This man....He has inspired me so much. But wow, I feel really bad for him. But hey, he created some of the best master pieces out there. :) I. Love. Max. Bemis. <3
@Valladega You really just need to get your head out of your bigot, racist ass. Take your hatred somewhere else, bro. No one wants your highly unintellectual words here.
my brother went through the same exact thing. he though i was an 'actor' and my mom wasn't really his mom. i'm glad to see someone elses story (famous or not) to know that my brother is going to be okay.
SA has been my favorite band for a few years now and I just recently read/researched in depth of Max's breakdown. This man is so inspirational and talented in so many ways, and this interview made me respect him much more. People living with mental disorders are stigmatized in such a negative light, so I can imagine how hard it is to talk about it. Watching this has been a very cathartic experience for me. Truman Show-like episodes have also happened to me. I honestly thought I was the only one.
OMG I have had these exacts feelings before it's so good to hear them come from someone I respect so much and see him pull through in an amazing way he's my hero and my idol:)
I think that his experience was surreal, but because of his overall view of life that has evolved since birth that him and other people have mistaken it for unnatural or "bipolar". Overall it was still a lesson that he learned from, no matter how bizzare it was, and that is what's important.
He's my idol too... I've watched this about 14 times now, I just love this guy. His music just speaks to me and this Half of Us thing had a great impact on me... I don't know, I just identify so much with the things he talks about in his songs and with his weird ideas it's almost scary...
I even think I might be bipolar, I've done some tests and they all pointed all that there is a high-ish probability that I'm bipolar I or II... nothing official. I'd have to go to a doctor to find out.
He's such a cool guy... I'd sell my soul on the black market just to give this man a hug and sit down with him until I'm convinced that he knows exactly how AMAZING he is. My fucking hero <3
It's great how he turned out, really, but I hope that everyone watching this can understand that you're not gonna be this lucky.
He has his band, its his life, his job. What if you cant have a band when you drop out of collage? What if youre just continuously using drugs and groping for money at every corner.
I admire him, many others do, but the ending is not always this pretty. But you don't...no..You CANT hear from those people. And many people watching this, aren't even near the ending
Sadly I'm not, and I'm not saying all people turn out this way... What I'm trying to say: Don't continue until you end up in a psychosis.
My mother found a week ago that I was self medicating, my girlfriend broke up with me, and I collapsed on my first test day on my job. Luckily my mum felt sorry for me and now I'm on medicine and stuff.
I'm just saying: Don't wait it out, try to take action, because one way or another: It's not gonna end pretty. And I've gotten lucky :).
Naa but so many people are like "He's my idol!"...Which is nice...but unless you have a succesful band, you're not getting out of your drug (ab)use the same way as he did, and that's what I'm trying to say ;o. If Youtube would only allow me to write with more than ~500 letters, I could explain myself a lot better ^^. Anywho, one way or another, self medication will have to stop and for the people out there still doing it - chose the best way (xD oh so cliché). But you know what I mean :P.
It's pretty amazing to hear someone like Max Bemis explain the throws of mental illness, it's not all the time that someone can give such a clear and accurate description like this.
no its not lol...what u are seeing is a common optical illusion,,pause the vid when both ears are on screen...the right ear is lit up from the light..the other ear is in the shade..which makes the optical illusion that one ear is bigger than the other
i know how that is. the medicine kinda helps. its not that bad. i usually don't take it. i just smoke instead. it helps a lot more. max bemis is my hero for real though. he knows how it is.
Holy Shit dude you were high and freaking out from your bipolar disorder at the same time, dude holy shit if that happened to me I probably wouldve accidently killed myself
lol yes i do still think weed is a harmless plant...abuse it and yeah it can bite you in the ass but idk, i like smokin a little dro every once in a while and playin guitar all day. not like i rely on it to be happy, more like rely on it rarely when im in an extreme state of boredom...
i know me too, im just getting into say anything. max sounds like such a rad guy it makes me wanna go listen to is a real boy and just think about the lyrics haha.
i feel really bad for bipolar people, but really get bothered by them, especially since i dated a bipolar girl and she basically turned me bipolar. (this was before i knew she was bipolar) i just wanted to help her so much and make her feel better. and when i found out i couldn't no matter how hard i tried. it made me feel completely worthless. not to mention her promiscuous lifestyle she hid from me and the rest of the world, contributed to making me feel worthless.

@flyingsteve07 he didnt just sing his problems out. he played guitar and bass while singing his problems out. if you have ever listened to music and the lyrics, 90% of all songs is about someone singing about his problems, life, friends, family, something close to them. everyone else in the band is good but that say anything is nothing without him. hell they cancelled 3 shows on a tour because of those problems he sings about.
This is amazing. Everything he is talking about and the mania that surrounds it. It's not about drugs or anything like that, it's the complex nature of people and their thoughts and imbalances.
