The animal was terrified and needed help - this man got bitten in the process. Cars can be slowed on that hwy with little risk to drivers. Ironic to think that the Canadian drivers zoomed by the frightened creature - national animal of Canada - but a Russian man stopped to help. I applaud him.

I managed to slow down and then stop gradually the approaching traffic by waiving my hand, while on the shoulder, and then made sure that the beaver leave the scene towards the woods.. This definitely reduced the risk of collision
A human is much more caplable of crossing the road than a beaver. A human can see, and judge, albeit not all the time, but pretty much. As shown in this video.
Now what if that human didn't do anything at all. Beaver probably would have gotten hit, damages to cars ensue (im not sure you fully understand how dangerious it is when an animal get's chunked in your front wheel tire on an icy road, you lose control of the steering, it's not easy trust me)
Basically in the end...everybody wins because somebody TOOK ACTION. No dead beaver, no damages to cars, and a human who sucessfully minimized a potentially dangerious situation to cars and the people in them.
