Well, this is tottally wierd, the thing at 5:19 i discovered that "scale" bout 2months ago, never figured what it is,but i sounded really cool!thanx man!(sry for bad english)
Do you have any videos/lessons up on string damping. I don't mean string muting to get a chugga chugga sound, I mean muting/damping so that while you are playing the notes in a solo, the other strings don't ring out, make unwanted noises. I especially get noise on the srings just adjacent to the one I am playing.
I've recently jst uploaded some of my music. I would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes of your spare time checking it out, and don't forget to suscribe :)
Hey bob, nice lesson, im not great at learing by ear, if you made a tab on ultimate guitar, or a tab section on you're website it would help me and a fellow friend out but for now im going to use this lesson to train my ears and fingers together \m/
i wanna know how to do some of those really fast melodic bend a good example it the triviums song the decieved the solos got some chronic bends that i cant quite nail im fine with the sweeps and scale there just prectice but i dont know what to practice witht these damn bends!!!!!
ok i used to knock you a lot, but i'll admit after watching some more of you're videos you are actually a really good teacher, so now that you probably remember but i'm sorry for knocking you, good job on the vids, beginners should definitely watch this if they want to get way better faster
with my metal soloing, especially for fast fills that involve alternative picking, i use the pentatonic shape but in a chromatic form if that makes sense |-12--13--14--15-| like that (it makes me feel a bit noobish lol, but it has the metal feel to it at the same time), but when i play a bit slower i use the pentatonic scale or the regular minor scale
@tghoopz yea the chromatic scale does make you feel abit noobish but there are really cool ways of using it... synister gates (avenged sevenfold) uses it in some cool ways and hes a really established guitarist... so it makes me feel better about it haha
Anybody wanting to write a guitar solo, remember, it's about the build-up and the feel. All of Randy Rhoad's guitar solos are technically impressive, but his best solos are the ones that have the best mood to them. Mr. Crowley... Crazy Train... They're great because of the feeling you get when you hear them. It's not just scales, modes, arpeggios....
@706films dude I don't care what anyone says you fucking rock!! Thanx for making soloing patterns so easy to learn that's information that you didn't have to share and took the time to do so, so in my eyes your the shit.!
THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS! I downloaded this video with YoutubeDownloader (hehehehe>:D) so that I didn't need to take the guitar EVERY TIME up to the livingroom. THANK YOU!! I'm a beginner, but I managed to learn this. Ehmm... I used 1 1/2 hours on it XD But.. yeah. It's hard for a beginner with a cheap guitar. ANYWAYS!! My father is so proud of me that I could do this HOT FRETBURNING LICK. Hehe, yup. 13 year old. GREATINGS FROM NORWAY!!!
need some help...I'm a pretty fast guitarist, but the thing is I can't play fast very long : ( ....I noticed i clench up and tighten my wrist when playing fast....would being relaxed help out my speed a lot? cuz it's kinda hard to do though....any tips appreciated = )
I try so hard yet I can get it to sound right. Does anyone have any tips for finger speed besides lots of practicing...Ive tried that. Plus some tips for better sustain because I cant hammer on the first string...
Unless you've practiced for years without getting anywhere you haven't "tried that". There are no secrets to speed, just a whole load of practice and hard work.
what I meant were certain exercises and other little tips that would make things easier. But since then I got a new guitar with the strings alot closer to the fretboard which made it quite alot easier for me.
i'll pm you an exercise tab that really helps out with your alternate picking and some makes you do some finger work. It's a blues exercise but it gets the job done if you can play it quickly.
I've had bad days too, lol......You may want to watch my Youtube video called "An Incredible Story!!! Plus 10 Million Views...." on my Youtube channel.....that story will tell you the type of impact my videos have had on others....

Try to mute the lower string with your index while you play solos. Also mute the strings above the one you play as you move so you don't get a lot of feedback.
dude honestly all i know is like 2. now im not saying that i am fuckin randy rhodes reincarnate, no far far from that lol, but honestly you dont need to know that many scales, it all depends on how you put them together. Shit Dimebag darrell only knew 3 scales lol all u need my friend is some practise and i guarantee ull kick mega ass
ok well this is kinda a stupid question but just bare with me ok well say im playing a e phrygian scale and it has seven different notes in it but the thing i dont get is the scale seqeuce thingy just say its 1,flat2,flat3,4,5,flat6,flat7 so i tried to look online but i couldnt find crap so yeah it would if you could answerit alot
As you know, there are 7 notes in a scale (or 8 which is the octive). And the "standard" scale would be like C because none of the seven notes (1, 2, 3, etc) are neither sharp nor flat. In a G scale, the 7th is sharpened (In this case an F), so when you look at "1,flat2,flat3,4,5,flat6,flat7" it is saying which notes are flattened. I hope I explained good, I also hope I'm correct... lol
Slash, listen to the guy. Theory isn't necessary, but even a basic understanding will greatly assist you. Not all scales have seven notes, that is just your atypical scale. The diminished scale, for example, has 8 notes.

Just pick a scale relative to the key you play in. I.E. you use the pentatonic scale on the relative minor (6th Note) of the major scale of the key you're in. Oh, that hammer on problem is just probably your technique. Just look up some videos on hammer ons.
the whole hammer on might be your guitar. i had a really crappy guitar that would never stay in tune and sounded terrible. it should be really easy to hear a hammer on/ pull of on a nice guitar. or just turn the gain/ distortion way up

Some pretty cool licks in there, first one is a classic sound so thumbs definitely up there. That 3-2-0 pull off lick was pretty cool too, good way to get fingers working before a song and it sounds awesome in or out of a song too.
hi bob another great video i was just wondering if there is a specific way to set your amp for the hammer ons and pulls offs sounds really come out to full sound, any suggestions?
Thanks man, ur vids helped alot. maybe people will learn easier if u add some tabs on the vids according to the solo...

Some pretty cool licks in there, first one is a classic sound so thumbs definitely up there. That 3-2-0 pull off lick was pretty cool too, good way to get fingers working before a song and it sounds awesome in or out of a song too.
