  • I miss web os hope they get another phone for sprint the palm pre 3 at least

  • this phone is underated :(

  • this is probably the best palm pre plus review video i think because you basically go through everything on the phone,,, good job on the video

  • @destfromny thank you!

  • Wats different between palm pre AND palm pre Plus!?

  • @thrustinebeaversucks more ram, wifi hotspot and improvement of the slider

  • @thrustinebeaversucks That's the dumbest question i've heard about this phone! Anyways:

    1. No scroll ball

    2. More apps

    3. Mobile Hotspot

    4. Better slider

    5. Better gestures...i guess

  • @thrustinebeaversucks wifi hotspot is dependent on the carrier.

  • how do you compose a message?

  • How is the media on this phone because i have the blackberry bold and every time you unplug it it has to scan the memory card, which can take forever.

  • i have a palm pre and love it but i think the hardware is getting too old

  • Nice phone, but a dead one none the less.

  • Great review. I too like webOS but am looking for new hardware from Palm. I think a bigger screen with a little more power would make a killer phone.

  • how much is it unlocked now? and do u have to have a 30$ data plan PLZ RESPOND and since i have t-mobile should i just buy the mytouch slide hd2 or buy this and unlock it what would you prefer RESPOND QUICK!!!

  • @killer3878 all cell carriers have a data plan requirement for phones like this, Verizon's is at $30 for 5 gig AT&T is 25 for 2Gig, Sprint's is about the price of Verizon's at 5Gig but a little less.

  • @mrbit10 no i mean like u know how the evo 4g u have to have a data plan unlimited i was asking if this phone has the same requirements

  • @killer3878 hmmm ok, well all carriers have this model, Sprint will not charge you the premium fee of 10 which is for 4G but will require a data plan. This is on Verizon so I am required to pay 30 for unlimited data, at&t lets you pay 25 for 2Gig or am i not understanding your question?

  • @killer3878 lol noooo do u have to have one as in nodata plan just use wifi for everything?

  • @killer3878 ah, if you buy one outright without the carrier you mean? i do not know for sure as the device tries to sync with the carrier BUT you can get past that from what i remember as it had a prompt screen and it also asks you to create a palm profile which has nothing to do with the carrier and just use the device on wifi. So i am fairly certain you can use it without the carrier support. The EVO should work without the carrier on just wifi, but no 4g or 3g

  • @mrbit10

Keep in mind Sprint's unlimited Data plan really is unlimited. That is why I stuck with Sprint for so long.

  • @adobePC AT&T's unlimited data plan for $30.00 is unlimited as well.

  • Do you think HP will fully follow through with WebOS?

  • @TheShowThatSUX no, i do not sadly.

  • does this phone have the 30$ fee on it i dont know what it is call

  • @tiwg77 no extra fees on it

  • @mrbit10 really i found out its called a data fee and if it doesn't that mean i can get it in November YES iam so excited

  • @tiwg77 all cell carriers have a data plan requirement, Verizon's is at $30

  • That's one kick ass phone you got there MrBit. The boot up time was very slow but it looks fun when it's on.

  • What a sexy UI.

  • @mrbit10 OMG Nice ... was it more WebOS, or was it Verizon that made you switch? actually did you cancel the service on the iPhone?

I think I know what you are going to do ... since it comes with the mobile hotspot, are you going to settle on the wifi iPad? Very detailed, unbiased review.

    5/5

  • @ReadWriteAccess yes on version 2 of the ipad i will go wifi, my iphone contract was downgraded to prepay a while back. I have since sold my 3G. My wife will however get the new iphone. I got the Palm Pre more for the OS than the carrier, but i do get an 18% corporate discount at Verizon.

  • @mrbit10 One thing I like about corporate is the discounts ... :O)

I get 17% on Verizon (grand-fathered in) and 20% for AT&T (our standard service) ...funny thing is I get 15 % off of all HP products, and the only thing I have bought over the years is an all-in-one printer that I use as a scanner that I have used twice. I wish I had a discount to newegg :O)

  • Great review Bit!! Can you make a video that hotspot should be free on all carriers? Take care my friend.

  • wish you would have shown more of the internet/ browser. That is where the iphone pwns all competition.

  • @macward66

    Shut the fuck up!

The only thing the iPhone has that my phones do not have is a huge bill. Owned!

  • @macward66 its the same browsing experience, no flash and great speed

  • @ALTIS1988

My Samsung A900 hit the market in 2005. It allowed for tethering at launch. The more people shop around the more they will find the iPhone is ineeded a copy cat. TheiPhone is popular but not inovative. My phone had an app store, web browsing, GPS, Sprint TV, Siruis Radio, Tethering and more.

Mrbit Palm has touch screen plus a hardware keyboard. Everyone will have different needs. The iPhone does not offe the user as many options as as Windows Mobile, Android or even Black Berry.

  • ok your trying something else other then the iphone... I hope the iphone supports tethering soon. I bought only the wifi ipad and need to tether to a phone, if the pam pre does it and the OS4 doesn't ... I might consider the palm pre. I need tethering because it lets you use your phones 3G connection.

  • @HolidayNova it has wifi hotspot for tethering., there are also homebrew application using bluetooth

  • i would so badly get a phone with webos if it had a bigger screen ! and man i so want a physical keyboard, but man that looks pretty small !

  • Great video.

I was wondering how much your Verizon plan costs and what speeds you are getting with Verizon's EVDO REV A?

  • Very surprising that you picked the pre over the droid. But it does look very portable.

  • @GlockNinja

It all depends on the users needs. Windows Mobile 7 should be here soon. I would like to test it out. I think the iPhone may slide out of the number 1 position but who knows for sure?

  • I wish there is an android phone in that form factor. Maybe a little bigger. But wow, I had no idea how good webOS is. People are saying like its the bastard child between a smart phone and a free phone.

    Thanks for the review.

    So, no more iPhone?

  • @korwinblue yea i sold my iphone, my wife is getting the new iphone 4 though.

  • @mrbit10 you gave up your iphone? Thats a mistake.

  • @AppleSoldier yes because people are not allowed to have their own personal opinions and tastes, right?

  • @AppleSoldier You know that AT&T's network sucks. BTW it is his money where he want to spent.

  • @AppleSoldier i gave up the old 3G, my wife will be getting the new iphone though. WebOs is just too cool, i jailbroke my iphone for tasking and it had the same card style but the new tasking on iOS4 via the beta, is eh... in terms of navigation and tasking. Plus its all sand boxed. I will have a vid coming soon on all of this that you may enjoy.

  • @korwinblue Have a look at the Xperia X10 Mini from Sony Ericsson. It has also won some design awards as well.

  • @amex02 Bah, it looks like just another landscape slideout keyboard phone. They're a dime a dozen. I want a portrait keyboard.

  • @korwinblue Okay, I see what you are getting at.

  • nice device to bad theres no palm in australia

  • Nice review! Yeah my fiance has the Pre on At&t. Its very cool. Got a question for you on the WWDC conf. for the iPhone 4 Jobs showed off the video conferencing feature and complained that it was slow cuz of all the users on the network. Networking is not my strong point but it just seemed odd to me that an iPhone would need that much bandwidth to do video conferencing cuz I doubt they just had a cheepo router in that building. I just was wondering if u think jobs was being legit.

  • @salvadordemi there is such a thing as wifi congestion which would slow but not stop a connection, the 3Gs behaved correctly while the iphone4 likely had an issue.

  • @mrbit10 Thanks for the reply and the explanation have a great night!

  • The Palm Pre I would say has to be one of the best phones /because/ of the WebOS. I just wished they had a new phone with updated specs.

  • Man this looks like an awesome device. I thought Palm was pretty much dead but I guess they were working hard in the background.

  • I wish I had WebOS on my HD2. :(

  • @al11588 Yeah, I wish they would allow other manufactures use the OS like Windows Mobile, Android etc...

  • FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting review!!!!!!
