Loving was a good show, but it had too many fingers in the pie. It had a revolving door of writers and producers. I don't think Agnes Nixon cared for Loving as much as her other shows, she rarely mentions it!
i tear up pretty bad when i hear the soap opera theme music of the 70s and 80s. where has time taken us? i wish we could rewind the button and just go back one more time, if not just one more day.
@aaronlobbley So very well said and I agree completely. For me, nothing will ever touch the themes from LOVE OF LIFE (1977-1980), and ANOTHER WORLD (1975-1981). Simply magnificent....
Never watched this show but what a lovely closing -- although I never did like a show to run it's crawl and NOT go back to the title design. Other than that it was perfect: music, credit crawl speed.
SayNoToOurSoap, thanks for posting the closing credits to LOVING's pilot. What I found interesting is that DEBBI MORGAN is the only actress from LOVING to appear on both the show's pilot and the series finale episodes.
Even though Debbi played Carrie Mansfield in the pilot, and she later played Dr. Angie Hubbard in the show's finale, it's still amazing to see that she was the only actress to appear in the pilot and the finale.
"Loving" had a spinoff of their show, when it went off the air in November 1995. ABC aired "The City" from then, until March of 1997. That soap was short lived and was easily replaced with other ABC Daytime soaps("General Hospital", "All My Children", etc), but classic episodes of them.
Did that last a while into the regular series? The next earliest credit crawl to reference on here, from a March 1984 episode, didn't have periods in "ABC". Perhaps you were talking about the early days of the ABC TV network?
The copyright notice was also different for Loving's pilot. Beginning with the first daytime episode through 1989, the top line would read "1983 (or subsequent years) Copyright" instead.

Even though Loving was not one of the better soap operas the theme was gorgeous! What a great time for music in general!

What a lovely theme for a show. Wish they'd make themes like this again.

How nice is it not to hear a voiceover, and to see a real credit crawl! Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

I'd forgotten how they used to put periods after A.B.C. I never understood why.
