  • HI. I am 6'2" tall. How well can you sit in land cruiser? I've thought to buy one of those land cruisers. I just wanna ask that, because in many cars, it's uncomfortably to sit because of my height.

  • doors and roofs are for squares

  • Frames on these things are absurdly well built. If you can keep em rust free they can last forever. (minor parts replaced of course.) Impossible to find a nice one in B.C. Might move to Aussie land one day..Ill land my hands on one then.

  • I would give anything for one... I think I convinced my dad to get one as our next project. anyway. where did your winch go? and you need to close that little door that goes into the engine compartment. I don't know what to call it.

  • Awesome cruiser, diggin your loafers too.

  • Cool video. Nicely made.

  • Do you know that the L6 engine in the Landcruiser is almost the same as you get in a '54-'63 Chevy pick-up? In '55 Chevy licensed Toyota there 235in L6 truck engine. Toyota used it (with sum changes) in the FJ until the late 1970's. Both are very good engines.

  • apik tenan mas dab, neng kene regane isih larang kui, opo maneh sing diesel...manteb gan !

  • sloth

  • I have a '76.

  • Blood-D-Oath!!

  • are parts hard to come by? since its old

  • thanks for the review mate!

  • fj40 rules!!!!!!!

  • yours FJ40 is beautiful..! congratulations from Venezuela..!

  • two words, point dexter

  • FJ40 TOYOTA La Leyenda...!!!! UNOS DE LOS MEJORES CARROS Sin Duda Alguna el 4x4 Q MARCO LA PAUTA ;) AMO ESTE CARRO ♥

  • Comment removed

  • he really doesn't loook happy!!

  • aussies.......

  • How much weight can it tow?

  • AMIGOS, DICHOSOS USTEDES Q TIENEN SUS RUSTICOS AL DIA EN CUANTO AL MANTENIMIENTO NECESARIO, SOY DE VENEZUELA Y AQUI NO SE CONSIGUEN REPUESTOS, MI TOYOTA ES DEL AÑO 1984 Y LO Q SE CONSIGUE ES MUY POCO Y SI LO HAY ES DE MUY MALA CALIDAD AQUI LOS RUSTICOS AÑOS 60 70 80 ESTAN EN PELIGRO DE EXTINCION

  • Better off with a Nissan..

  • @countrylad82 I want to see even a built nissan do what this can do...

  • @117nathanmyers nissan g60 would go anywhere a 40 series would

  • I saw one of these for sale the other day in town. I'm contemplating on buying it...

  • Nice truck

  • How tall are you? You have to top 6'5".

  • @An2oine well spotted, I'm 6'6"

  • BJ42 w/ the 5 speed and air con. The only 40 series to get!

  • I wish i could find one for $5000

  • Yeah!

    I got a FZJ75 from 1993 Tray-back ute.

Not a great deal more expensive but A/C, Dual Tanks(180L) and in my case Dual Batts. The 5 Gear transforms the vehicle. You need to be able to do 110KMS on the Freeway.

The Old 40's and 45 are getting dearer now. Classic vehicle but have a look at a 75 series. Mine has 215K on the ODO and I paid $7500.

  • this goofy muther fucker and that land cruiser dont go together.

  • @heyjustthetip are you saying a car is really just a fashion accessory? You idiot

  • Great vid and even better car! The car perfectly suited to the real Australia, giving so many Aussies the opportunity to see what our beautiful, diverse country has to offer. What a true classic! It's easy to see why 1 in 10 Landcruisers are owned by Australians!\

Not hard to tell, i'm a Landcrusier owning Aussie!

  • beautiful car

  • your front bezel is on upside down nice cruiser though

  • Go Toyota!

  • hey, you should have brought ur 'hot girlfriend" on that trip too the Big Dish.........lol, she must have been busy that weekend : )

  • I really like the fj40, there is one for sale at the classic throttle shop its a beauty but they want $30k for it!

  • wow. what a boring kid

  • DONT READ THIS CUZ IT REALLY WORKS. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST FRIDAY POSSIBLE BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE, TOMMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE, HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS TO THREE OTHER VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN TWO DAYS. NOW THAT YOU HAVE STARTED READING THIS DON'T STOP. THIS IS SO SCARY! POST THIS TO OVER FIVE OTHER VIDEOS.WHEN YOUR DONE PRESS F6 AND THEN YOUR CRUSHES NAME WILL APPEASR ON YOUR SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. IT WORKS!! (SCARY THO...)

  • my dad had one when i was growing up. i always thought it was so cool to be sitting in the back seat facing the other back seat. except the shocks are really springy and when u hit a good bump you could do some serious damage to your cranium via the roll bars.

  • I wish we had more of these in Canada. From what I've hear they don't die, pretty bullet-proof.

    These are REAL offroading vehicles.

  • Its a lot like my Jeep, but I would trade my jeep for a FJ40. They are so awesome.

  • Mine's a 1979 (Feb.).

And I still love this video! Well made!

  • there is nothing like an old Toyota

    nothing

    not even a new Toyota

  • fj40 will never die on you but if you want air con and power steering but want to keep some of that ruggidness go 60 series

  • I use to have a Diesel model. But you have to admit, have a air con and power steering would be nice!!!!

  • both my brothers have had landcruisers. the first one was a bj42 which is now extremely rare to find. it was a tough little thing wish we still had it. and now we have a hj47 that just never stop going!! when we go 4wd we pull out the newer 4wd with this.

    best 4wd's ever made

  • i just got this same year, hows your gas mpg

  • Hey TOYOTA please stop doing your 200 series, there are a lot of customers, who want to buy new 40 series, 70 series, 60 series, 100 series!!!!

    People want real TOYOTA's SUV's!!!!!!

  • A really nice 4WD, I like it.

  • why the japeneses dont keep doing thoses good cars?

  • If gas wasnt so spendy id consider one.

  • Well done. I want one so bad. You hardly ever see them in Canada, especially rhd.

  • nice vid, well done! I'll try to make one with my bj and fj. My bj4o has the 6 cyl diesel^from the pick up, which makes it reaaaaaly strong! Will post soon and keep you advised. If you look for more of these cars, here in Costa Rica there are plenty of them and they sell quite expensive for they are the best 4x4!!!

  • my country is venezuela actually

  • the peopleof my country feel a great respect for this model diesel or gaz because is a really people car and help them to arrive to very difficult places deep in jungle

  • I'd rather just buy a jeep wrangler.

  • metal dash with no airbags? good luck if u ever have a crash mate

  • @MrGrog88 HAHAH dude, you haven't seen what hte frame and bumpers are made out of. You hit anything lighter than a T-38 and you're good to go.

  • What Year is that One your driven ?

  • are you on the wrong side or did you load the film backwards??

  • @98gsoup Many countries drive on the left hand side of the road and hence have right hand drive vehicles.

  • These really are neat, neat 4X4's. I have driven them in the jungles of Panama and the mountains of Northern New Mexico and never felt like I couldn't get where I wanted to go! Thanks for a really good video!

  • 6 seats max? With the stock original seats in my 83 FJ40, mine is a certified 7 seater. :) Nice video clip there UltimaRB, well done.

  • Great vid fella... My first 4wd was a 1975 FJ40, damn i miss it. Went everywhere with me. Blew the transfer-case towing a boat in 4wd and started to rust badly, but i would buy another one again...

  • you guys nothing else to do buying old toys. Do smthing else Dudes ! Or else do charity works.

  • I love fj40s but I've wheeled both and like Jeep TJs more.

  • good video, bad start but this guy got into it

  • BEST vehicle ever made! Great video. I got a Prado now but had a 76 FJ40 for a few years and I miss it. I still kick myself that I ever sold it. It's indestructible, will take you places that nothing else short of a Sherman tank will make it to and it's just got the biggest COOL factor of any vehicle. It's MAN'S car and I reckon it'll raise your testosterone levels more than any pill you can take! There'll never be another vehicle like it again...

  • Hello my name is Jorge I'm from Portugal, also got a bj 40 of 1980 diesel engine with 3.0 800.000kms never malfunction. King of the desert, proven exprerience. jorge.m.fonseca

  • Nice job, the video was edited very well. Lots of shots that looked like they were right out of the top Gear show. Great job.

  • is a bj40 and an fj40 pretty much the same thing?

  • @brandong17 bj40 have the diesel engine.

  • @brandong17

bj's are the 4 cylinder version

  • modify it! Upgrade it! Lift it! Give it a roll cage!

  • @phrawgg2 personally i would take the hard top off the door off and a roll cage

  • dude, that is a great truck. we have quite a few of those in south africa that are rust free and in great condition as well as yours. seems a lot cheaper for one in oz than in SA though. in vancouver canada there are some nice ones but very pricey for a tidy one

    cool vid bro

  • I have got a 105 MPH with a 2f and 31" tires

  • what is ur top speed u get on your fj40?

  • With the 2F, 4 speed and 31" tyres it struggles to do 110km/h on the freeway. You might get it going a bit quicker than that on a long downhill but these aren't built for speed.

  • @UltimaRB it could go higher since your fj40 has such big tires and is very tall it makes it slower but it looks better with big tires and tall also this was not built for speed but for power. This car has enough power to pull an 18 wheeler

  • @SuperFj40 my 1970 fj40 stock, would go 70mph top speed in 3rd gear

  • i have a 90 but ive always loved the look of these things wudnt want to put the bloody fuel in it though lol, stick to my tdi

  • nice car mate. me broke mine cause i runned over a bloody kangaroo in the outback. bloody amazing vehicle.

  • we have a fj40, 1979 absolute beast, lol we were repairing it, we took everything but the engine block away and had to repair a couple of things, we took the manafold out and put cloth in the inlet to stop bugs getting in, when we put it back on we forgot to take some out, so cloth got into the engine, so we fiddled around a bit, but then it coffed into life, incredible, we had big bits of cloth out of the exhaust, we were also pulling some out while the engine was turning over!!

  • yeaaaaaaaaaa good old land cruzer ftw toyota thumps all thos other things you call 4wd's

  • Nice review :)

  • damn look at the size of that dish at (1:08) ! must be used for UFO tracking, eh? back to the vid, very nice 4x4! got rice?

  • haha yeah it's massive, thanks for noticing! It is The Dish in Parkes, NSW. The first messages from the Apollo 11 moon landing were received by it.

  • I just brought a fj45 (ute) for about $2000, still need to get it registered though and it has some paint and rust issues. but i'm happy :D

  • That thing is luxurious compared to my 1973 Land Rover ;)

  • nice video!!

  • How does it compare to say a Jeep CJ-7 or CJ-8?

  • There is no comparison, I went thru a CJ5 and CJ7,before I wised up and bought a Toyota Landcrusier, Bought an all Org 1979 FJ40 in 1997 with 125,000, 2009 355,000 miles, only replacement has been a starter and a parking brake, starts on the first turn, no elec problems, the doom light and cig lighter still work, amazing. Dont waste your time with old Jeeps, mechnical nightmares.

  • Okay, Thank you

  • i have a 1979 cj7 and iv only had to change the clutch, fuel pump , fuel filter, all the fuel lines, and it looks like it was wired by someone who was blindfolded. i bought it 4 months ago.....

  • @WaSupThereBub So true, the FJ's are built for what they are suppose to do, the only Jeeps I like now are the CJ3B "High hood" and WW2 MB's and GPW's

  • @WaSupThereBub I understand man had a 1981 CJ7 and upgraded to a 78 FJ40. No comparison!

  • @jdgator95 yea jeeps ftw

  • Like the toyota, not sure about the red hair..

  • <3 my FJ

  • yeah! gotta love old school, my dads picking up a 78' i believe next week for $500 bucks, its in hawaii so rust is common but just the hood the rest is SOLID!

  • nice video mate love this car getting mine in a few days and i'm getting it for $1,200 cheap as and near to no rust! XD

  • Good Video,

Yes had a Fj40 and rolled one too. Still love em. Go the Bj42.....

  • fuck off mate

  • FJ40 is like Michael Jackson! A Legend!!!!!!

  • Very nicely done. Love the cruiser!

  • my uncle have 1978, 3.0L inline 4 diesel, it has mastive torque power!! my uncle getting 31MPG highway and 25MPG city

  • you have a legend, you have a landcruiser!

  • I would like to have one of those.

  • thats a 4x4

  • whats the mileage of one of those things? gas mileage i mean

  • like <20 mpg, 253 holden v8 would be a decent conversion if thats what your into

  • Yeah, don't buy these if you're concerned about fuel efficiency. I converted mine to LPG and it's a bit more affordable. Just with 2F motor.

  • jonbotness08 ... you obviously never owned an FJ40 lol Being an owner of one and having friends that own them, it would be a wet dream to get anywhere near 20mpg...lol Cory, the avg mileage is around 12mpg if you're lucky. I've heard tales of them getting up to 15mpg buy more likely people stretching the truth as you see everywhere. A V8 conversion with FUEL INJECTION might get you 17 and but you will lose a couple of those if you stick with a carb.

  • 10 milles per gallon but it doesn´t care because is part of the history.

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

  • again awesome video and awesoem FJ40 but I must tell you youre bezel is upside down....

  • nice vid i have 2 fj 45s and a tropy they are rought to ride in but they go any where

  • i love my tlc!!from Costa Rica!!!

  • I used to have a 78 and 76 FJ40 awesome 4x4's miss them alot!

  • best 4WD ever made

  • I agree!!! My dad used to have a 1993 FJ-40 made in Brazil, 5 speed with Mercedes-Benz OM-364 diesel engine (complete stock). Man, it was a real beast on the trail!

  • Thats a great video! i want one they just look great tough looking 4wd.

  • they are my dads got 3

  • i love my TLC Great video

  • great video... THANKS!
