@Crzynoob as you do a normal addition, when you have a number than results greater than 10, you now deal the 1 in a higher digit and add it with that part of the equation

He is dhaval bathia.This is from his video CD on vedic math.That video CD kit has a total of three CD's and book's on vedic math and sudoku's from him.It has all the basic(almost) and some advanced things.The original vedic math book is a little tough to learn though

I had an Uncle who taught me this in the mid seventies (I know I am getting old)

When I used this at school people could not believe how fast I was at certain calculations. However I forgot this technique and my Uncle died a few years later after he taught me this.

@simbu246 It is too many numbers for working memory, but it doesn't take long with pen and paper (~15s if you are good at numbers). It works for 4 digit numbers too if you continue the pattern.
