We did not design the tube to a specific length. We made the tube long enough to provide a good visual experience. We are not trying to get the standing waves to occur at predetermined frequency’s, which would be quite difficult anyway do to the number of variables in the system. The standing waves occur at least 4 different frequencies in our system. The clear acrylic tube is 47" long
The different color beads would be nice. Powering just one speaker does not make that much difference. The other speaker will then passively vibrate. Having one end of the tube closed does make difference though.
This is really cool. If the pellets were different colors from one end to the other, would they not mix enough to show that they're not actually moving, it's just a wave through them?
How would it look if only one of the speakers were on?

Did you calculate the distamnce between the speakers? What is the lenght of the tube, is it glass oi what? thks

have u tried playing an actual song through the tube and not just frequencies? I'm doing project and was just curious.
