Jared I recently got this double pedal for Christmas but in the double chain version. Anyway i was wondering how you set your spring tension as i am having a few problems.
i got a pro double bass pedal and one of the pedals is more stiff than the other, and theres like a million screws etc. so how do i know how to adjust the stiffness or is the adjusting of the stiffness even possible? your double bass playing was beautiful! :D
this technique really works for me, was cynical to start with with but a few days later had a eureka moment and realised i need to go backwards alot to coordinate the leg movement into beats
Hi Jared, i am considering some of the more affordable direct drive options out there, and one that cought my eye was the Mapex Raptor. Have you ever played this pedal, and if you have, do you like it? How does it compare to the Gibralter Intruder? Epic shirt, by the way.
i love my pearl powershifter eliminator double bass pedal! its super adjustable so i can change it just to my liking and it offers more options for different genres. Its a solid pedal and im 100% satisfied with what i payed for
Been playing double bass for four years now. Been using the Axis Longboards for about a year. I want to switch to the original Iron Cobras. What do you prefer?
DW 9000 double pedal series are boss as well though, with the independent cam shaft and all ball-bearing driven hardware...but only if you're willing to dish out between $600-$700 lol
@AcidAmeba21 Money is not a factor for me buying pedals. I have had DW 9000's and I hated them! I have Iron Cobra speed cobras With cobra coils on one kit, Demon Drives on another and on my Double Bass Masterworks kit I have Iron Cobra belt driven pedals. The belt driven pedals are smoothe but they take a shitload more power to drive than the chain pedals do. You've got to have some serious power to drive them.
I suppose so...but in all seriousness it's all a matter of taste...as to compare Sabian...Paiste...Zildjian etc...whatever you're taste is and what sound you prefer
@AcidAmeba21 For sure and to a degree your style of drumming. I've seen some drummers with incredible foot speed, consistantcy and control playing and old, single pedal by choice. That spring under the pedal (cobra coil) is not a gimmick. It increses your speed and power. Pretty amazing. Try Them and see.
I have a 9002 PC DW pedal, and I’ve had problems with it ever since I got it. It’s basically the slave pedal. The base of the pedal keeps hitting this screw at the bottom, so I was told to use a spanner and mess around with it a bit...Also, when you play the double bass, is it alright for your left leg to sometimes lead also? Cz I’m a right hand drummer, and sometimes my left leg just ends up being the lead one.
Hello Jared, I was wondering what you thought of DW7000 pedals and can you tell me the best way have the tension on the springs? Secondly, why does it look like people have the beaters in different places? Either to high or to low? Can you help me?
@jarekfalk - About the pedal you're using; I've been interested in this exact Gibraltar pedal, and I'm a little curious: if you don't like the beaters that come with it, why not use different beaters? The Axis 'Sonic Hammer's might be a good fit. Also, I was watching some of Bob Gatzen's videos, and he actually recommends (for optimal resonance) that the pedals NOT be attached the bass drum. (He then demonstrated why, which was shortly followed by my jaw hitting the floor.) Where do you stand?
hi Jared Falk....my name is Dona ...m from Cambodia....... how can u warm the leg to beat double pedal smoothly? i can play double pedal but not so smooth...sometime it makes me complicated...... u can give me any ideas.......n then i will follow yours
hey jared! i have a video challenge for ya! how about a video on great quality for money LEFTY double bass pedals, its really bad because you can only get the cheap shitty pdp ones that i have or mega expensive things that cost like £300 minimum!
drum conpanies seem to forget about us leftys out there :(
@acdcjonnyboy You can convert the iron cobras to lefty... Im sure a few other brands can switch over as well... I think the lugwids I play might be convertible to actually now that i think about it.
im an aspring drummer and acouple friends of mine got me a First Act 5 pad digital drum set to start out with(which in 5 months) i plan on upgrading to the full blown electronic drum kit with throne, stands for the drums and symbols and the works. the current set up i have right now is a table top pad that consists of 5 rubberized pads(2 of which are considered symbols),a bass drum kick pedal that plugs into the pad setup, 2 basic drumsticks and a pair of headphones. should i move to another...
Hi Jared! good video! , i have a question, what doyou think about the demon drive double pedal? and who is better the axis or de demon drive? thanks !
i took my Tama Speed Cobra back to store due to slave beater wobble. the allen screw inside the black cap bearing housing comes loose causing wobble. you have to dismantle it and tighten the screw down to stop the wobble. i went back to using the Trick big foot pedal but it is pricey.
I used these pedals during a performance at my school- and halfway through my solo the whole pedal literally came off the bass drum. It was extremely irritating -.-
I own a Tama Lever Glide 905 Hi Hat stand. All features are wonderful as described except one. Not sure what you call the part, but sorry to see it came with a round plastic adjustment nut that sets the bolt that adjusts the angle of the bottom cymbal. Strips threads right away. It needs to be made of metal. I wonder if Tama sponsored Stewart Copeland's is plastic?
@jaredfalk i use double Sonor DP492 single chain bt are holding out pretty gud fr me almost 2 yrs now, nd i went in for them coz as u said they are 'affordable' nd i got 'em when i bought my kit,
@mayankkronosjones I currently have Mapex Falcons. They are made very well, though not well enough for metal and heavier playing. I've got a friend whose in a deathcore band that has mastered those things, and he let me play them which is why I pissed away $300+ on them ($150/ea at the time). But I've had them for... 9 months now and I still haven't found that spot that allows me to play at my fullest. Needless to say, I just bought Axis Longboards yesterday... I can't take it anymore.
@mayankkronosjones I use iron cobra power glide double pedals. I look for a nice smooth, gliding motion but to still have a lot of power in my hits so for the money, they were a brilliant buy!
>Most affordable
>$120 minimum
