It is quite well known that Celine will sing the first verse or so live, and then it seemlessly moves into playback. And she uses it more than "sometimes", it's every single big note on all her big hits. And i could understand it the odd time because i'm sure it would take a massive strain on her voice, but the fact she does it all the time, doesn't annoy me, it disappoints me because she has the greatest vocal ability of any artist going.

the big note is live....you have to watch a video from star academy where she sings all by myself on concert when she was sick....and you can clearly hear it.....she uses playback a lot (the power of love, i drove all night) agreed but not there

I just searched for that performance, and another clip of the same performance appeared where the poster claims you can hear the playback start on the word "ANY" because you can hear 2 voices.

but why would she sing over the playback? i'm not sure but the poster may be a hater and added the 2nd voice (just a guess but who knows) plus I have seen her twice in concert and she sang it differently each time. I know excactly as I really searched for similarities ( I thought she would use it but she didn't)

it's not that she would sing over playback, but that her microphone should have been cut a second sooner. That is what the guy is implying, her microphone was cut later than it should have, hence the 2 voices.

like you said, she is an amazing vocalist, with the most versatile voice. It can be hard to distinguish what is live and what is not. I'm just more and more convinced that she uses playback for the massive notes of her classic hits.

Look the vocal is live on the CD love that. In reality hitting those high notes all of the time messes up your voice, i.e., Mariah Carey and over time you end up not being able to hit those notes anymore.  So to save her voice, she uses a playback. It is what it is bro. She's protecting her instrument.

Yeah i get that. But then it annoys me because, during the last tour for example, there was one month where she was performing 17 days out of the month, and part of me feels that they use playback so she can perform more dates and earn more money.

No it isn't her only source of income, she makes money from the sale of merchandise, her music sales/royalties, dvd sales, and her online store. Not forgetting she made shitloads from her stint in las vegas. Factor in that her tour tickets weren't exactly cheap considering i spent almost €300 on 2 tickets, and it was without doubt the worst concert i'd been to.

it's not about proving herself, if i'm paying to see a singer in concert i expect them to actually sing.

I went to the September 20th concert and it was such an amazing concert!! I cried through almost the entire time b/c it has been my dream for years and years to see Celine in concert. I was just so overcome with emotion just being able to hear her sing live. I mean, I've always loved Celine's powerful voice but it's absolutely incredible to be able to be there and hear her live.

She is the one singer I believe still has a voice, and a beautiful, powerful one at that versus others such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston and I say that being a true Mariah fan. Mariah just doesnt have it anymore, but Celine Dion has maintained all these years and its incredible.

Well the note is slightly lower than her 90's performances, but yes, it's so clear and effortless!

Lower than the studio, yeah, but it's the same as the live ones she used to do back then...Eb5. However, she's gone way higher than even the studio note in other live songs, and does so effortlessly. There's a clip of her belting up to an A below soprano high C in FULL VOICE. I think in "It's a Man's World"....crazy. also an F#5 at the end of some "All By Myself" performance. The studio note was F5. She's done that note so many times before, don't know why she struggles for it in that one song.
