  • The sound is incredible, but what about fuel efficiency? Is it burning much more fuel than on stock intake?

  • Metal symphony ^_^ OH YEAH !

  • Tease.....

  • sedap bunyi trumpet demo

  • I´s really a Symphony

  • In my experience the stock trumpets with the surge tank are easier to get good throttle response from just around idle when compared with open velocity stacks due to the air turbulence causing better fuel mixing. I had to switch to sequential fuel (went from ms2/extra to ms3) to get back the off-idle smoothness and response.

  • omg lame! ..rev the dam thing will ya!!! .. we all know it will sound way better than that farting

  • hight revs please__!!

  • are they bad for yr engine-sucking up dust and shit??

  • @321CrashandBurn you can get filters for them. ive seen one big long subway sandwich lookin filter for all 4 cylinders once. lol but yeah. one filter each cylinder, ITBs and viola!!!! lol

  • so when u do this, u just remove the air filter and box from the car altogether?

  • a friend of mine just did a 4A-GE blacktop swap to his AE86 trueno. His car was already a piece of art, now it is a masterpiece. The AE86 is one of those cars that has a strong vibe and I love it. I absolutely MUST get one!

  • Sounds cheap

  • aww thats a great sound

  • Well Im sorry but thats not tuned right

    sounds like BBppppllllllpt

  • i want to put velocity stacks in my blacktop.now it has nothing, just straight individual throttle bodies.because i see different length for the velocity stacks, how long they should be?i am running stock camshafts.

  • Try P.A.S.S racings short velocity stacks, not quite the lenght of the ones in this video but atleast ure sure they`ll fit inside filter box (I mean, who doesnt use filter nowadays unless they wanna kill the engine :P )

  • i don't use filter box :)

  • Obviously not, but I thought you used a open filter adapted to the manifold?

Either way I`m not going to argue with you, you know what works best for your engine more than I do :)

Some times an engine with open ITB`s/carbs can last for years and years, other times it lasts for a week, depending on the surroundings.

If you dont use air filter and the engine still runs after 2 years of use, I`d say keep it up :D

  • @aaabasilis depends when you want the power to kick in... in general the shorter the intake, from the end of the trumpet to the intake valve, the better it is for power up top and the worse it is for torque down low and vice versa

  • makes me miss my AW11's :(

sounds great but rev it up higher.

  • 420witchdoctor go ride your fixi and keep car talk to the big boys. How in the hell would a tennis ball flow air? Evripidescelicakias yes it is possible to itb the 16v, But with all honesty it be easier and cheaper to just do the black top 4ag. Not to mention all the performance you will gain from a 20v.

  • You should've rev it higher.

  • the stig is everyone, yet no one.

  • @whoisthestig Though some say he is an arabian jewel thief

  • @whoisthestig its MATT DAMON!!!!

  • No, he isn't.

  • @marlo916 not he was for one epesode only because ferrari diddnt trust anyone esle to drive the car

  • @marlo916 ben collins ;)

  • Hello. Since I see some guys around here knowing stuff about ITBs, how much would it take to install one of those kits to a Red Top 4AGE?

And, are filters compulsory? Thank you! :)

  • Probably about 200-600 dollars, depending on who you know. Oh, and tennis balls with an X of electrical tape over them, sitting in the tubes, work wonders as a filter.

  • lol wtf they only put the tennis balls on the tubes for show to keep shit out lol

  • That's what a filter does, smart guy.

  • Any idea on the 0-60 times of a 20v fitted 86?

  • Probably about 5-7 seconds as a rough estimate, but it would be pretty damn quick...

  • Alright, thanks man

  • WTF, tennis balls wouldn't let any air in!

  • Brand new ones with thick fuzz do. I've seen them on Webers on old Datsuns and Volkswagens.

  • Filters extend the life of the engine, though they degrade the responsiveness of open trumpets. Individual exposed pod filters are jizz, but any setup is OK as well...except socks...don't put sock filters on at all costs. They're shit at filtering and lower the performance dramatically. They're not very long lasting, either.

  • Thanks for the info dude.

  • Nice sound

  • Comment removed

  • That is the sweetest sound. I've got the silver top in my fx Corolla. Love it.

  • You notice any serious gain out of this? (other then the raging boner when you rev it)

  • Throttle response, Low end torque, high end power.

It's almost like a small supercharger; Costs a bunch and requires careful retuning. One plus is, aside from initial retuning (assuming you invest properly) there isn't the big increase in engine stress and maintenance.

The biggest long term problem is, you walk around with a stiffy whenever the thing is running.

  • Damned right

  • @Piro42

20v ITBs are not so effective on the 16v 4age because of difference in wavelength, the resonate at around 1200 - 1400 rpm , in order for the itbs to work on a 16v they have to be either motorcycle short or really long

  • @Piro42 hahaha I can agree with this. I'm running a Focus ST on Jenvey ITBs and it's nothing other than the noise that's preventing me from accepting a silly cheap offer on a supercharger :D

  • @W1ldSm1le i think because each cyl. has its own little mini carb...but still fuel injected as opposed to real carbs just dumping the fuel...i believe just from aircraft engineerin knowledge that your throttle would respond much quicker...and aside from the pleasing harmonics you get better air delivery or atleast more direct delivery as opposed to a manifold...

  • when you run the filters it doesnt make that induction sound does it?

  • still does, but slightly muffled and not as 'crisp'

  • @whoisthestig we love a good ae86 or as we like to call them twincams over here in northern ireland ;)

  • @XMElikepuddinxx I could tell you've never been around ITB's They still sound tha same.

  • I've never considered the extra HP gained by ITB's to be worth the risk of getting crap sucked in there and killing your engine. But then again, it's your car lol

  • This individual throttle body assembly is STOCK with the engine. It was part of the design to acheive superior RESPONSE.

I think most people mis-interpret 'ITBs' as the velocity stacks/air horns they see. An E46 M3 for example, has stock ITBs. It is enclosed in a plenum box, but it is still an ITB assembly. Running air horns also does not mean risk of 'crap' getting sucked in, because there are filter elements you install over the horns.

I use filter socks, except when I film youtube vid ;)

  • Well yeah, I was referring specifically to open ITB's and not ones connected to a single intake. That's cool though, it's good to keep them covered when you're driving. Have you ever thought of swapping in an F20C? That would be a sweet project I think. Pretty expensive though.

  • Yeah it is a sweet project indeed.

But never crossed my mind, the 4A-GE is the core of the AE86's charm IMO :)

  • i tot it wasnt so nice on itbs, until the growl came. that growl, is intimidating! hahaha i like it. =D

  • PERFECT!!!!

  • ahh the Roar....

  • this is the same setup im running on my AE86 rally car, silvertop itb's,technotoytuning manifold, cams and a link computer, check out my vids if you want to hear what they can sound like and feel free to ask questions on how to make it work etc

  • Music to my ears ;)

  • excellet ,, sound like dk,, AE 86

  • Sounds mint. Must growl under acceleration.

  • I Take it this doesnt pass smog does it?

  • Vehicle year is exempt from emissions testing. But FYI the new engine actually burns cleaner and gets better milage compared to the old unit it replaced. All OEM emissions equipment are present and functioning.

  • Oh, i see thanks for the reply

  • so which state are you in?

  • So when you install itb you loose the air filter?

  • no, you can still put filters over them.

  • man, that's really got a sweet symphony...

    4A-GE...

    lovely orchestra playing

  • The last rev - Chilling.

  • zero cool agrees. (inside joke) ;)

  • lol glad to see somebody appreciates good things (dropped the k for a c though). "you're elite"

    Hack the planet

  • ya sounds nice

  • 5/5
