Admitted to Silver Oaks Hospital three weeks before his death, he was discharged after 10 days, he had a massive heart attack and died in sleep. He was cremated at his native village, Bindrakh. Eminent Singers and artists including Gurdas Mann, Shamsher Sandhu, Babbu Mann, Jasbir Jassi, Sardool Sikander, Gurpreet Ghuggi and many more were among those who joined Bindrakhia's last rites in Surjit's native village 'Bindrakh'.
