you idiots are the reason ron paul did so bad insult good people who took the time to talk to you ignorant because he doesn't kiss your asses fuck ron paul and fuck all you truther nuts
The few smart Bush people like Ridge (although sly and cunning) can easily dodge questions and make it sound like he said something, easy. I like how you admitted he dodged the question at the end. Most mainstream media reporters would NEVER admit on the air in an interview with Bush that they thought "you dodged the question." They'd just accept his phony answer and move on, like 'good' corporate media shills.
China has ID cards, and the gov't there is very tyrannical. You think the Patriot Act is anti-liberty? Go to Britain. Parliament and Tony Blair passed some of the most disgusting anti-liberty legislation, and it's been enforced by police and security forces in the most shameful ways. It's totally in violation of Britons' rights. Parliament did more to damage their freedom than the alleged terrorists on 7/7 (which happened at the same time, coincidentally, as a terrorism simulation).
Tom Ridge is a fraud. He totally dodged that question about constitutionality of real ID! I'm sure I can find at least one provision in the Bill of Rights that DENIES the federal or state gov'ts from issuing something like that. Besides, the gov't issuing a national ID card makes US slaves of the state, essentially. Who are they to issue US ID cards?? We should issue THEM an ID card with the Constitution on it (or perhaps inside a microchip embedded), so they know their powers.
Bush sure knows how to pick em doesn't he? Negroponte, the douchebag con artist of Iran-Contra lore, becomes DNI. Bush hires the head of Kellog to Commerce Sec. (yeah, great. a CEO running the business regulators). Elaine Chao is perhaps the WORST Labor Sec., and she's married to that douchebag Mitch McConnell. Then you got your John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzalez.
I wish you'd have asked him more questions, tho, like about his useless terror threat chart. Or his false terror alerts.
All informed citizens who followed Tom Ridge until he left office KNOW, from numerous reports and his own admission, that a lot of the "terror alerts" he made and set up press conferences for, were false and politically motivated. Remember that "terror alert" in the middle of 04?? That one was based on OLD intel that was no longer relevant. They cherry-picked useless intel and lied about a "new" threat. Tom Ridge, have you no shame??
I thought Ridge was gonna say there was "precedent" to this national ID card, but then he twists his answer around into something really weird. "states and the feds work together on a number of issues." DUh! Your point, Secretary?
I've always loved Ridge, and I still do. He's a good man who has his shit together. Nice try at trying to catch him off guard. LOL! Mr. Ridge is someone that you can't corner. He's much to bright and in tune with what's going on.
Oh...and I should HOPE he knows what he's talking about, IrrigatedPancake. That's his JOB.
Ridley, I dig you like a dog digs a bone. You're a little goofy, but aren't we all? You've done some great service for the candidacy of Ron Paul--so what the heck happened in NH? I was really expecting more and supported it financially, unfortunately not physically, but a lot of people did.
Ridge is from my home town, I don't like him, but at least he's not a slickster. Keep questioning these people, we already have passports, driver's licenses and SS cards. That's MORE than enough.
The 9/11 perps weren't travelling under false identities. Their ID was legit, and so were their credit cards. A national ID has nothing at all to do with fighting terrorism.
If that comes about, I will be yet another civilly disobedient citizen. I will NOT participate in that program. I don't care if I'm the only one. Never!
I will never vote for someone who supports it. I will never vote against the invasion of our civil liberties. I will always vote against someone who voted for the "patriot act."
As far as identity theft is concerned- Ridge's argument is RUBBISH. We already have a form of ID that established citizenship- the social security number! It is outrageous of him to suggest that anything more is necessary. When he does, he exposes himself as a puppet for the establishment. ANYONE who values liberty will be against REALID, biometrics, and chipping.
Right I don't understand how it prevents Identity Theft. Most identity theft is done over the internet right? A PC doesn't take fingerprints or a retinal scan before you can operate it.
I suppose the next step is to let them government take over the Internet to solve that problem. Getting scary.
Immigration is really quite simple- use economic dis-incentive! Fine businesses heavily if they hire illegal immigrants, do not allow them to get driver's licenses, and deport them. Don't allow them to take advantage of all the benefits of our system afforded to LEGAL citizens. Other countries use this method successfully- why aren't we?
A fence would really not be very effective at all, and would just be an expensive waste of resources.
To stop illegal immigration the USA has assigned FEMA to begin issuing a "chipped" FEDERAL ID. Because the USA can not stop illegal employment the USA will require all retail purchases be validated using the new FEDERAL ID. In this way the USA can effectively locate more illegal aliens. The USA will locate illegal aliens by tracking US Citizens. If you attempt ANY purchase without the FEDERAL ID the authorities will be notified and you WILL be seized, fined, and ID'd. Be[a]ware.
How is biometrics on my ID going to help anything? Is the grocery store going to start performing retinal scans everytime I want to write a check? All police will have to become federal employess and carry retinal scanners? Scary thought right? They are no longer state or city police all police forces operate off mandates from the Federal Government. I can hear the Star Wars theme as I write this .. "dum dum dum, dum da dum, dum da dum. dum dum dum, dum da dum, dum da dum"
I like the part where he says I dont think its authorized or not in the constitution... well umm... If I'm not going crazy... if its not authorized its explicitly denied as a power to the federal government....So to be legal it would have to be an opted system freely adopted by the states the states freely also to tell the federal government to shove it...
You are correct, and that is why in the end, you will have to be chipped. Re 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: Re 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

We don't like him here either. He's politics as usual, only slightly more honest than others.

You are completely right. They tried to create a national ID in the 1990's, but at that time it was about "solving illegal immigration."

I know a lot of people who say they will not accept a "Real ID" style national ID card.
Some of us have gotten rid of our DL and SScard because of the Real ID act.
russellkanning 4 years ago 2
I know of at least 1.2 million people who will never have to accept a Real-ID card or any other national ID card.
They're called "people who live in New Hampshire"
The reason they won't have to take the ID card is because of the Free State Project and a lot of hard work in the NH State legislature.
dmgoddard 4 years ago 2
I laud you New Hampshirites on your awareness and hard work.
That's really great, and keep it up. Perhaps it can spread to other states with some work on our part.
Amy31415 4 years ago 2
So how do you drive without a DL (I mean, well, I could...but) And how do you get a job without an SS card, or a passport?
I'm completely game to get rid of them if it's feasible.
Does it mean moving to NH? If so, that could happen in the future, but not for another 8 years :(

Yeah, the best way to deal with identity fraud is to have a single standard database of poorly administered information.
If Real ID is ever implemented it will be cracked within weeks.
