does anyone know the name of the song, towards the beginning when they brought the "democracy" "freedom" etc and formed a chain. That song, anyone know the name?
This was not a riot. A handful of windows were smashed by a handful of people. 50,000 others were non-violent, and the police overreacted. There is a reason the mayor and police chief lost their jobs...
i cant watch this movie without shaking the feeling that its trying to show the protesters as the ones who start the fight, like blingluckjustin said. the police started gassing them first. If it's based on true events it should at least not fudge important facts like that.
What a show of popular power! People from all walks coming together, w/o a leader, to say Enough to corporate greed. I saw it. I was there. BTW the police started tear gassing nonviolent protesters HOURS before the first window was smashed. Tellingly, if it wasn't for the "violence" it wouldn't have even been a media blip. Force only respects force. Sad but true.
i really hate events like this, because it seems like whenever something like this happens, its pretty much for the sake of violence instead (at leest 4 the masked dudes who were rioting). what i mean iz that whenever thers an opportunity, alot of people (not including the "non violent" guy) just see an opportunity to be violent and trashing everything, for its own sake.
Just got back from seeing the film in NY and it was great! Support this film if it's in your area, more people need to see this flick especially people that aren't aware of the WTO! The more people go to see it the greater chances of it being released nationally and that will be give the WTO a nice black eye! SUPPORT THIS FILM!!!!!
cont' Now this movie was mainly filmed in Vancouver BC but there were filming in Seattle too. I am an extra in the movie. They asked for volunteers to be in the movie from many union organizations (Job's with Justice and Communication Workers of America just to name a few) I'm personally with CWA, . I think it's great I can't wait to see it tomorrow.
I was there as well, the actual protesting violence started and ended quickly in the first few hours. Eugene anarchists smashed up the place pretty fast and left, "poor trash" destroyed the cell phone store, misguided idiots smashed the Starbucks, and Capitol Hill residents kept the police busy at night. Hill residents probably gave them the hardest times throughout the week. There were some pretty legitimately scary times on the hill when it really did turn into a full riot.
Please, let's make a better world together, we can, not with confrontation, yes with demonstration after demonstration, we are not in sale, we can, we can change this world, we have a few chances.
Violence, or the threat of violence, is the only mechanism the average person has to change the system. Although peaceful protests designed to have the police react violently, is a very valuable technique for exposing the system, and making others reconsider their beliefs on the state.
This movie is awesome, and really acurate. However, it's way underated, and it's impossible to find it anywhere. I watched it when it came out in France, but now, I want to see it again, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone has a link or something?

Oh please!
1. The "cause" people came for was not shutting down intersections.
2. The protests were not organized by some lone-star white guy with a sexy rebel attitude.
3. Starbucks and other corporate chains that had their windows smashed were closed and empty
