Actually, it's the Music Industry against Musicians. Music is not an industry it is a language of communication - such as all other arts aspire. Music is to the Arts as Physics is to Science. And yet, it is the most delicate of the Arts and has been subject to exploitation and manipulation.

Musicians need to be able to earn a living - otherwise, amateurs which are employed elsewise will be the only ones able to compose & play music. Society needs to find a way to sustain the best musicians -

Seriously, when's the last time you didn't see "Can't wait to go see this movie!" comments on movie trailers? SOPA is a way to keep the current income constant. This is basically the complaint - "We made 20 million less than last year. We went from one billion to 980 million. OH NOES". People will never give up the social aspect of going to a movie, or buying CD's and records. Beethoven would probably try to stick his head up his ass trying to figure out what the fuck is going on these days.

nice video, I'm a fan of Joss Stone (my nick is very clear xb). She had a problem with EMI because they wanted to control every aspect of creating music. So Joss left them and founded her own independent label, now has less publicity, and appears less in the media (who are puppets of the labels) but she has total control of her music. She should be more recognized in the mainstream, but many people prefer to keep listening "artists" like Gaga and laboratory creations of the record companies.

Pro-Tip, SOPA isn't really about Piracy.

SOPA is about finding a convenient excuse to shut down dissident communications, so if a channel has videos that oppose what the government does for instance, all they have to do is suspect (they don't even need proof) that it links to a piracy site.

The prices of popular cd's in a popular music stores are flatout ridiculous..

I refuse to pay 15 to 20 euro for an album. And i always pay for my cd's (support the artist).

Every starting band/musician asks no more than 10 euro for their albums, which is fair to me.

Thats why the industry is killing themselves and will never be able to control the internet i think. I wonder how much money from that 15-20 euro albums is actually going to bands/musicians.

Piracy provides free advertising. The people who download a music album, a lot of times finish in buying it. And SOPA will pass, but piracy will get even more aggressive. I, as a programmer, hate and love piracy at the same time. I believe free internet (neutral politically and economically), but at the same time I want to make money of my work, and piracy actually isn't letting me do it (or earn a living). For industry giants, piracy is nothing, but for people like me, it actually kills.
