  • Did you know his face was made of pizza and after every day of shooting he ate his face and shared it with the cast?

  • @Schizima What a terrible thing to say, but, I'm still laughing.

  • 2:54 That's a fat dog!!!

  • @ErikaAllyn he's cute isn't he.

  • the cruelty of people is unimaginable!

  • @High5Brah that story was already made: Mask with the actress Cher. talks about the story of Rocky Davis

  • I would die before i would get any surgery awake!!

  • @thequeenofqueen1998 i had my c-section surgery awake. did'nt feel a thing they gave me epidural.

  • I don't know if Freddie Jones and Anthony Hopkins have acted together in addition to their roles in this film. Great scene. Talk about two powerhouses of 2oth century acting!

  • Poor man :(

  • Anthony Hopkins best movie ever I think

  • antthing with anthony hpkins in it is a great movie!

  • u know i see all these comments relating to" you shouldnt be mean to others who look or have a life like josephs" and how you people say you should be kind to those who were born that way. but those same people who are sticking up for john are usually the same people who treat normal people like shit. they stick up for those who look like merrick, but they are mean to everyone else though. kinda two faced in a way. i say treat every single person that way, dont nit pick.

  • I don't know if it's just me, but I don't find the Elephant man that ugly. He has beautiful eyes.

  • Treves bless his soul

  • Those sounds... could be IMITATED!

  • @kucoru16 nice dune reference, by the same actor no less!

  • Thank you thank you for posting this! It's such a good movie. I love how he retains his humanity despite how he's treated...and even helps the doctor to improve his own compassion...he calls him "it" at first...

I'm glad they chose black and white for this film, it is so much more effective in its starkness and contrast.

  • can somebody tell me, did the elephant raped that woman??? that part i kind of too muchhh imagination.

  • @lagransuerte That's a little surreal imagery from David Lynch (his speciality). Merrick was not the offspring of any elephant rape.

  • @lagransuerte no. he had a disease that caused to grow tumores all over his body, i dont remember what is called, its really long

  • David lynch is a creedpy dude. He defenitely could make a horror movie.

  • I have a question 'bout youtube. Why can't people just upload a entire movie? is it not allowed or something? cuz all the videos I have seen are no more than 12 minutes or whatever.

  • @MrLockewilliams this was a couple years ago when youtubes server wouldn't allow long videos.

  • does anyone know what year this movie was made in?

  • @hereslexi1 1980

  • @hereslexi1 1980, but they made it look like the 30's because thats the time merrick lived (the actual elephant man)

  • @PumpItUpChick09 SORRY TO SAY IT OOK PLACE IN THE 1880'S.

  • Why were they spraying water during the surgery?

  • @Oceanpacifica1968 Not water....Carbolic Acid Solution. Basically, the purpose was to clean the infected air or what they called "miasma". By spraying this solution in the air and on the patients open wounds, infection was minimalized dramatically. No gloves or masks in those days...look up Joseph Lister on wiki :P

  • Doesn't that dude with the glasses look like Bill Hader?

  • It wouldn't make any difference if he had surgery because the hospitals backs then weren't advanced enough to fixate all of the problems on him.

John Merrick is a really tough dude because even though I don't have a deformity, I am still ashamed of myself in public. Rest In Peace J.

  • the elephant man is a symbol for anyone and everyone who we reject- gossip about, or ridicule. Who has not done this to someone? what we hate we are afraid of and what we really are afraid of is that we too have been the elephant man and the the people who hate the elephant man. So what e see is we hate ourselves when we hate anything....

  • Yes...human beings do not know better....even animals that cannot speak for themselves do not treat echother in this horrific manner.

hey know right from wrong...like every living thng in the universe.

    w, I am sad to say...nver have...and horribly...never will.

Who in God's name can help us?

  • Was Bytes Thufir Hawat in Dune?

  • Bytes is a fictional character.

  • he looks so lovable

  • Eu quero legendaaa!!!!

  • this is not just a movie it is based upon the real John Merreck the real elephant man and his mother i know did love him! but his uncle caged him and tried to kill him only the doctor was kind and gentle to John. his death is terrible.!

  • well no shit sherlock! point out the fucking obvious

  • does anyone know if this was filmed in leicester?

  • Everytime, I want to cry

  • Exquisite movie. Thanks a million for this remarkable upload sir.

  • The last part made me very afriad were they walk down the staries, with the scary music... And then I know that I am about to see The Elephant Man.

  • sorry for my english

  • Joseph Merrick was one of the greatest people on this earth ! He ve been tortured suffered people humiliate him but he never lose his dignity his amazing spirit and his lovely hart ! Mrs Merrick it was a great honore who spend iven 30 years of your life with us on this planet ! Your spirit is everywhere love is!

  • this is horrible no one deserves to be on display like an animal in a zoo.. even if there "different" or "ugly"

  • You got that right

  • Yes but they didn't have color films back then

  • this was made in the 70's or 80's through, so they did they just choose to do it in black and white

  • Oh sorry, I didn't know when this was made.

  • sorry too, i didnt mean to sound so high and mighty lol

  • I don't know why ppl are gettin all high blood over the truth. He WAS ugly, in socialtal terms, but he was beautiful on the inside. Which is more than I can say about most ppl society calls "beautiful."

Only those who are blind can experience the true meaning of love.

Society has conjured up this bullshit image of beauty when beauty should NOT be an image. It should be a personality.

So to me the Elephant man WAS one of the biggest BEAUTY'S the world has ever laid eyes upon.

  • I give you 5 stars for that comment you wrote... You said it right!

  • @wurdapartyzatXP

Indeed for he may look scary to people but he's still a human

  • "The elephant man is really ugly"

What a coincidence! So are you, bleached bitch! Now, be a good little "punk girl" and go listen to Avril Lavigne. Turn the volume up to the max, you rebel you!

  • @RemusRomulus360 hahahaha!!!

  • you didnt have to call him ugly he was a ugly just like you and me are so you shouldnt call anyone ugly

  • @RemusRomulus360 Who said that? Avril Lavigne? That's pretty heartless.. :(

  • i found a documentry on youtube about the making of the elephant man,its amazing check it out!

  • yes there is a book my teacher had it for 6th grade that was 3 year ago but i forgot i try 2 find out

  • Tyvm for uploading this movie!

  • Is it true that there's a book of this and if there is, who is it by?

BTW, I know it really happened.

  • It's a biographical book about Joseph Merrick, and it is written by Sir Frederick Treves, a physician who had befriended Merrick

  • good actor, why did he only make the one film?

  • you realise that his name is John Hurt and is one of the most famous British actors of all time.

Also, he's the guy who's stomach explodes in Alien.

  • jeez....

  • 17Valjeans, I love how you put "the guy who's stomach explodes in Alien", just to clarify XD

  • He was a regular person who has an extremely rare disease called Neurofibromitosis. Look it up.

  • They think that he could have suffered from a combernation of neurofibromitosis and proteus syndrome.

  • is da guy acting as the elephant man,the real dude dat have da real disease???

  • no real guyes died in london long ago

  • so sad T.T

  • even tho he was bullied it was nice to know that sum 1 was there in his life of pain

  • the sad thing is this acutally happened

  • @drdre306 Although, Merrick wasn't actually abused by the people who put him on display. In fact, he was paid to do it and considered the man running the freak show a friend.

  • @drdre306 how did it happend??

  • @doom3hell He was born with a deformity, when his mother was pregnant with him, like you might've seen in part 1, was pushed out in front of an elephant's path at a parade, she was narrowly missed by the elephant's powerful foot, but she thinks this happened to him from some sort of curse of that day with the elephants :(

  • @drdre306 Well, The Elephant Man, the film with AH, isn't EXACTLY true to life. Joseph's master in real life was actually quite kind to him, but, of course, that doesn't work for Hollywood. It's still a spectacular film!

  • @jaymeeharkeen Holy crap my comment is old lol but anyway that's what people say who knows how he was treated.

  • i can't believe what that man said, "i would like to see IT!

  • When I first saw this film, I just wept through the whole thing. I still cry when I see it. My favourite film!

  • same here!

  • where is he the ele man??

  • This is a really good movie. My grandmother saw it. She said that she sees everybody cry when they see this movie.

  • poor joseph merrick aka john. treeves treatead him so nicely!
