My name is Howard Gribble. I had a '67 Impala (in 1967) and a '66 Riviera (1969) and lived in North Torrance. The "Essentials" came along in the late '60s but they were mostly younger than me and I don't think I knew any of them personally.
Yes it was essentials Torrance my uncle still has the "Essentials Torrance" plaque. He was wondering what your name is? Yu can message me if you'd like.
Also proper placement for the Bellflower pipes are on the very edge of the rear quarter panel against the body level with the bottom of the panel on the outside of the body. . Not under the panel. Ruin the look there. But rest is like perfect.
YESSSSS bout time i find something that even comes close to old school. Was raised in NORWALK crused Whiittier, Bellflower, Tweety, And that ya know. Have no idea where whilmington is. But heard of it. Cheech and Chong talked about it some. Cal worthington Dodge? Is that right?
Glad you dig it. Always interested in the off beat parts of history that don't usually get recorded, like the vids you have made. How about one on the LB Pike? Not the lame ass mall that's there now but the OG amusment park they tore down in the 1980s. Anyway, keep up the good work!
@kideuce my uncle got his first tat at the Pike (x he tells me about the good ol times in the sixties with his 61 impala, which hes slowly restoring with me now. He was in a lowriding club i guess.... called Expeditions Torrance or something close to that. plus some of these pictures are in the lowrider book my uncle has...
Glad you enjoyed my little video, those were some cool times and I can appreciate them now all the more. Wish I had shot more film but, unfortunatly, this is all there is. You can't go wrong documenting the present. Might seem unimportant now but down the road you find out that no one bothered so there's very little or nothing of the history recorded.
I love seeing old footage...of any kind.. I want to start documenting things I do too....Im glad this was put out for us to see...my brother pointed me to this vid..Im always over in that area because im a casual longshoreman....I like to old pictures and vids/film of people lowriding back in the days when it was just starting out...
Thanks. Checked out your channel and enjoyed the history lessons. Especially the "hood visit". Good to know I can go take a tour from the saftey of my computer screen! lol.

Enjoyed the video! Old school lowridin.. Got a 64 Buick wildcat, doing it back in the day style 60's 70's lowriders. And just got my hot gun pipes today.
Heard about how wilmington was a big cruising spot. Never really believed it. Hard to see that looking at the preasnt condition. great video! Wish there was sound with the old 8mm cameras
The owner told me that a couple of black guys from Compton did the front in 1967 and later he bought the pieces for the back and installed them himself. Recently posted more pics of this car to Flickr where I'm known as KID DEUCE.
Oh alright. Sorry about all the trouble. Nice to see people still care about the good O'l days. Wish I coulda been alive back then.

Ok those are maybe 2inch pipes and not belflowers at all anyway. Hard to tell in pic. Belflowers had couture to them to.

Maybe your uncle's club was the "Essentials" from Torrance. I remember them from the late '60s.
