I'm open-minded when it comes to metal of all varieties, experimental music, etc. but this is trash. The opening was promising, like Panzerfaust or something, but the vocals decimated any measure of attraction I initially held for this band.
I actually think it sounds awesome, like Bob Dylan & The Band's Basement Tapes, or early Enslaved or Satyricon. Sounds like the whole band has one microphone between them and the vocalist is the closest one to it. He drowns out everyone else! Sounds AWESOME like that, whether intentional or not.

I the only striborg tracks that I have are from A Tragic Journey Towards the Light, Isle de Morts, Embittered Darkness, and Nefaria. I could put up some stuff from the first two.
striborg is not reffered to as an "are", are indicates plural (more then one band member) and striborg only has one member Sin Nanna (Sumerian crescent moon god).

The image is considered appropriate, but just not the music. Perhaps the cover artist was a BM fan, but it amounts to false advertizing.
I dont believe that consumer"ism" is an ideology. But I think that they didnt want to alienate people with music that is so radically different from what they are used to.
Striborg is really not as good as they are portrayed in these hand picked selections. I dont want to mislead anyone into buying thier albums thinking that they will find more of the same, though I probably am.
As an avid listener and appreciater of Black Metal itself, I must say that there's a very thin line between this kind of art just being "noise" and conversely being "true". I'm afraid to say that Striborg, especially on the first track, has crossed the line into just being nothing but "noise" with black metal vocals. Sure, the drumming is decent, but there's not structure, it's just mindless blast beat after blast beat plodding along restlessly. Go ahead and attack me for it, just my thoughts..
I don't think that there really is a fine line. We each have our own line, which can move. I find that if you can't get past the noise at first, repeated listening can bring to the surface what lies underneath. The reason I included that first track, is for the main riff that plays for the first 45 seconds. It is so cold, haunting, simple, and reminiscent of Darkthrone, but unique. The first time I heard it I thought it was pure genius, and it's catchy.
I don't pay attention to druming, it is more just the background to "fill" the music, like the noise. Another thing about noise is that it allows your imagination to add to the music, much like in a dark room, where you may see things that aren't really there. Since this is not human music after all, you need to have that element of fantasy. To be sure, some bands really do push the limits. Someone should try a hoax and release an album of pure static and call it black metal.
Pardon me if I came off as dismissing Striborg as utter crap, I do admire the atmosphere and the lyrics he incorporates into his music. I have the albums "Solitude" and "Ghostwoodlands" and I think some of the songs on those albums are actually pretty good. It's only on some of his songs that I feel he could have done a better job conveying his atmosphere through a means other than rampant static. I feel Striborg is something that I have to CONVINCE myself to enjoy, rather than simply enjoy.
I like the part where it was ambient.

I'm open-minded when it comes to metal of all varieties, experimental music, etc. but this is trash. The opening was promising, like Panzerfaust or something, but the vocals decimated any measure of attraction I initially held for this band.

I actually think it sounds awesome, like Bob Dylan & The Band's Basement Tapes, or early Enslaved or Satyricon. Sounds like the whole band has one microphone between them and the vocalist is the closest one to it. He drowns out everyone else! Sounds AWESOME like that, whether intentional or not.

As an avid listener and appreciater of Black Metal itself, I must say that there's a very thin line between this kind of art just being "noise" and conversely being "true". I'm afraid to say that Striborg, especially on the first track, has crossed the line into just being nothing but "noise" with black metal vocals. Sure, the drumming is decent, but there's not structure, it's just mindless blast beat after blast beat plodding along restlessly. Go ahead and attack me for it, just my thoughts..

I don't think that there really is a fine line. We each have our own line, which can move. I find that if you can't get past the noise at first, repeated listening can bring to the surface what lies underneath. The reason I included that first track, is for the main riff that plays for the first 45 seconds. It is so cold, haunting, simple, and reminiscent of Darkthrone, but unique. The first time I heard it I thought it was pure genius, and it's catchy.

I don't pay attention to druming, it is more just the background to "fill" the music, like the noise. Another thing about noise is that it allows your imagination to add to the music, much like in a dark room, where you may see things that aren't really there. Since this is not human music after all, you need to have that element of fantasy. To be sure, some bands really do push the limits. Someone should try a hoax and release an album of pure static and call it black metal.

Pardon me if I came off as dismissing Striborg as utter crap, I do admire the atmosphere and the lyrics he incorporates into his music. I have the albums "Solitude" and "Ghostwoodlands" and I think some of the songs on those albums are actually pretty good. It's only on some of his songs that I feel he could have done a better job conveying his atmosphere through a means other than rampant static. I feel Striborg is something that I have to CONVINCE myself to enjoy, rather than simply enjoy.
