Other than XP, Vista doesn't make its users feel like they've just made major mistakes. And Windows does make a lot of mistakes, so an error message with a soft 'ding' or whatsoever makes you feel that it's not that bad your computer just crashed once again.

I even saw a video here with Fripp on the recording session doing a beautiful soundscape for it, but I can't hear anything of that on this cheap sounds.. Does anybody know what happened?

Heh, the old sounds are definately more pronounced.  The new ones are quite etheral and "fluffy" sounding. Gladly, I'll never hear them as the first thing I do after installing any operating system is disable the system sounds - I don't need the computer to beep at me. Ever.
