  • think the flutes a bit distracting

  • epic song, one of the most beautiful ever written (not only by steve hackett)

P.S.: the bassist has broken the 2nd string!!!

  • Nice video

  • A great composition and performance and you have to hand it to Dik Cadbury - if this was audio only you wouldn't know of the broken bass string - pro playing.

  • Steve even has a Floyd Rose on his Les Paul. Nice.

  • With the flute, the beginning of this song sounds so celtic.

  • I used to play in a band where our bassist played bass chords - he frequently snapped D strings... However, no plectrums were injured - unlike his fingers...

  • wow ive never seen that before the bassist is ussually the last guy too break a string

  • What a pro Dik Cadbury is. Losing his D string halfway through the song. Must have had to instantly remap his positions and fingering. Not that anyone would have noticed however 'cos he didn't pt a foot wrong.

    Marvellous!

  • great track. i remember seeing this in leamington spa. it was great. i remember meeting him outside

  • Great to hear this again. I always felt that the opening tune would made a great theme some type of TV prog "Nature Watch" or something :-) Now, someone is going to tell me it has already been used.

  • great,thank you!

  • sorry wich brand of guitars does he's using?

  • It's looks like Steve has gone back to his trusty black Gibson Les Paul on this tour. For the Once Above a Time tour four years ago, he was playing a golden Fernandes...

  • I wonder how this song sould ever have been played on anything but a tin whistle? It's amazing what it does to the song!

  • Sorry to correct - the missing string is the D and not the G. Surprising that such a pro doesn't carry a backup-bass along, looks like he was playing the entire evening with this missing string !

I can't wait to see Steve and his folks in November...keep it on, guys !

Thanks for posting, un abracio da Germania ;)

  • I was a backline tech for steve at that show. I can confirm it was the G string and it was changed during the acoustic part of the set. Dik normally has a spare bass but because of logistical reasons we had to go with a minimal backline (typical luck eh?)

  • watch the missing G-string on the bass guitar, somewhere halfway the song. Great song by the way.

  • Shot in my town. Great track, thank you Mr. Hackett!!!
