  • pls make more of these trips. very entertaining and funny

  • @KBCarnage Send me $1500 so I can go do another....

  • @viperkeeper How much should we have to raise to have a South Africa or Australia trip report. I am sure it will be more interesting than NG.

  • @xyzDucati $2500-$3000

  • nice video

  • i believe the little snake is scared, it seems to be young

  • @1Heretic Of course he/she is, just my point. They won't attack people!

  • most herpers on here do more bullshitting then herping, i love you're videos, i live in florida and i see cottonmouths, cornsnakes, black racers, ringnecks, yellow ratsnakes, and banded watersnakes on a daily basis in my backyard. keep making videos viperkeeper you're awesome

  • Great job with the vid and hats off to you saving snakes from being squashed on the road. I live in AZ and do the same. I goto FL to visit my mom every year. I'm not when my next visit will be, but if you'd like a herping partner, I could use the company. Plus, we can use my rental. I know of some spots in your area but I doubt that I know Fl as well as you. Cheers.

  • thats pretty close to my house new herp spot yeah

  • Hahaha love the bit about the cottonmouth! It's always hilarious to me how many hicks claim that they "got chased by a cottonmouth" and say they are viscious and will hunt you down! Hahaha, anyone with 10 seconds of field experience with these guys will see, their first response is to be TOTALLY still, and if that doesn't work, they take off! (In the opposite direction!)

  • where in florida were was this?

  • @wildrupp15 I don't disclose my locations

  • Probably ran over 10 of them before he spotted any.

  • this was crap most off the things u got were half dead how do i get 17 mins and 4 sconds of my life back

  • I particularly like your commentary in this video because this is something that I have been fretting over for the past few weeks. While in Tucson, I also saw a rattlesnake that was dead on the road. Thinking it was alive, I stopped to get a better look and to potentially to move it off the road. Meanwhile, a taxi came barging down the road behind me and nearly hit the car, despite "animal crossing" signs that had been posted - it bothered me.

  • fair enough

  • @ganonthecannon Yes...I would really have to know you well before I coughed up that info...

  • Awesome vid Viperkeeper! along with all your others!! we have a small population of Pygmy's and Timbers here in N.Y. along with copperheads, I dont mess with them though! ;)

  • @AvidHerp83 No pig in NYS

  • @viperkeeper Sorry, you are right, Eastern Massasauga is what I was referring to, for some reason that is what they are referred to around here.

  • I got sad about the snake who did'nt act well. I hope they did'nt hit it on purpose. maybe it was laying in the sun and was sleepy? idk I hope it survived :(

  • I hate fire ants!! they are evil!!! lol OUCH i've been stung alot growing up, and yea stay away from mounds! hahaha

  • im down in south florida and i rarely see the mygmys or cottonmouths :(. its really only blackracers and an occasional corn snake or two

  • I think you ran over one at about 2:50 on the left side... ;)

  • I about died laughing with the comment about Joe's sandals. good video man, next time you are down here I will show you where to find the brightest canebrakes you could imagine. I will hook you up. there are tons of awesome roads in central FL

  • hey do u live ingeorgia??

  • @animalboy64 NO

  • @viperkeeper wow.. i guess you REALLY dont live in ga.. lol

  • ok i got a question for you viper keeper!

i noticed when the cotton mouth opened

it's mouth, at the bottum of the mouth was a small circluar opening, that looked like a tube what is it?is it for breathing or something?

  • That's it's Glottis, the opening to it's Trachea, which it breaths through.

  • Al, have you ever had any dealings with the Cottonmouth's south-of-the-border cousin the Cantil? I hear they have an absolutely nightmarish venom.

  • Yes, I've kept both species of A. biliniatus & A. taylori

  • i did a childish but funny thing when i was a teenager. i found a dead rat snake in my driveway and i put it in my town's local movie gallery return dropbox around midnight. i know its morbid but hey like i said. i was young. btw i treated a patient that was tagged in the hand by cottonmouth.he was ''frog giggin''. it was my third day after i began working as a paramedic. just sharing that bc the snake got revenge on the redneck for running over his buddy

  • cool vid i wonder what was wrong with that pigmy rattler. you should do some more herping vids.

  • It was probally run over

  • And humid!

  • LMAO!! That CottonMouth was vicious!!! I think he just thought you were a dentist??? lol You are hilarious! Take care!

  • I grew up in FL, too bad you didn't run across any Eastern Diamondbacks or Eastern Coral Snakes. When I was young my father shot a 5'9" Eastern Diamondback near our swimming pond. He was as thick as your fist. He skinned it and soaked the skin in brine for a few days, then stretched it, tacked it to a board, and dried it in the sun and then finally painted a coat of varnish over top to protect it. He sold it to a collector for $500. He told me later he didn't want to kill it, but felt he had to

  • to protect me and my friends. (We were swimming at the time, and he didn't feel like he could have handled a snake that large by himself)

  • haha aaaah, that was awesome

  • Awesome!! I live in Jacksonville, the zoo there is fantastic, I volunteer there

  • cool stuff, thanks for the video bud!

  • Remember! The rental car is the ultimate off road vehicle!! Great Video.

  • You say "Uhh" alot..lmao

  • I get told that a lot too

  • Great Video Al !

Nice to see some field herping for a change.

Good you did not try a BGF routine with that rental car, LOL.

  • Great video!

  • Cool VK, I live across the bay in St. Pete - hope you enjoyed the visit!

  • what part of florida you live in! wow im in tampa

  • I was just there for two days

  • any guys want to stick his johnson in a place no man would ever dare go?

  • black racers will not let go if they bite you keep that in mind

  • bad idea to drive a honda civic in the dirt al :P

    get a jeep for herping

  • I wasn't there for herping...that was a bonus.

  • you are right man: we need to respect Nature and her species and just connect with Her the way you do in this clip

  • Northern Florida is magical! I always miss it!

  • man! why you need to destroy the ant's home? Would you like it if someone came and start messing with your roof? And I am not kidding!

  • They're just like the Japanese in the "godzilla" movies, they love disaster response. I was providing them with enrichment.

  • how often do your snakes puke how old is your oldest snake?

  • Not often and I don't know...

  • Wonderful video Al! Can't wait for more!

  • All I saw when I was in FL, was a ran over corn snake, tons of small lizards, and I saw 1 little sea turlte, that probably just hatched and was going towards the ocean ;D

  • nice one Al, snakes are scared of you..they run away...

"OMG it's Viper Keeper, RUN! my mother told me bout him :S" xD I'm jokin'

that first snake was half dead :(

  • wow the was a great shot of the cottonmouth!

  • Fireants have really done a number to native Texas wildlife. They almost killed my wifes dog from bites had to take the poor thing to the vet ER.

  • hows that fresh air!? im always seeing you cooped up inside your reptile room! you shouldn't go out by yourself

  • People who run over reptiles really piss me off. Whenever I run accross one on the road I always try to move them off the roadway. These idiots must love rodents.

  • Al: great video, as always. That Cottonmouth was a beauty: I'm only sad you didn't see any wild Burms.

(Burm-lover rant here: while I'm dead-set against releasing ANY exotic animal into the wild, I doubt that Burmese Pythons will damage the Florida ecosystem nearly as much as feral cats. But though I keep hearing how awful wild Burms are, nobody is screaming about banning felines)

  • dude ur awsome

  • nice find at the end there, good example of how cottons will actually chase a person down with the intent to kill. sucks about that dusky pig though. shame on the human race

  • excellent herping adventure!

  • how would you have dealt with being poisoned there, it doesn't seem like you can get any immediate medical treatment at all there except maybe by airlift

  • Called a cell phone and car keys.

  • you were that close that you could've driven yourself to a hospital if that cottonmouth got you bad?

  • What I said : I would be able to get medical help I had a gps and could tell them exactly where I was. I think I would have been able to get to the main road if not the Hospital myself.

  • hey do u like ever go out and capture ur own snakes to breed cause if u do u should make a vid on one i would like to see it

  • "Hey bud, how ya doin'?"

    *Flys Away*

"..Oh...Well, that was rude..." LOL! Al, you're a riot! Wish I had more time to herpe here in FL.

  • i hate fire ants i live farther down by ft. lauderdale and there everywher

  • you are crazy lol

  • you drive a honda! even better lol.

  • LOL you are so funny. I love your videos.

  • I would much rather be a redneck then a yank.

  • Nice video Al.

  • Well Al, I'm sorry that didn't get a warm reception (The rude Bird -lol) down here in the South.I love the conversation with the CottenMouth, "Oh no......It's Viperkeeper....I've heard about him.....He's nasty" ( It doesn't get much funnier than that, love it) Sadly, your right about the attitude most southern down around our area have concerning wildlife. The will run over snakes or even people, and never hit the breaks! You should do more of the video's, you could be the steve Irwin! YEA!

  • Sorry about all the words I left out of my last comment.I was trying to type and listen to the news about an accident in our area, now your really going to think us southern folks are all REDNECKS! -lol I Left out "You" in ...Sorry that "You" didn't get a warm reception" - and I left off "ers" of off "Southerners" ..."most southerners down around our area" So again, sorry for all the grammar and spelling errors, I try not to do that often,I guess I can't do two things at once! Cheers! ~ Lee

  • i see a cotton mouth almost everyday as i am walking home from my bus stop. i just recently cought a black racer and a kingsnake. i see aaaalot of venomous snakes around.

  • "Hey bud, how ya doin'?"

    *Flys away*

    "..Oh..Well, that was rude."

Ha! Al, You're a RIOT! Keep it up bud :)

  • I agree this isn't typical of cotton mouths BUT I was out in the swamp when I was 13 or 14 with my Dad and one did come after us and actually tried to climb into the boat! ...... I had to change my underwear after that LOL!

  • that cottonmouth was gorgeous. i would love too go too florida for some field herping.

  • its really an amazing experience

  • That "vicious cottonmouth" sure did a nice impression of a racer in getting out of there.

  • Nice video Al! I would love to see more videos with herping :)

  • Nice herping!

Here in Mexico most people consider every snake dangerous, and they even chase them to kill them :( It's hard to find them around! Even though there's supposedly many of them!

  • Mice footage?? WTF!! LOL

  • I don't get to cool places much anymore.

  • Nice video, reminds me when I used to go herping when I was a kid catching frogs, salamanders, and of course snakes, I wish I could do it again *****

  • o rly enjoyed this VK :)..thnx.. i feel -sad for the -snake on the road :>

  • I have a challenge for you Al,

Go to anywhere in Ontario and find a Wild Massassauga RattleSnake!

  • lol you should get a honda commercial Al

  • In love cotton mouths! I remember when my family lived in Texas (I was around 7 or 8 years old), we were swimming in this super dirty, mucky lake. At some point I surfaced, and when I opened my eyes, there was a cotton mouth, not 10 inches from my face, floating on the surface of the water. As you can imagine, we both had a pretty good scare, and the sight of both of us splashing about to get away from eachother must have been quite a sight!

  • Glad to hear the Civic treated you well! I work for the company that made the door frame and exhaust system, and have seen the cars come finished off the line, one every 45 seconds a few times. I had a close call with a copperhead as a child (nearly stepped on one in the woods), so I have nothing but respect for venomous reptiles. I do enjoy watching your videos, keep it up! 5/5

  • great vid al

  • Woohoo, go viperkeeper. xD So funny. I can see their redneck faces lol.

Nice cottonmouth footage. If you go field herping more I'd like to see some more if you're up to it. Cheers

  • Nice video mate, got a part 2?

  • No, sadly only one part.

  • a little bit of advice for your next florida field herping adventure ,a really handy trick that alot of floridians have caught on to when it comes to catching snakes is FOLLOW the Egrets ,they are slow but sensitive and if snakes see them theyre dashout to try and get away and theyre so frightened they make it so noticeable while there trying to escape get them before the bird does }:)

  • ahhh man i wish i knew you were theyre Dx i live in sarasota which is right next to tampa ,i wouldve loved to her with "THE" viperkeeper :C

  • haha I love the comments you made with the cottonmouth and how it goes after people. Living in florida my whole life I have heard that tall tale that venomous snakes attack for no reason which is just pure BS

  • When I was in Florida without my hooks, bags, and any other equipment, I saw snakes on the road at about one-per-mile... Since then I keep all my field gear in my car ready to go.............. Haven't had the same florida-style results since. go figure, Ha!

  • Very nice Al !! Love to see some herping from the other side of the pond !

  • i don't know why but i always have to watch a viperkeeper vid when im on you tube its like a ritual gd vid as usual

  • haha, looks like you had some fun, i always enjoy going out looking for snakes in canada as well, i always find alot of garter snakes or the tiny little red bellies we have around here, but what id really like to find is a green grass snake or even a small massasauga rattlesnake, but it think iam too far north to find one, but even other things i find is always neat too, keep havin fun.

  • Gorgeous looking cottonmouth too...
