taekwondo is a sport, theres no very very dangerous moves, its good for basic fighting, as with boxing, and is good at lower levels, but at a higher skill level kung fu is used for not beating people up but for killing them, its very dangerous and complete, but its much more complex and difficult to master. Even ufc dont allow strikes to the eyes or balls and they never go for the heart, because its a sport, kung fu isnt sport, its a discipline which can be used for total combat without rules.

I've taken MMA, Karate and now I'm doing KF so I'm not completely ignorant.

Hei! I think it's actually wushu (or as my thai friends pronounce it: wuzoo). It's not kung-fu, just the mainland fancy stuff, it might work or it might not. Geez, y'all need to LIGHTEN UP. This looks like plain old tourist footage in China and half of these people whose asses your umpteen years of kill-training can slaughter are teenage girls. So once and for all YES martial arts is combat and self defense but for many of us it is also culture and theater and gymnastics and history BIG FUCKING DEAL if it wasn't for that ALL martial arts would be dead and forgotten so stop criticizing and let the rest of the world enjoy it.

well, wushu IS kung fu because kung fu is not one martial art but contains maybe alittle over 35. It's just they group chinesse MA into one catagorey. Also, it does work, well at least for a wushu world champion.

Hei! I think it's actually wushu (or as my thai friends pronounce it: wuzoo). It's not kung-fu, just the mainland fancy stuff, it might work or it might not. Nobody knows till they have to do it for real and then every body will find out, one way or another. Till then, everybody (including me) is just talking theory not reality.

well forms are more of a dace really, the are instuctional tool to learn the basics... Every thing is build of the form, after that is when you can actaully have fun learning from your class mates
