Hillary Clinton has won the popular vote, she has won more contests than stupid idiot Obama. She has won the important swing states like New Hampshire, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia. So he won Iowa? Big deal. I don't understand why he didn't drop out of the race a long time ago. He doesn't have what it takes to be President and he has proven that time and time again. Hillary is the greatest!!!
Only if you count Michigan, and give zero votes to Obama. You think he would have gotten zero votes in Michigan if he was on the ballot? Your argument is so disingenuous and self-serving.
Advocating a position is good; reducing an arguement to ridiculous and obscene comments does not accomplish anything. If McCauliffe was on my side, I would be saying how great he was. Since McCain's adopted Bush's ideology after hopping on the presidencial race, he shouldn't be either.

We accuse the Clintons and others of using the race card, when in reality Obama's entire success is based on using race. My relatives and friends support Obama only because he is black. I am ashamed of the level of immaturity black continue to display. We Place our color over the welfare of this country. How else do you explain a no name freshman senator getting over 90% of AA vote. Most blacks do hate America, like Obama we whole hearty agree with Rev.Wright. I for one love this country.
antipyrene has hit the nail on the head. Any hillary supporter who switches to mccain is not voting for hillary the candidate, they are voting for a spokesmodel. Any idiot who changes to republican out of spite is full of crap. barack will not feel the sting of such a stupid move, he is a well respected politician. It's your dumb @ss that will!
Chris Matthews is so defensive! He says, "No one, no one, no one!" He's defensive AND out of touch. I read all the op-eds and news articles every single day, I listen to all three cable news channels, I read and hear what other Democratic politicians are saying, and if Chris thinks no one has told Hillary to get out of the race, or hasn't told her she should get out of the race for the good of the party, or if he doesn't think pretty much everyone has said it's over, he's lost his marbles.
Well, that's really the point there Rosebud, isn't it? If so many people are telling Hillary that it is over then it could just be that they are doing so because--wait for it--IT IS OVER.
It's like that old joke about if everyone around is losing their head while you remain calm it could just be that you have not correctly perceived the situation.
NorsemanMI, what the hell are you talking about? You're talking to the wrong person, since I'm not even disagreeing with you. Did you even listen to the video? Terry made the argument that no one told Teddy Kennedy and others to get out of the race when they were MUCH further behind in delegates all the way to the convention. Chris told Terry McCauliffe that NO ONE told Hillary to get out of the race. That is a flat out lie, delusional, ignorance, or denial. THAT is my point. Geez.
Terry McAuliffe correctly states that Carter in 1980 and Mondale in 1984 had their opponents stay in the race until very late. Of course, he fails to mention that they both were massacred in the general election. If he isn't the democratic Karl Rove sleaze machine, I don't know who is. Does that guy ever say anything that isn't bull sh#t?
Unfortunately, Hillary is not interested in what is best for the democratic party and the country, but only her own ego and personal accomplishment. I hope she does not continue her nasty, racially themed attacks past a point that the damage cannot be repaired. However, nothing she has done or said to date gives me any confidence she will end her slash and burn tactics and do so. It is very unfortunate for our country in a time that we need real change.
HRC will likely take it to the convention & lose. She can't wish the numbers away. She needs about a dozen more large states to be a real contender, but it's much too late now - they just aren't there. Her only remaining hope, the supers, are not supporting her in anywhere near large enough numbers.
This race really ended months ago, mathematically speaking - this is pure showbiz.
Soooo when the voters determine Obama is the nominee you think they will shut up finally? they cannot mathmatically win. The only way they can win is if they get 75% of the remaining delegates and then get 70% of the remaining superdelegates. Impossible, she can do her little song and dance until the contests are over then she needs to get out.
Obama could very well get to 2025 before they even consider doing that anyway with the help of the superdelegates. He only needs 11% of whats left to get there and thats without the delegates from Orego and Kentucky.
Is McAuliffe deaf or something? Matthews keeps saying that he wants the race to go on, and wants high voter turnout, then McAuliffe apparently rebuts that by saying it's not up to Matthews, and that the race will go on whether Matthews likes it or not...
Matthews is lying. They have all along told Clinton to bow out, over and over and over again. Just because Matthews says they haven't , doesn't mean it's the truth.
I don't understand Chris Matthews career or even his success. He has got to be the creepiest person. He is constantly unintentionally hilarious! I mean the CRAP that comes out of his mouth, yet his more distinguished colleages treat him seriously and act like he is OK. WTH?????????
McAuliffe is no more, no less than any other advocate. A well paid advocate at that. My husband and I are attorneys and we've heard dozens of times over the years 'how can advocate for that guilty or unseemly person when you know they're guilty' etc.
It is merely a role you play, an honorable one at that, our system is built upon it. When I speak for a client, it is THEIR voice you hear, not mine. I am a surrogate. McAuliffe is a surrogate, he says what remains in Hillary's mind.
Let's face it. Hillary is not dumb. Every minute in the spotlight can translate into cash, win or lose the nomination, she's already won. Book deals, fundraising money and lobbyist rewards will continue to come her way. Her influence weight will be measured in media exposure minutes.
I'm no fan of McAuliffe, but he right about Matthews and dozens of others who if they don't call for her to get out they have certainly left that as an impression. Matthews isn't being up front, he wants to have it both ways
further, McAuliffe is part of her campaign, why would you hire someone who isn't going to be on your side? This conversation actually makes Matthews look stupid, all these years and he doesn't know McAuliffe or guys like him are going to side with their candidate? This isn't even good theatrics, Matthews is pandering to the lcd of talking-heads or he thinks the viewers are stupid.
"As long as Clinton and her surrogates are not negative about Obama, then she can go on."
I'm still waiting to for that to officially manifest. I have my doubts that she'll really step off from being on the offensive. She may've played nice during the past week (though the "Obama gots no whites" thing is still up for debate, but believe me, she ain't gonna go down without swinging. Just wouldn't be like her to do so.
The voters did decide. Terry doesn't like the results, so he's trying to spin them. First the final delegate count is 2025, now they say it's 2208 b/c they're trying to seat delegates from FLA and MICH where Clinton signed a pledge not "campaign or participate" in these primaries.
This hacky spinmister would tell his dying grandmother she's not dying...rather, "gods just trying to visit you"...
'Hate to throw in bizarre conspiracy theories, but could it be that the clintonistas are holding on for Bilderberg, which is expected be coming up very soon in Greece?
But yeah, terry's nuts. It's not the impossible dream, it's not some romantic fight for a lost cause. It's a temper tantrum from spoiled, selfish white baby-boomers who are demanding the white house in a more-shameless and less-dignified way that Bob Dole's "I'm old and it's MY turn" presidential campaign.
haha! Terry is delusional, So wide eye'd, loud, and hoppin around like a 2 year old, if i didnt know any better id think he was on some of that "White House" cocaine ive heard about!
Voters are determining. Obama: #1 Popular vote, #1 delegate, #1 Super-delegate, #1 campaign management of finance. Money? Obama plus 50 mil. Hillary MINUS 25 million!
Can Hillary supporters read math? Is blind determinism a trait we want in a President?
Hillary please step down. Be a patriot. Last chance in a long career to do that.
I won't vote for obama because he blinks way too much on some questions and a person who blinks that much is a sign he's lying. He has that att' that his pretty smile and pretty words will get him through this.HE aslo has that gw smirk. This is gonna be another carter presidency. or McCain presidency.
Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, David Sheister, and most of the Obamicans at MSNBC are so biased. They have been trying to convince the whole USA that Bacrack Obummer is the sure nominee. Makes me sick.
Oh my god, you are so smart for your word play with Barack Obama's name. Let me guess, you went to public school. Why didn't your mom have an abortion?
erjomegjo, sure you're correct, but if the Democrats lost both of those elections, then maybe Democrats need to learn the person with the most delegates won't necessarily be the one who can win in November and pick the other guy. ;p lol
Obama cant even win indiana, pennsylvania, ohio, michigan, new jersey, west virginia...all those states are so key in November. the media crowns Obama but West Virginia votes for Hillary 3-1
Obamaphiliacs all want Hillary to quit or get out because they know they have a frail candidate with Obama. If they were so confident about him, they wouldnt be afraid of Hillary, or Michigan voters or Florida voters. 67% of West Virginia voters (total) say Obama is NOT fit to be Commander in chief
Roach... I am from Michigan and I do NOT want MI's primary to count when we were explicitly told before we went to the polls that it would not count. The fact that we were so informed means that the result of the polls do not reflect the will of the people since most of us did not bother to cast a ballot. Check the Dem voter turn-out in MI. Why would we waste a half-hour of our lives to cast a vote that won't count?
If Obama becomes the nominee, you can kiss the Presidency goodbye. Even 41% of West Virginia Democrat voters say Obama shares Pastor Wright's views, so what more if all Americans vote. Obama's done
More importantly, over 70% voted against him (65%+ for Clinton, 7% for Edwards). Pretty bad for the 'presumptive nominee.' Buyer's remorse has set in, bigtime! We need Hillary!
That whole area - from Michigan to NY to West Virginia to Ohio and Indiana... If the presumtive nomninee or media-crowned obama cant win those, its impossible for him to win in November. Even Kerry was able to make headway in those states.
The day we can gauge the opinion of this country on the outcome of a vote held in West Virginia is the day I either shoot myself or finally move to Canada or some other socially progressive country.
The fact that a bunch of hillbillies voted against a black man should not be news.
Logical fallacy, likes2p. Just because it was a disputed convention doesn't mean that's why Democrats lost. We also lost the Presidential campaign in 2000 and 2004, when we had scripted conventions and the candidate was known ahead of time. Is Obama afraid of a fight? Because if so he's not fit to be commander in chief!
What all Democrats should be afraid of is a divided party...if Hillary and her supporters can't accept reality and, after the last primary, admit that she lost, then they should come out and endorse McCain, because thats who we're gonna get
And if you can't see a qualitative difference between Obama and Gore/Kerry you've really got distorted vision...Gore and Kerry are both stiffs who were lousy campaigners with incoherent messages...Obama doesn't suffer from any of those faults as a candidate
antipyrene, there are already many, many Hillary voters who are saying they will never vote for Obama. And many are voting for McCain, that's how much they think Obama will be bad for America.
Rosebud, I suspect the anti-Obama feelings are more about resentment that he "stole it from Hillary" when it was "her turn" than it is about any serious concern for what is best for the nation.
NorsemanMI, as you said, you "suspect" that is the reason. I suspect you're wrong. I've heard some Hillary supporters say they resent that Obama ran up the ladder and stepped in front of Hillary, but I've yet to hear someone say that is reason enough not to vote for Obama. When I say there are people who feel Obama is not good for our nation, it means exactly that... no need to read psychobabble into it.
If the Hillary supporters are so eager to vote for McCain then I question why they voted for Hillary in the first place...theres not a big difference between Hillary and Obama policy wise...Theres a HUGE difference between McCain and both Democrats; if, for example, you want us out of Iraq, or want to protect the right to choose, then you would stupid to vote for McCain
antipyrene, many people vote for a president on much more than just issues and policy, I can imagine you must know this. If that was all it was about, then Democrats could have equally voted for Dodd, Biden, Richardson, and Edwards... since they all were pretty much running on the same issues.
Well when the candidates share the same position on issues, people vote on character...the majority of Democrats prefer Obama's character to Hillary's
But if you vote on perception of character over issues, then you're a fool...an election is NOT a popularity contest, we're not voting for action hero, we're voting for what direction we want this country to go in
A vote for McCain means US troops in Iraq indefinitely, Roe vs Wade overturned, and more power to megacorporations
antipyrene, why are you talking to me as if I don't know what the issues of each candidate and party are? I know what a vote for McCain means. I'm not convinced Obama would do a better job with the Iraq situation than McCain, even if he what he says sounds good to me. I'm old enough to know the problems in this country aren't as simple as the words in a stump speech. And if it was up to Obama, according to his past voting record in Illinois, he'd allow women to have late term abortions.
Then why do you support Hillary? Obama's and Hillary's positions on the war are nearly identical
And McCain would mean the end of the Right to Privacy ...its black and white, one more Supreme Court justice appointment by republicans and its gone
If you have no problem with the country going that direction, then how are you a Democrat?...sounds like you're just another Republican shill trying to sabotage the Democrats
I have a strong inkling that if Clinton wins, it will be much like Bush winning on the Fundie vote. She'll win on the Feminist vote.
Seriously, 90% of the Clinton Voters that I've talked to think that everyone that is not voting Clinton is sexist. Maybe I should start responding with "Oh, so you're racist".
You're wrong - women are breaking strongly for Hillary but many vote for Obama. However, African Americans are voting over 90% for Obama -- so essentially the ones voting for him because he's black are the ones playing 'race' politics. Also, remember that blacks are a larger proportion of the Democratic vote than they are in the total population, meaning the full support of the AA community would be good but wouldn't get you anywhere near victory.
West Virginia is a huge turnaround and is practically indicative of American opinion as a whole. Huzzah!
The popular vote and pledged delegates thing? Who cares about that? That's not the "will of the people" I'm talking about. I'm talking about the will of the people who voted for Hillary.
What do you mean she can't possibly win mathematically, short of something like a huge Obama scandal? Screw math and logic, that's for elitists.
Oversensitive much? Just because she's a woman and certain Dems don't want her to be the nominee doesn't mean that said Dems are sexist. Can I call you a racist for preferring her over Obama?
"Can I call you a racist for preferring her over Obama?" - uh..for months now all Obamaphiliacs have been calling anyone who doesnt support Obama as a "racist"
I can't see any other reason why the media has pounded her relentlessly and Obama has seemed like the Golden Child. I like Obama actually, I just don't think he is the right candidate. I have a bi-racial child, so yeah I'm soooo racist. lol Also stupid is a word that is very ugly, shows your true personality. I may be many things, but supporting my candidate does not make me stupid and that is just about as ignorant of a statement that you could make.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This remind me of the 2000 election. The media gave Bush a free ride and I am afraid this is going to be like that. How can you ignore an experience person like HIllary as compare to Obama who is a muslim,anti-american an inexperience.I hope Obama won't turn the White House into a Harlem Ghetto?
Experience? What experience? Gonna let Hillary ride on the coat tails of her husband? Also, Obama's a member of the trinity of christ church in chicago...remember the rev. Wright saga? Wow. America really needs to wake up. Obama would be the most sophisticated, egalitarian, worldly, intelligent leader you've had in a long time.
Chris Matthews needs to watch a bit more TV. If this guy honestly thinks the media is NOT in the tank for Obama, then he's a bigger moron than I thought he was (which is saying something). His argument that pundits like seeing this stuff go on is bullshit. But I wouldn't pay much attention to someone who says that Obama gives him a "thrill up his leg." Coming from a man, that's fucking scary.
Clinton just needs to go. She is a weird woman. She can't take that she has already lost now she is acting like a stalker. She is stalking Obama, he should get a restraining order. She got that wierd look in her eye of a scorned woman, so don't let her near the kitchen or any knives.
Dignity? What is that? She will go out looking like a complete dope and a loser. I wouldn't be surprised if she started crying Why me? Why Me, Bill and they have to carry her out as she clings to the podium.sick
How impressive you are to think that Bush supporters are morons! And uneducated to boot! But to think that whoever supports Hillary is now on a par with Bushies!
Whereas whosoever supports Obama, ie, MSNBC, is a bunch of geniuses!
You actually call this democracy? This is simply a power grab. If you believe this bullshit line that she spews about "every vote should count" then you've really drunk the cool-aid. Do you honestly think she'd be saying the same thing if the delegate count was in her favor?
For some reason, the whole thing reminded me of trying to get Jehovah's Witness to go away. Maybe it was the way McAuliffe kept getting more and more hysterical the more Matthews seemed to patronize him.
dj99surf, McCauliffe is a cheerleader, the guy who keeps moral and enthusiasm up, he's not a candidate running for office... he doesn't need to calm down, lol. I'd love to have him on my side, always upbeat with a big smile on his face, staying positive no matter what. I think Chris is the one who needed to calm the f*** down. Chris thinks the world's views revolve around him, he rarely let's people get a word in edgewise, you need someone like Terry to talk over Chris's arrogance.
Chris Matthews: I decided the election of 2008 and now we're all screwed.

R0SEBUD789 3 years ago
Well, that's really the point there Rosebud, isn't it? If so many people are telling Hillary that it is over then it could just be that they are doing so because--wait for it--IT IS OVER.
It's like that old joke about if everyone around is losing their head while you remain calm it could just be that you have not correctly perceived the situation.

NorsemanMI, what the hell are you talking about? You're talking to the wrong person, since I'm not even disagreeing with you. Did you even listen to the video? Chris told Terry McCauliffe that NO ONE told Hillary to get out of the race. That is a flat out lie, delusional, ignorance, or denial. THAT is my point. Geez.

Terry McAuliffe correctly states that Carter in 1980 and Mondale in 1984 had their opponents stay in the race until very late. Of course, he fails to mention that they both were massacred in the general election. If he isn't the democratic Karl Rove sleaze machine, I don't know who is. Does that guy ever say anything that isn't bull sh#t?
ebvl27 3 years ago
Unfortunately, Hillary is not interested in what is best for the democratic party and the country, but only her own ego and personal accomplishment. I hope she does not continue her nasty, racially themed attacks past a point that the damage cannot be repaired. However, nothing she has done or said to date gives me any confidence she will end her slash and burn tactics and do so. It is very unfortunate for our country in a time that we need real change.

SwissCross 3 years ago
HRC will likely take it to the convention & lose. She can't wish the numbers away. She needs about a dozen more large states to be a real contender, but it's much too late now - they just aren't there. Her only remaining hope, the supers, are not supporting her in anywhere near large enough numbers.
This race really ended months ago, mathematically speaking - this is pure showbiz.
jamesmorgandavies 3 years ago
Soooo when the voters determine Obama is the nominee you think they will shut up finally? they cannot mathmatically win. The only way they can win is if they get 75% of the remaining delegates and then get 70% of the remaining superdelegates. Impossible, she can do her little song and dance until the contests are over then she needs to get out.
Thespartan18 3 years ago
Thespartan18" Hmmm she needs 91% of delegates
Thats if the Dnc don't move the goal post

DereckLamar 3 years ago
Obama could very well get to 2025 before they even consider doing that anyway with the help of the superdelegates. He only needs 11% of whats left to get there and thats without the delegates from Orego and Kentucky.

McAuliffe is a surrogate, he says what remains in Hillary's mind.
shaire99 3 years ago 2
Let's face it. Hillary is not dumb. Every minute in the spotlight can translate into cash, win or lose the nomination, she's already won. Book deals, fundraising money and lobbyist rewards will continue to come her way. Her influence weight will be measured in media exposure minutes.

RoachAsylum 3 years ago

DukatSG1 3 years ago
That whole area - from Michigan to NY to West Virginia to Ohio and Indiana... If the presumtive nomninee or media-crowned obama cant win those, its impossible for him to win in November. Even Kerry was able to make headway in those states.
RoachAsylum 3 years ago
The day we can gauge the opinion of this country on the outcome of a vote held in West Virginia is the day I either shoot myself or finally move to Canada or some other socially progressive country.
The fact that a bunch of hillbillies voted against a black man should not be news.
CynicalSavior 3 years ago
Logical fallacy, likes2p. Just because it was a disputed convention doesn't mean that's why Democrats lost. We also lost the Presidential campaign in 2000 and 2004, when we had scripted conventions and the candidate was known ahead of time. Is Obama afraid of a fight? Because if so he's not fit to be commander in chief!
DukatSG1 3 years ago
What all Democrats should be afraid of is a divided party...if Hillary and her supporters can't accept reality and, after the last primary, admit that she lost, then they should come out and endorse McCain, because thats who we're gonna get
And if you can't see a qualitative difference between Obama and Gore/Kerry you've really got distorted vision...Gore and Kerry are both stiffs who were lousy campaigners with incoherent messages...Obama doesn't suffer from any of those faults as a candidate
antipyrene 3 years ago
antipyrene, there are already many, many Hillary voters who are saying they will never vote for Obama. And many are voting for McCain, that's how much they think Obama will be bad for America.
R0SEBUD789 3 years ago
Rosebud, I suspect the anti-Obama feelings are more about resentment that he "stole it from Hillary" when it was "her turn" than it is about any serious concern for what is best for the nation.
NorsemanMI 3 years ago
NorsemanMI, as you said, you "suspect" that is the reason. I suspect you're wrong. I've heard some Hillary supporters say they resent that Obama ran up the ladder and stepped in front of Hillary, but I've yet to hear someone say that is reason enough not to vote for Obama. When I say there are people who feel Obama is not good for our nation, it means exactly that... no need to read psychobabble into it.
R0SEBUD789 3 years ago
If the Hillary supporters are so eager to vote for McCain then I question why they voted for Hillary in the first place...theres not a big difference between Hillary and Obama policy wise...Theres a HUGE difference between McCain and both Democrats; if, for example, you want us out of Iraq, or want to protect the right to choose, then you would stupid to vote for McCain
antipyrene 3 years ago
antipyrene, many people vote for a president on much more than just issues and policy, I can imagine you must know this. If that was all it was about, then Democrats could have equally voted for Dodd, Biden, Richardson, and Edwards... since they all were pretty much running on the same issues.
R0SEBUD789 3 years ago
Well when the candidates share the same position on issues, people vote on character...the majority of Democrats prefer Obama's character to Hillary's
But if you vote on perception of character over issues, then you're a fool...an election is NOT a popularity contest, we're not voting for action hero, we're voting for what direction we want this country to go in
A vote for McCain means US troops in Iraq indefinitely, Roe vs Wade overturned, and more power to megacorporations
antipyrene 3 years ago
antipyrene, why are you talking to me as if I don't know what the issues of each candidate and party are? I know what a vote for McCain means. I'm not convinced Obama would do a better job with the Iraq situation than McCain, even if he what he says sounds good to me. I'm old enough to know the problems in this country aren't as simple as the words in a stump speech. And if it was up to Obama, according to his past voting record in Illinois, he'd allow women to have late term abortions.
R0SEBUD789 3 years ago
Then why do you support Hillary? Obama's and Hillary's positions on the war are nearly identical
And McCain would mean the end of the Right to Privacy ...its black and white, one more Supreme Court justice appointment by republicans and its gone
If you have no problem with the country going that direction, then how are you a Democrat?...sounds like you're just another Republican shill trying to sabotage the Democrats

You're racist, I take it.
brianatleftyfilms 3 years ago 2
You're wrong - women are breaking strongly for Hillary but many vote for Obama. However, African Americans are voting over 90% for Obama -- so essentially the ones voting for him because he's black are the ones playing 'race' politics. Also, remember that blacks are a larger proportion of the Democratic vote than they are in the total population, meaning the full support of the AA community would be good but wouldn't get you anywhere near victory.
DukatSG1 3 years ago
West Virginia is a huge turnaround and is practically indicative of American opinion as a whole. Huzzah!
