  • I think one of the reasons people on the left hate the book is because they're so informed and guided by feminists. Feminists hate the book because one of it's aspects is as a scathing indictment of the behaviour of women.

  • Where... the... hell... did they find this interviewer

  • - Reads like the Book of Revelations or the Beano or the unabridged Ulysses.. -

  • once in the interview is over, a mysterious knife stabbed in the mouth of the interviewer!

  • "is it a good book?" are you fucking kidding me?!

  • @filipjaworski it was a clever question. Really got him talking.

  • that interviewer is one funny guy

  • how is Bret easton Ellis any more dated than any other author ever? Everything in AP is still relevant in some form to this day

  • Oh man, listening to this clueless interviewer is like having teeth pulled.

  • I think Bret's mask of sanity is about to slip.

  • Sushi is out? WTF?

  • Wow, BEE is one patient guy.

  • What the hell was with that "dated" question? That's like saying we can't appreciate any period piece because it's dated............ How is Bret Easton Ellis even indulging this clown?

  • He comes up with far better responses than the questions deserve.

I completely agree with him at 4:30, every generation will have an equivalent to Spago, Duran Duran and tortoiseshell Wayfarers, you don't need to know the product or icon to understand his novels.

  • Some of the worst questions I've ever heard asked. "Is American Psycho a good book?" WHAT?! It's a tribute to Ellis' genius that he can suffer this fool and still come up with really insightful responses.

  • This interviewer is HORRIBLE.

  • I'm not gay but I would have sex with Bret Easton Ellis

  • funny ?

i remember after the first time i read it, the time i was still laughing, i finaly started to think about that one line in the book somewhere at the end

though i have a dutch version, it coud be translated in something like this:

'it was never suposed to be funny'

next time i read it, witch i will because i still dont understand everything in it and i like reading and i like the book, i will still kinda laugh, but not realy

  • Very interesting insight, thanks for the video. He makes interesting answers out of such questions!

  • doesn't this make you desire to be an interviewer? ... so you could do your part in replacing the bad ones?

  • The interviewer may be a bit green but his questions, such as "is it a good book?", actually render some really interesting questions. Perhaps interviewers should try to ask more stupid questions, since it clearly makes for a good interview.

  • 'is, uh, american psycho a good book, you think?' dude... fuck.

  • @Nintendorks12345 Yes I've read the book twice and thoroughly enjoyed on equal measure on both experiences with the book. I was slightly hasty the first time because the sex and violence was notorious for it's detail yet it did on a positive note explain a lot to me about psychology, sociology, politics and so forth

  • worst. interviewer. ever.

way to waste an opportunity with a fascinating author with inane questions.

Was this guy interviewing for his high school newspaper?

  • I am really yuck with this interviewer--ass. Makes me glad I'm not a writer!

  • He has clarified a few things here that will help in me understanding the book

  • @1987Bateman Have you read it?

  • @1987Bateman With a username like 1987Bateman, I would assume you understood it just fine ;-) Great novel. Really enjoyed it.

  • this interviewer.. is terrible

  • thumbs up for BEE

    thumbs down for interviewer
