E got beat up kinda bad on this one, hard to show off with Luther and Otis dominating the flawless execution of what they mastered. Eric at that time if correct was coming out of a M.I.A. status for various reasons. I love him but good lord did my brothas beat him up this day.
This jam really came together. Nothing can beat a good blues jam. Also in addition to all the great talent on this stage, it's almost heartbreaking to see the wonderful Professor Eddie Lusk for a few moments on keyboard. That man was a giant and the most wonderful friend anyone could have. RIP Professor and RIP Luther. Sad that the two great talents who were roommates are both gone now. The world of blues is emptier for their loss.
The keyboardist, Professor Eddie Lusk, was a close friend, a monster of a talent that also left us far too soon. Thank you for this post so that I could share it with The Professor's son, Eddie Lusk III. We are forever reminded of the wonderful talent that touched us. Thank you for this legacy. ~ Suzanne
@katharine46 Glad to know there are still friends of the Professor out there remembering his greatness and his kindness. It was a cruel twist of fate that he left us far too soon. Love and Peace to you and his family.
@katharine46 Good to know that the Professor's legacy lives on in his son. We deserved to have him with us for many more years. God bless you and his family!
I had the privilege of seeing Luther about a year before he passed away. He played for 3 hours straight. Easily one of the best shows I ever saw. Was supposed to see him a 2nd time, but the show was cancelled and he passed away several weeks later. One of my all-time favorite bluesmen. RIP Luther.
I don't know the exact date, but it was sometime in the 2nd half of 1997. I believe (am not positive) that his last public performance was at the Barrymore Theatre in Madison, Wisconson on July 10, 1997.
@TheBlackycat When the news broke that Allison had been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in July of 1997, the blues world was shocked. When he died just four weeks later
