  • hey all those movies are my favourite, GOOD TASTE.

  • These ruin shortwave radio for hundred of metres. They are under investigation by several authorities.

  • Really appreciate the video. I would like to see the latency and packet loss as well.

All of the problems are going to lie in the wire that was used to power the house (jacket and coating type) and the fact that that wire is not STP or UTP. I would imagine UDP communications and games would work great over powerline vs wireless while fire transfers might be comparable depending on the distance run of both.

The performance is also going to vary depending on WHICH sockets you use to Rx/Tx.

  • never place a ps3 over a cable box or anything that can overheat. that blocks the vents and can cause overheating on the ps3 and cable box due to blocking the vents. i understand if you dont have anymore room but im just giving you a tip

  • lots of torrent movies lol

  • i have 6 pluglinks..3 floors apart. the throughput is slower then wireless (over lan transfers). It doesnt bottleneck the internet. It is WAY more reliable then wireless

  • @200Mbps being theoretical...get it; but generally speaking I have to say I get much closer to the 54Mbps on wireless than w/ powerlines. With a newer house (< 5 years) and on the same ring line, admittedly I was pretty disappointed in the performance.

  • @somelifeblog

How fast is your internet and how fast do you need?

I wish my internet was that fast.

  • @AgentGhost 35M down 15M up. I need as fast as I can get. :-)

  • So technically PowerLine is 2x the speed of Wireless...I hate wireless, and Im a Networking guy, and Im interested in these powerline products, and it seems to be a lot smoother than Wireless..

  • @dc619 it is smoother but the speed will vary depending on distance and line quality

  • 200Mbps is only the theoretical maximum just like 54Mbps for Wireless G. in practice you will never ever be able to get that speed. Power lines are an inherently noisy environemnt, and very difficult arena for high speed transmission.

Building wiring, the devices that are plugged to the same ring line and things that are on and off are the most prominant facts on performance. Distance is also another important factor.

  • @shriramvenu correct.

  • Anybody use this on their PS3? Just wondering what the ping/lag is like. Does it make a big difference from wireless?

  • my friend has a cisco and it sucks i finally unplugged it and ran the ethernet straight from the modem to his xbox

  • how many device can each adapter connect to?

  • @mepatrick 4

  • sub par performance because of high level of noise in the house. as signal vs noise ratio -> noise (high), therefore degrade the performance. as you mention surge protector add more noise to environment. I've seen a solutions (keyword: "#surestreamer"). Recently, just tested with "wd livewire" - (result: ~ 137Mbps in 3 phased power) - impressive!

Got me interested but I am waiting for them to be launched before I can buy! You should see for yourself.

  • is this thing even safe lol?

  • These things shouldn't be legal!!

  • @Tubbs66 why shouldnt they be legal???

  • @Tubbs66 you shouldn't be legal

  • Comment removed

  • @iToasterman megabit and megabyte are not the same... you know that right?

  • @hyperliteBo ... sorry, lol it was very late when i posted that comment... XD ima remove it.. and yes

  • rush hour 2 ftw.

  • First off, you need to make sure the specs are 200MBps (MegaBytes per second) and not 200 Mbps (MegaBits per second, 8 bits in a byte).

Also, your computer may have been why it was slow. You used a copy test which is more likely limited by your hard drive than your network (25MBps is about the fastest I've ever seen on my system).

  • and also 17 mbps(1.4mbs) is not 25Mbs(2.0mbs) on screen download speed and it say up to ...

  • you install yellow dox linux on ur ps3?

  • if you get one adapter with a 4-port switch is the switch and adapter as well?

  • This technology always seemed flawed to me...I always imagined that there would be major signal loss from every electronic device plugged into your homes grid...not to mention the unpredictable nature of electromagnetic interference.

  • can this be plugged into an extended power cord

  • @Player9090 nope it has to be plugged directly

  • will the settings be under wired or wireless?

  • Equipment actually pretty cool, but it really necessary to use the Adapters that would be kind of a switch.

Why could turn on the power line into a Wireless Router 300Mbps and typically use wired or 1000Mbps, that the network cables C5E not support 200MB / S will not use the connection to the MAX.

    Bye

  • is there any softvare that will tell me bandwidth, speed, ping time etc.*?

  • @escalade220 you can use iperf.

  • @surestreamer thanks mate.

  • can this work with a wireless connection

  • Can you plug this into your wireless router which has a modem plugged into it?

  • I recently purchesed the Linksys PLK300 and have installed it to stream video through my Sony Bravia HD tv. It is working properly, but the quality (through netflix streaming) is very poor. Has anyone found a way to boost the speed through your powerline ethernet? Is there a way to change the configuration of it or anything I can configure on my router?

  • @daved532 - there is a major speed difference based on if both on are the same 110 circuit or not. I've read it could be as much as 1/4th the speed if they both aren't on the same circuit. If you have another outlet that isn't on the same breaker within reach, try moving it.

  • i thought power line uses a little ac hoc network that was hidden, the one you connect you your router sends ac hoc signal with the internet, the one you connect to your ps3 receives the signal , it donesnt send the data through the power, so if you move it too far to each other they wont work or hte speed will get slower

  • @CharlietoKind No, that would be a wireless network or WiFi transfer that is externalized from the on-board WiFi adapter, to external modules. The Powerline systems utilizes the Power cables to transmit data that is encrypted and decrypted by the two units and made into data computers, routers, PS3, etc, can understand.
