  • i would like to make one of these. is there any way you could make a tutorial or give some instruction on how to make it

  • Why buy like a $1000 Bass when you can make one out of a friggen tin of soup!

  • I once saw an asian man at NY subway playing a one-stringed violin version of this. Darn, that was pretty epic.

  • sounds nice and quite authentic, but you are so off when it comes to pitch :p.

  • Ingenious

  • and I just spend 1600 on a swingmaster why?

  • How does he do it?

  • how long is the neck and how did you string it with the ibolts

  • Comment removed

  • Hi,

Ive just tried to make the same as yours today but I used only one string and It broke the neck. I don't understand. I used an electric guitar E string.

  • Thnak you!

I just built a little piezo (2,50 euro) that sounds better, dry and without terrible mid frequencies.

I used the same piezo for my johnson resophonic guitar. Outstanding sounds!

    Bye!

  • That's a cool homemade piece, my man!

    One love, one heart!

    White Wolf

  • What are you using for strings?

  • @Xstung0nceX looks like regular strings

  • That is so TOTALLY cool!

  • you can buy guitars in shops :P

  • What are you using for strings?

  • Brilliant idea, but requiring a 140 dollar pickup sort of shoots down the concept of turning trash into an instrument doesn't it?

  • @Buginout74 maybe he already had the pickup

  • @Buginout74 It's a piezo pickup, the clip on kind you can buy for less that $5.

  • putting us on...

    g

  • great

  • Right on man! Awesome!

  • Reminds me of the Fender/Guild Ashbory bass.

  • Awesome !!

  • Muito dezzzzzzzz..........

  • Could you do an instructional video?

  • premettendo che sei un genio

    come fai a accordarlo?

    lo voglio anch'io!!!

    :-)

    ciao!

  • you smokin too much weed dude.

  • :))Cool!!!

  • perché ricky spacca l'ano ai passerotti in volo!!! Viva il sentirmento!!!

  • what pickup did you use? I see it's an AKG something...

  • what kind of pickup did you use?

  • bonne idee ! bravo !

  • I'm thinking of building an acoustic with cardboard :D

    You got talent man

  • holy shit dude thats freakin awsome!!

  • BRAVO riccardo! excellent!!!!

  • Bravo, fantastique, génial etc..........

  • I've got to build myself one of those... Are those regular upright bass strings, or what?

  • They might be acoustic strings...

  • wow, uhh? I need to make one of these

  • 5 Stars!!!

  • nice! very creative!

  • I'm playing the Bass since 1997, and this is by far one of the most amazing things I EVER saw relating Basses! Man, I'm going to build one of these soon!

  • Surprisingly terrific sound!

  • I went and bought a box of paper just to recycle it, after i saw this video...

  • Well done!

  • Wow, this is f-ing great!

  • the sound was excellent man....just lovely...

  • For what it is - it sound incredible.

  • I made one of these yesterday but the action is too high. I need to either make another our fix it. I don't want to tear into though.

  • Love it. I was wondering what you used for tuning keys then at the :50....AHHH!!!

  • I'd play this one any day... I think it's got a wonderful sound!

People telling us about global warming.... we know about all this.

If you want to help the environment, log out of your computer and turn it off instead of sitting there preaching at us for ages. That would be a pretty good start.

  • The funniest part is that it doesn't even sound bad at all..

  • that's really good mate.

  • this is wonderful would you mind or if you haven't already made a how to vid or ismple instructions i'd love to make one..thanks a lot and again great great great job man

  • GREAT !!!!!!!!!!111

  • WHAT!?

  • A Steinberger bass for thousands less.

  • The pickup cost more than 130 dollars though.... so no real message here.

  • pickup costs 3 dollars...it is not electromagnetic pickup, it is piezo crystal element from radioshack

  • streethero9

eh. Im not so sure. " Pickup is a c411 made by AKG." in the info bar...

also says AKG on it in the video. Don't think akg makes plastic caseing less than 40 lol let allone parts.

  • oh sry i didnt see that

  • Comment removed

  • nice sound

  • Really cool, but come on. You just had to turn it into a hippie political statement.

  • You Americans are really weird...

  • I can't stand blanket statements about entire nationalities of people.

  • "hippie" political statement? why is wanting to clean up the world a fringe political idea? you sir or madame are a world class douchebag.

  • World class douche bag? Alright maybe I didn't explain well enough. I find nothing wrong with cleaning up the planet. Personally it bugs me when I see countless people walk by the same piece of trash 7 feet away from a garbage can. What I can't stand is these self-righteous environmentalist neo hippies that buy into the global warming bullshit and look down on everyone else.

  • i was wrong - you're just an average douchbag who cant see past his own stereotypes, who doesnt really follow science and its cummulative agreement that how we live on the planet is harmful and needs to change. No on here made any self rightous comments, or "looked down" on anyone - you were the loudmouth who had to chime in with the negative comment. peace and love

  • Haha. I love how you say peace and love after calling me a douche bag twice. Also, I'm not saying that anyone looked down on anyone in this particular video, but I've been scoffed at for my own personal opinions of disagreeing with global warming. How could the globe be warming when the northeastern states of the U.S. had their coldest winter in almost 10 years? Plus, new research has come to light to suggest that the warming of the ocean stimulates growth of species.

  • you need to forget the media created term "global warming" - the proper term should be "global climate change" - the poles are expieriencing warming on an unpresidented level - this melts freshwater ice which enters the ocean where it changes the salinity and disrupts the flow of the gulf stream. the gulf stream is a massive current that flows from antartic to arctic waters all through the Atlantic ocean. The warm water carried by the gulf stream is a massive contributor to weather patterns.

  • Right. So the Earth isn't warming but the climate is changing in both directions. Some hotter and some colder. This means that it couldn't have been carbon emissions that insulated the entire Earth. So what the hell IS causing it then? I don't believe mankind did anything to initiate it in the first place.

  • your logic is faulty.

  • Well would you care to elaborate?

  • AS I explianed earlier, the Earth IS warming - the overall mean temp of the Earth is rising, the effects of wich are first felt at the poles. I dont know why you think the mankind bears no responsibility. The way we live on the earth has had catastrophic effects on entire species and entire ecosystems - all of which are interconnected. one example of this is deforestation - the primary purpose of trees is to remove carbon dioxide from the air and replace it with oxygen. Less trees = more CO2.

  • Alright. The deforestation comment I can agree with, but I don't believe that the warming of the Earth would mainly be felt at the poles but rather the equator. I live in Arizona and it's just as hot as it ever was. In fact, this year it got hotter a lot later in the year. I think that if mankind did play a role in this climate change it's probably much less significant than everyone thinks. It was only decades ago that there was a new Ice Age scare.

  • Again you are basing your conclusions on where you live, and what you think, why do you think you are right and thousands of scientists across the WORLD are wrong? Ther is a lot of disinformation out there and most of it is funded by megamillion dollar corporations. They have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, they dont want clean renewable energy, they want to keep electric power centralized -so they can pipe it out to your home and collect monthly payments from everyone 4 Life!

  • It's not just me. There are many scientists on both sides of the argument. Plus, the corporations need to give us power because individuals can't produce it for themselves. Wind and solar power suck. We should be going to nuclear power. It's so much cleaner than burning coal to generate electricity but people think of Tchernoble (sp?) when they should be looking at France who gets like 80% of their power from nuclear power plants.

  • Wind and solar only suck in the context of central generation - also advancements in this technology have been bought up and sequestered away by companies like ford, ge, and others. Everyone could power thier own homes with clean green technology - (i.e. geothermal, wind, solar, hydro, )we dont need this archaic system of wooded poles and millions of miles of power lines. PLEASE OPEN YOUR MIND AND ACCEPT THE TRUTH!

  • P.S. I apologize for the douchebag comment, and i appreciate that you didnt take any cheap shots at me, Peace.

  • Thanks man. It's always cool to have an actual discussion about beliefs. You just don't see it enough nowadays. Especially on the internet. Haha. Peace man.

  • Wow ! Is that for real ? If so ,it sounds great. I'm blown away !?

  • that sounds amazing

  • I could have sworn it was the real deal! Sounds great!

  • bloody brilliant

  • that is awesome, it sounds so nice

  • Suono davvero bello.

Ci hai messo corde da chitarra?

    Mi spieghi quel microfono cos'è?

  • Great!

    More great innovation at RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • Yeah, lo propongo al mio bassista!!!

  • That is amazing! I think that it's spectacular, and I am very tempted to go out and make my own, let's save some trees!

  • Fantastic. You can get an ultra cheap piezo pickup, btw, by going down to The R. Shack and spending $2 on a piezo buzzer, then do a little surgery on it to remove all but the disk and wires.

  • Hi!

Show me something please! It's interesting!

  • Man, you're a genius

  • a man to marry with

  • you da man!

  • wiked

  • HAH!

    that is so sick!

did you just use regular bass strings with it aswell?

    props man.

  • pure genius! it isnt supposed to replace any other bass. your Can-Bass is rightfully a thing of its own. Simplicity, Beauty, and Pure Genius.

  • THATS FUCKIN SWEET. it blows all the other homemade basses out of the water. the sound is really impressive considering the simplicity.

  • No shit.

  • its true but nobody cares

  • Very Clever! lol!!!!

  • A how to would be wonderful, I love this little bass you have there! and the concept is even more brilliant, great work man.

  • Just Awesome,good message.

  • I think that is incredible!

PS: lovin' the first and fourth picture, It was me that took those photos... actually I built both the basses aswell (didn't recycle much though) ;-)

  • your site doesn't work can you make the plan available somewhere ?

    Thanks !

  • This is so "heavy" :P

REAL nice idea/concept, and I might even be able to make something like this myself.

Thank you for showing how much there is in so little.. :)

  • Nice!

  • That's really neat! I might have to do something like that!

  • Pazzesco!!!!

  • ohhhhh men ! :) good job !

  • This is so punk rock it made me piss puck.

  • grande freat!!!

Uno dice Gibson e si pensa subito all'opera d'arte.
