That a society could even debate the right of health care for every citizen regardless of age, status, income, race, employment etc. to be financed by the government is perhaps the finest example of a nation without a conscience, a moral compass. To label healthcare as a privilege for those who can afford it, which is soon to be less of the populous due to a continued rise in unemployment and decrease in wages, goes against basic principals of any healthy society - community and human decency.
Although I don't agree w/ these protesters, it is good to see them do it in a respectful manner unlike what we've been seeing They allowed him to talk, walked towards the meeting, w/out screaming or chanting. Which had they would not have allowed others, as well as themselves, to listen and be educated.
It's pretty commonplace for the so-called homemade signs to have been made by a lobby or political campaign staff to pass out. The McCain campaign mass-produced those "homespun" signs like no tomorrow.
ummmm...I was there, I am the bald guy with the neon green shirt that can be heard telling the camera crew (at :55 seconds in)...as they were shoving each other "hey, if we can get along, the camera crews cant fight"
I made signs along with many other citizens..the vast majority of those who opposed a govt. takeover were from small local groups that are ones I am involved with..I can tell you first hand, this is grassroots
you may also be interested that I overheard a gentleman that looked much like myself and two black ladies commenting about this opposition was because "we have a black president"..I was in line but leaned forward and asked to speak with him, he refused..the ladies thought I was a trouble maker so they bantered a bit with me about race etc..so when I had the chance to address the crowd and Murphy, I called them out and mentioned they said I/We were racist
I pointed them out specifically and this infuriated one of the ladies..I said it was time to stop the BS and that we disagreed on issues, debate the issues and stop the bull, demonizing your opponent..she was yelling that she wanted to be heard..
I also invited them to dinner of they would like and then continued on with my comments..afterward, I talked to all 3 of them and reconciled our differences..hugged and kissed one of the ladies and shook hands with the fellow
It gets really tired, the same old lying about your opponents..schoolyard BS...we disagree..debate the issues and stop lying to the american people..I think it comes from weak positions or the inability to defend your position..too commonplace and I wont stand for being called a racist..I attend an extremely diverse church and I am a people person..I like everyone, all colors, ethnicities and cultures
How vapid to say such things about those you dont know..My kids wouldnt talk that way
I was right next to you and over heard your conversation. You are correct they we're doing their best to insite anger in just about anyone they could.
Somehow people can't believe that REAL people are actually doing this on their own
Why does everyone need to be categorized by the left side of the aisle?
I am an AMERICAN CITIZEN who cares about my country. And I do not like seeing the way they are discarding our individual rights.
This health care bill is not about health or care .. it is about control. Government will decide what treatments you will get and you will be unable to sue them.

It should read "Who's the racist" not "Whose".
I'm not sure why I'm helping you.

And you're surprised some of the sign makers don't know the difference between "Who's" and "Whose"...?

I'm never surprised by stupidity.

Just as I am surprised that people think that they will be able to get their health care for free.
Now that is real stupidity!

Very nice work. I enjoyed the fact of the grassroots signs vs manufactured signs. I didnt even make the connection..but it is a fantastic point
