  • I have a HIP HOUSE Radio Channel on MIXlr. I am Dj Gilbert Warda. Google me and come and listen to the best Italian, US, German, UK Hip House Music. This was truly a Masterpiece at the ZIGGURAT NIGHTCLUB 88-92 AUSTRALIA. We represent HIP HOUSE Today!!

  • D O to the C they cant cope!

  • I've loved this song since it came out in '89. I know all the lyrics by heart.

I STILL can't rap it. Impossible rap. Impossible! How did he record this?

I guess that is why is called, "Portrait Of A Masterpiece".

  • Its not just ' rap '

He is Hippin to House music

    Hip House Rest in peace

  • @llucid8 Say it again brother, tell the world.

    MVITA.

  • How the hell were you able to upload this?

I tried uploading it on another account of mine but it was taken down by the WMG cunts.

  • @RiseOfSuperDogAway96 I have no idea. Some of the songs i have uploaded were removed, but most of them were all of the sudden accepted again later. Must be lucky i guess

  • vicious. this is what rap SHOULD be. as fast as he's going, you can STILL understand what he's talking about.

  • he would be easily better than ice cube!hes like a big daddy kane of the west side!

  • so slept on

  • Comment removed

  • this is the jam!!!!! listening to this brings back sum good ol times and memories :)

  • One of the best hip-hop albums ever.

  • dope

  • "Portrait of a... hold on Dre, stop the beat, let me catch my breath..."

"Hey man why you stopped it, that was funky!"

    "To catch my breath!"

    "Aight, you got it?"

    "Yeah."

    "Kick it."

Priceless. They don't make rap like this anymore.

  • Best rapper ever.

Too bad he had that accident.

  • the cool part

portriat of a master..... hold on dre stop the beat let me get my breath, hey yo man why ya stop if that was funky, to get my breath!! aaight, you got it, yee, kik it!.

that's why dre makes this song so diferent than other ones.

  • my favorite rap song ever and record.

  • Cant believe this was HOUSE!

  • This is when the West Coast had some serious lyricists. DOC, King Tee, Comptons Most Wanted, Ice Cube (still doing it). For a while there was all this non rapping riding the gangbanging era wagon dudes. But then the early to mid 90's new school brought back some ill lyricists.

  • Ice lost his voice man it's a shame

  • the DOC runs shit!

  • im hearing you.....but what about joell ortiz?? he got it all, except recognition!!

  • Joell Ortiz is one of the most unknown rappers out...I don't know what happen on Aftermath Records, but aleast he's still put out mix tapes! Don't forget Crooked I!!

  • Way before his time man, the D.O.C. of funk.

  • DOC would destroy all of the present day rap artists!

  • i wish doc had his voice id love to hear him rip on some of the new rappers

  • i rather have the old-school on play back instead of listening to any new shit

  • me2

  • me3

  • Hell yeah!

    I heard that!!

  • still drop this in my sets.gotta test print in la in 89 and it still brings the house down today.respect to the man who posted this tune.

  • Sick tune!

  • I got a nice playlist, standard is high, all about classics. 4 those who know the difference between Hip-Hop & Rap.

Real Hip-Hop is all about stayin underground. The only way we're ever gonna get anywhere is if we step into the dark and bring the light.

  • Funny how this song is just over two mintutes but D.O.C. gets more in there than most people do with 5 minutes...

  • he would have been on everybody's top ten if not for the accident

  • HOW TRU HE WAS THE BEST

  • @cstyle10 You dam right!

  • the best spit ever!!

puts eminem and snoop to shame !!

shame his career was cut early!

  • See this here.

It's like running behind a Lamborghini..

    You aint catching that shit......

  • good but the flip side is much better.

  • That's gotta be one of the hardest rap songs ever to rap-along to. I've been a D.O.C. fan since '88 and I know all of their songs by heart, but this one still eludes me sometimes.... even with the lyrics right in front of me!

  • public enemy is better but he is awesome

  • Someone name me a rapper active today who can rapper better than the D.O.C in his short prime.

  • my favorite rap song ever and record. to bad he lost his voice

  • Just got this CD a month ago along with Helter Skelter. The D.O.C. is the best!

  • nice

  • Smokin'!!

  • super dope lyrics the d.o.c. is gold

  • bad ass jam portrait of a master piece.

  • damn dis is heavy sikest flow i eva heard!!...braaaap!!

  • To catch my breath! A real rapper with a album that should go down in history for just being so fresh!(Did I say fresh?) Yeah I'm that old!LOL!

  • WOOOW!! thats why the album is called "No One Can Do It Better"

  • Da D.O.C waz one of da bess, but he waznt from compton he waz from texas

  • It ain't where ya from it's where ya AT !

  • I like how he stops in the middle of the track just to catch his breath.

  • was that real? or just to have it in the song

    ? lol

  • I think it was just to have it in the song. A joke for how fast he goes on this track.

  • yea lol

  • Bad ass song straight outta Compton

  • no doubt man.nice to see someone remembers.nice fuckin ending too.

  • Yeah the grand finale.Supper tight...

  • I only wore filas back then they were fresh

  • YOu wanna see N.W.A. at their best? Find the last song The D.O.C.'s album The Grand Finale.

    Best posse song ever!

  • There is one D O C. damn your fine!

  • simply brilliant

  • vfrom wikipedia :(

"Not long after his debut album was released, his vocal cords were severed in a car accident, which would prove to be an insurmountable obstacle for his continued career as a vocalist."

  • i don't know what insurmountable means. but Heltah Skeltah was a super album even with his fucked up voice

  • It means that it would be too hard for him to still be a rapper

  • but last album he sounded better than on helter skelter

  • Than his voice is getting better

I heard that its back to normal too

  • YES!!!!Cant't touch D.O.C.

  • WOOO SHiiT D.O.C. WAS SO SEXii

  • D.O.C. Hold on Dre stop the beat and let me catch my breath

Dre: Hey man why you stoppin' that was funky

    D.O.C. To catch my breath

    Dre: You got it

    D.O.C. Yeah

    Dre: Kick it

One of the illest moments in recorded history!

  • without a doubt one of the best rappers ever

  • One of the Best? he is THE BEST

  • beter than Rakim?

  • it's the diggy diggy doc ya'll doc ya'll doc ya'll!!!!

i bought this cassette when it first came out in 1989. it stood the test of time!!! WORD!

  • the respect he gets from his peers both east and west speaks volumes. anyone who was around for old scholl hip hop remembers when he was the original person to be on the red alert charts from the west coast. thats a fact.

  • 1) BDK

    2) DOC

    3) Rakim

  • well...normally I would agree but DOC above BDK, and Rakim can't come to Holland anymore since he PLAYBACKED !!! last time...Lame ass....damn..

  • yeah i really want that one, it's probly on ebay but i don't have a Vinyl player

  • In my opinion, he deserves even more respect than his somewhat legendary status attests to. Skills like ya cant believe. This and the slower Briggete are amazing, though for different reasons.

  • dope video! brings back mad memories.

  • damn kill this track D.O.C.

  • Helter Skelter sounds so scary with his compared to his Nobody can do it better.

  • There needs to be a new VH1 documentary or the like on the topic of The D.O.C. 'cause the The D.O.C. is one of the most profilic lyricists of all time. The D.O.C. is immortal.

  • Yea they do need to have a VH1 documentary of The D.O.C. They can't just forget about The D.O.C. like that,he's one of the best rappers of all time!!!

  • any1 no where can i get DOC songs from albums Helter Skelter and Deuce, i checked Limewire but they only got songs from his first album

  • i spent months looking for it on the net, but i'm such a DOC fan so i had to buy all of the albums, i could upload some of them on youtube, the reason i haven't done it before is that helter skelter and deuce aren't exactly full of hits, but both has some dope tracks

  • Helter Skelter was originally supposed to be an Ice Cube and Dr Dre album

  • I know but DOC was mad at Dre so he took the title and some of the lyrics. Natural Born Killaz was supposed to be for Helter Skelter, and in some pictures you can see Dre weaaring a hat that says helter skelter

  • i have the deuce album on my computer, so i can send it to you, if you want me to, let a brotha know

  • No one has Funky Enough? I need to see that one.

  • its on limewire

  • Lyrical wizardry!!

  • I don't have the formula, i'm suprised noone else has it

  • I have the formula

  • whats up with "the formula"

  • someone post funky enuff

  • the DOC is one of the best of all time. It's a shame he lost his voice after his first album. He was raw as hell without all the curses and bullshit. True lyricist, right up there with Rakim and KRS 1 IMO.

  • The D.O.C. was one the best rappers back in the day. That's messed up how his voice got fucked up in that car accident. Why did it have to happen to him?? That's some hard shit!!! He was a true MC.

  • the DOC one of the best real talk

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST OVERLOOKED EMCEES OF ALL FUCKIN TIMES. This nigga was WAYYYY AHEAD OF HIS FUCKIN Time. His style was like no other and he's the best rapper from the south there ever was. Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, LL, all those niggas better be lucky DOC fucked his voice up back then because he would've burried those niggas.

  • Doc Kills it Rite here!!

  • the D.O.C. original OG

  • this dude is tha shit, he wrote about half of easy duz it, u wanna cop the song from ruthless to death row thats hot. his new album is gonna be called voice through hot vessels and word is its gonna be dre produced! i think dre's verse on lil ghetto boy was the d.o.c best work that shits tight! the formula is my fave doc song

  • u ahould out that song THE FORMULA BY THE DOC on here

  • Yeah i know but i ain't got the video for it, it was posted on youtube but then it got deleted so...

  • still playin this out - original and mixes rock.

  • ;)

i'ma post more videos for the DOC he's got a lot of great songs, i think he's dropping a new album in 08, read the DubCNN interview with DOC

  • That dude was the best rapper of the time. He was my favorite.Wrote a bunch of the best NWA songs. He was ahead of his time and it really sucks that he got injured, but that's life sometimes. Thanks for posting this.

  • dope !
