My only question is why you didn't use the encoder strip that is already mounted on such printers!!! You could have messed around with allot more accuracy!!! :)

You're right, but that isn't as much fun as making it all yourself ;-). The stated goal of the project isn't for accuracy but for beginners to see how it works and how you can easily build it.
