@thundercow1 why not?! war transcended both musical and racial barriers with their musical sound. I mean, I may not know a whole lot about Eric Burdon himself, but give war a chance! 8=)
I interviewed him about his time working with Sonny Boy Williamson and he is a master (and accurate) storyteller. Someone should produce a TV show around him. His voice is an amazing sound for story telling.
this is one of the reasons why i adore 60's. 60's musicians, they are still touring ( rolling stones, bob dylan, ect.) and their music are timeless, they made such a huge impact to the whole music history. I am wondering which bands from XXIst century will be still touring after 40 years and making amazing shows...hehe..now music is fleeting.. we have lots of things to choose but usually the quality and the content of it is very bad and superficial. ..so always keep our eyes on 60's!! :)
& his smile!!! (see UTube video "When I Was Young.") He still makes my heart go pitti pat! haha! I'd date him today if I had the chance. ;-) He was my heart throb of the sixties...but I was only 8-9 years old when he came on the scene..so I didn't get to go to concerts until Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath hit the concert scene.
How are you gonna have a great blues/rock/jazz artist like Eric Burdon on your show and ask him how his plants are doing!? Come on... we wanna hear some old memorys of him meeting Jimi Hendrix... or him and WAR back in the day. but im so glad Eric is still around, and im glad hes not hiding under a rock somewhere. Keep soul alive Eric!! :)
Eric was the inspiration for 'the eggman' in the Beatles "I Am The Walrus". He and Lennon were knock around mates and Eric apparently liked to crack raw eggs over the naked bodies of the birds he happened to be with.
THAT accent is called Geordie. Burdon is from Newcastle in England, where they have one of the most distinctive accents anywhere in the English speaking world.
He's lived in the US since the 60's so I think its great to hear he hasnt forgotton his roots.
wow now he's straight up g

And what the hell kind of accent is that?? I cannot figure it out... it's like British/Irish but not really... anyway who cares... Burdon is great

Other notable stars from Newcastle are Sting and Mar knopfler although Sting in particular has lost 90% of his accent.

Brian Ferry, Chris Rea, Paul Gascoigne, Bobby Charlton: all from that region ...
