  • Thats a lot of power for a flyback. Are you using a monster flyback from a projection tv or something?

  • Nice arcs. The problem is that you are in resonance (probably sub-harmonic), try to increase the frequency a bit and the open-circuit volage will be lower.

  • Yessir, i have done that ;). I ran at around 43khz and 45% duty cycle, that was when i pushed 1.4kw. This video was around 1kw though. Alot more heat losses though, than the higher frequency.

  • nice :P how much amps was that looked much to the eye :P

  • I have no way to tell how much current it was outputting, but it was about 16 amps at 80 volts input! That is a lot of current. I blew an IGBT while running an 8kw ferrite very low power, so i am going to solder on some of these screw terminal blocks, and use some 16 amp 400v mosfets instead. I need to add more turns on the flyback, to keep the voltage output low! That is just too much voltage.

  • keep your stuff going :P

  • That is A LOT of power from poor flyback :D

  • Notice how i did not draw the arcs out as far as possible. That would allow the voltage to get too high as the load decreases and burn the flyback. I did not want that to happen.
