it wasent selling up to ppls expectations, also there has been a long period of getting games, the last most notable one being OoT however that is set to change this holiday season which is right around the corner, and despite selling less than what nintendo expected the 3DS has sold more than what the DS did in its 1st year

@sd28821 I got the game its the exact game on the n64 except slightly improved graphics and 3d thrown in. Its an updated port of an n64 game from like 15 years ago.
About time they took a new tack with the ads, and hopefully with the price cut the 3DS will be on its feet by Christmas with MARIO KART and the new MARIO WORLD games as high profile sellers. Fingers crossed Nintendo fans - I want Nintendo to still be around when my kids are gamers and hopefully the 3DS will succeed.

There is nothing state of the art about still using a friend code (even if it is only one code per system instead of one code per game, it's still not state of the art) that doesn't allow for even basic online features like messaging. 360, PS3, and PC are looking at this "state of the art" online functionality and laughing at it.
@seirahime The Gamer may know the difference, but as someone who works Gaming Retail, the average consumer does not. They think it's a DS with 3D, and those that know it's another system, don't think it's backwards compatible like most systems nowadays.
So who's fault it that? Nintendo's. People aren't going to pay more to play DS games when they can buy a much cheaper DS. The 3DS obviously doesn't have software that gamers care about to talk about the system, other consumers don't get interested in it due to lack of interest. Advertising graphics and network settings doesn't drive interest either. It needs solid exclusive software that drives interest. Games sell systems.
@seirahime Games will be there by the end of the year, right now it's too early to really judge the system, since it's only been out 5 months. The original DS did not kick off until a year+ into it's life, because at the moment, who wanted it as oppose to a GBA, and people were hating on it because PSP was superior and had one of the best launches of all all time. Then again usually having a good launch leads to crap down the line...look at the Dreamcast, but that's beyond the point.

How hard is it to look directly at a tiny screen? come on we have brains and muscle coordination- Unless you have shot nerves and can control your spazms you really should have no trouble maintaining the 3D. Yes it does take time to lear the position but as i said the sweet spot is the general holding position- its not a bad thing at all. The image doesnt even blur or split that long, takes a second to readjust :/.

Oh and there are more kids playing the 3DS than not which means on the go kids will have trouble if they want 3D. It will be like trying to drink from a cup while walking. I'm not bashing on it, I'm just pointing out an obvious flaw.

If a handheld platform is not able to let people use it on the go then cell phones should be getting some much needed credit. The graphics are last gen GCN graphics, awful. The online has no messaging, no 3G, laggy online play, and no achievements/trophies. And these "better games?" I really haven't seen anything good at all besides remakes of old games... obviously others haven't either as shown by terrible sales and 1/3 price cut just weeks after release (when is the last time a system has ever done that?).

@SparkleDevon Thank you. There's not a console on the market that I don't own (Including six DS's, two PSP's, and a 3DS) and each and every one of them have things that make them amazing. People need to quit raging about which is best and just play what they want. They'll be a lot happier.
I'll get a Vita when the time is right but the 3DS is an amazing piece of hardware, too.

Looks like Nintendo is targeting the PSV audience since they showed franchises that people associate with Sony (Street Fighter, Metal Gear, Ridge Racer, and Resident Evil) instead of Nintendo brand games like Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Nintendogs, etc.

It's still lacking I admit, but it is a large improvement on the Wii. many are improvements that you can't see, such as supporting new network types that couldn't be supported previously. The fact that online features such as the autolog, online system for the Need for Speed franchise, aren't being cut in the 3DS versions of games, but are still being cut in the Wii versions is a testament to the improvements made.

About time they took a new tack with the ads, and hopefully with the price cut the 3DS will be on its feet by Christmas with MARIO KART and the new MARIO WORLD games as high profile sellers. Fingers crossed Nintendo fans - I want Nintendo to still be around when my kids are gamers and hopefully the 3DS will succeed.

It would be a good commercial if not for the false advertising when they said "state of the art online functionality."
There is nothing state of the art about still using a friend code (even if it is only one code per system instead of one code per game, it's still not state of the art) that doesn't allow for even basic online features like messaging. 360, PS3, and PC are looking at this "state of the art" online functionality and laughing at it.

The 3DS obviously doesn't have software that gamers care about to talk about the system, other consumers don't get interested in it due to lack of interest. Advertising graphics and network settings doesn't drive interest either. It needs solid exclusive software that drives interest. Games sell systems.

@seirahime Games will be there by the end of the year, right now it's too early to really judge the system, since it's only been out 5 months. The original DS did not kick off until a year+ into it's life, because at the moment, who wanted it as oppose to a GBA, and people were hating on it because PSP was superior and had one of the best launches of all all time. Then again usually having a good launch leads to crap down the line...look at the Dreamcast, but that's beyond the point.

@Hfajardo97 not really, yes the sweet spot is small- but its not beyond possible. How hard is it to look directly at a tiny screen? come on we have brains and muscle coordination- Unless you have shot nerves and can control your spazms you really should have no trouble maintaining the 3D. Yes it does take time to lear the position but as i said the sweet spot is the general holding position- its not a bad thing at all. The image doesnt even blur or split that long, takes a second to readjust :/.

@leatopia It is a bad thing though. It doesn't ruin the 3DS whatsoever but its worth mentioning since handhelds are supposed to be on the go which means you should be able to move around a lot. Oh and there are more kids playing the 3DS than not which means on the go kids will have trouble if they want 3D. It will be like trying to drink from a cup while walking. I'm not bashing on it, I'm just pointing out an obvious flaw.

@Hfajardo97 On the go?? No the handhelds are not a "on the go device". Portable doesnt mean "play while multitasking" - thats just silly- portable means "portable" as in pick up and play anywhere. Simple. God this reminds me of that case where a Kid fell off the train tracks while playing his DSlight - i guess we should put up a dedicated sign/ notice of not to walk and play at the same time for all handhelds now. (which they do in Japan) - Once again this is a portable not "on the go."

If a handheld platform is not able to let people use it on the go then cell phones should be getting some much needed credit. I have also seen people walking with their handhelds in at least one commercial for every Nintendo and Sony "portable" platform. I'm guessing Nintendo shouldn't do that if their system is not capable of allowing you to do so.

I've seen so many people cross the street talking on a cell phone- when cars were still passing- its a distraction. Let me put it simpler this way- Anytime you need 2 hands to so something, 9/10 you shouldn't be multitasking while doing it,especially if it reqires sight- because that action will require and take up more attention than usual.

The graphics are last gen GCN graphics, awful. The online has no messaging, no 3G, laggy online play, and no achievements/trophies. And these "better games?" I really haven't seen anything good at all besides remakes of old games... obviously others haven't either as shown by terrible sales and 1/3 price cut just weeks after release (when is the last time a system has ever done that?).
