This commercial was directed by Michael Cimino, the director of 1978 "The Deer Hunter" and 1980's box office bomb "Heaven's Gate". He directed commercials in the 60's and it is said that, although his visuals were impressive, he took too long to shoot them due to his obsession with detail, what led to Heaven's gate disaster.
Cimino clearly shows his painting background here: his shots are very well-composed, and his sense of color is awesome.

They discontunued this Promotion mostly because the men were taking their "Wives" along who seemingly had a different last name.

One of the best commercials I've ever seen. Even as far back as 1963, Cimino was visually brilliant.

The stereotype is dated, but the visuals are remarkably modern -- thanks mr. cimino
