding place. We just welded cap on the end of it, power brushed the rust off, then gave it a fresh coat of paint. Before that, we used a big PVC pipe, but it kept exploding under the force of the explosion.

  • coolness... check

    destuctive... check

  • awesome u need to make a stand that would own,... even better make like 2 or 3 with stands that would own lol

  • this was kinda lame

    but still cool tho

  • nice vid 5 stars

  • i've used a slice of potato as a "sabot" for a heavier/harder object in my spud gun, i shot a drill "chuck" thru a computer monitor, totally destroyed the tube structure and poked a hole out the back.

  • yo pretty kool next time use a bounch of pebbles u know speadshot

  • We actually had a design for a shotgun-shell type projectile, but it never worked too well. We took a aluminum pop can, cut it in half, and then slid the edges vertically (like an unclosed shotgun shell). Then you put the projectile in, and on explosion the whole works flies out, but the "fins" spread out quickly and stop the can from flying. Then the projectiles go off on their own.

  • Why do you guys have a roman shield?

  • The guy holding it is a bit of a historical enthusiast. His house is full of old spears and swords and whatnot. We actually made a documentary about him, which I'm afraid can't be shown to general audiences...

  • Oh. That's pretty cool. Those Roman shields look cool.

  • Chemistry is so cool dude, but usually in school we get that weird teachers. Teachers should do those kind of stuff! would be easier to understand some chemical reactions, not that I don't understand them but that's just cool, sitting in class is not as fun as looking at the physical or chemical reaction live.

  • I was wondering what would it be doing it in the conditions that I described and using a baseball as ammo! LOL!!!

  • Actually the wood is kind of inclined and it's not really fixed to something as well as the cannon is not in a straight angle. So if the wood was really holding fixed and straight and the cannon held in a straight angle the damage could be even bigger.

  • Golf balls are awesome projectiles!

If you your bazooka tube is big enough; tennis balls.

  • what are you shooting the board with?

  • that was awsome and cool

  • wow this was nice

  • B00M H3AD$H0T

    --------(x_x)------>

  • Where the hell do you get calicum carbide?

  • Local gun store sells it for use in "Big Bang Cannons" <--Google search it. I'm sure you can direct purchase from online somewhere. Used-to get it in a 2 pound can in lump form but now it comes in a small toothpaste like tube. I screwed up in my original description we didn't use it the same way these guys are we lit it through a small hole that was in the end after cramming a wet tennis ball up inside it.

  • you guys are my heros

  • nice, im subscribing also :o)

  • Use Pepsi Cola bottles they hold more pressure and are more predictable on when they will go off.

We used to do the same thing with an old fence post driver and calcium carbide.

  • monkeys!

  • hey i have question is the bottom capped off?

  • Yes. We welded a circular 1/4" piece of steel to the bottom.

  • ok thanks

  • what is the song? when he says 2 times comon...? lol

  • The song is Click Click Boom by Saliva

  • I love the editing you have a good sense of humour. Im subscribing.

  • that iis awsome

  • See, I am the type of person that could entertain myself ALL day long with something like that. Or setting off 1g of flash with lasers and stuff.

  • so close and you almost didn't hit it! next time try hitting something bigger like your mamma's but!

  • first potatoe in space :DDD

  • We used a 3.5" driveshaft off of an old farm truck. We welded a cap on the end, power brushed the whole thing, and hit it with some black enamel. It replaced our original gun which was PVC, and the explosions were so violent that it blew the back end off of it. Since PVC plastic doesn't show up well in X-Rays, we decided to go with something a little stronger.

  • what did you use as the barrel??

  • OMG WTF?!

  • you have to try it up to see if the potatoe enters in orbit. XD
