  • Is this just commercial flights or does it show military flights as well?

  • It's like watching little worker ants :3

  • o kurwa !!!

  • im assuming this is ifr traffic only here? imagine throwing all the vfr flights in as well. that would be impressive

  • Impressionante!

  • que louco isso eim!!!!

  • OH WOW OH WOW

  • its amazing how all this and no mid air crashes occur!!! and u still get sum retards crash their car in a wide open road

  • @ihatehistory You have about a few more thousand square kilometers above Earth than you do on a freeway :)

  • carramba!@amazing stats

  • give the music to this clip! its crying for music...

  • 気持ち悪いような・・・

    でもすごい^^;

  • Amazing*

  • caramba só nos EUA já tem alguns bilhões

  • Europe isn't even visable

  • north america and europe have the most flights

  • ok those ones above greenland are going super fast wats up />

  • since the earth is a sphere, the top of the sphere has a smaller diameter than the middle of the earth, so that means the closer to the north or south pole, the less traveling you have to do

  • Yeah I noticed that too...

they're not superfast cuz u have to consider that earth is similar to a sphere... and near poles lands are closer than over the equator...

This is just a rappresentation that put all the earth in a paper, a square paper!! So that's not right... So the fastest planes fly over the poles because there is less land to fly above... while the slowest is over the Equator... did u understand somethin or not??

  • lol

  • COOOOL

  • Omg

  • Watch During Da Day How All Traffic Comes To America

  • Europe and North America are impressive

  • this can show how fast diseases can spread(for example swine flu)

  • And exactly why it shouldn't be worried about......since we are talking hundreds of cases.

  • HD version is better.

  • Comment removed

  • hes right

  • we need to stop this, its to much :S

  • this is speed up

  • just perfect...

  • I feel Like going on a plane now and vacationing somewhere..

  • Faszinierend und erschreckend zugleich, welches Ausmass der Flugverkehr angenommen hat. Danke für´s Hochladen.

  • wow, looks like ants in the jungle.

  • theez animations mades me day! nao i kno where for to flies to! YESSSS!

  • i like how you can see the activity get higher and lower as the sun rises and sets.

    amazing

  • i just dont think the planes are this visible.. i may believe that this was animated by the data of all the airports, showing how the planes flying, but i dont believe that i can see this many dots from the moon..

  • are you stupid?

  • GG ?

  • i just noticed, Antartica is always in dark

  • wow this is cool

  • And for those of you who says that the planes fly too fast.. The Video represents 24 hours. That's why they fly so freaking fast... They don't - It's speeded

  • ***Info***

No, this is neither bullshit, nor a lie. If you live near an airport you'll see planes landing, and taking off every 2 minute if not more frequent. We live in a global world - These showings are correct!

  • so... according to this....thousands of planes are in the air at once....i never knew that

  • yeah thats right. the morning of 9/11 there was over 1500 planes in the sky over the U.S at the time....

  • There's generally thousands in the air at any time between 6AM and 10PM... in the US alone!

  • i think i see my dot too...

  • how is it bullshit lol? its not fake.

  • While the map may look complex, Dr. Karl Rege tells us he and his team found it surprisingly simple to assemble using data readily available on the internet. We used a commercial website called FlightStats to gather global flight and schedule information, he says. So there was no need to contact the different airlines.

  • Aspiring scientists from the Zurich School of Applied Sciences have built a video simulation that displays the flight path of every commercial flight in the world over a 24-hour period. There isnt much of an application for it, but it sure is cool to look at.

  • energetic fun smart and loves this video

im on cam and bored eR

  • Fake. I don't think this is real because most airplanes aren't even yellow.

  • think about it mate:D

  • Nice. Made even better because the other guys replies didn't even get the joke.

  • Would someone tell me where this vedio come from? I mean that who provide the statistics?

  • US, EURO, and China, the most brightest areas

  • not only are you observant, you have good grammar too!

  • why did you say "Euro"?

  • there's way too many lol...

  • Interesting to see how the passing of mid-night slows traffic as it sweeps across the globe... then activity swarms like bees again as dawn arrives.

  • And this doesn't include all the private aircraft flights not on flight plans... wow.

  • i wonder what the timeline on this is

  • is this realtime?

  • well, do you thing that Boeing 747 can cross Pacific in 5 seconds? No, it's not.

  • at first, i was like what is this? why would anyone want to watch this with no audio. but when i read other people's comment.. it made me restart the video a couple times and wow.. this is just amazing to see how many planes there are going around back and forth!

  • are those fucking airplanes? o.o theren to many

  • beautiful

  • Ooh, neat! I could track the flight path from the flight I took last February! (Sydney to LA and back, which is a bit awkward as it needs to cross from one side to another.) I could use the times to approximate it. VERY cool. Damn, those are busy skies!

  • Actually, realize with a z is British spelling, with an s is USA spelling - check the Oxford English Dictionary.

  • you are incorrect.

the British (and Canadians) spell 'realize' as 'realise', along with similar words such as 'theorize', 'analyze', etc. additionally, 'color (USA)' vs 'colour (UK)' and so forth. on a related note, 'lieutenant' is pronounced 'lef-tenant' by Brits, but it is still spelled the same as in the USA.

feel free to conduct a quick Google search on the matter.

  • British, Irish, Australian and New Zealanders, as well as those in Europe who learn English, pronounce realise with a soft S, and not a zzz sound like out American counterparts and so we spell it with an S.

  • why doesnt anyone wanna fly to north africa?

  • Because lions kill people.

  • that is the kind of comment that makes me want to go back and see why you said what you did.

  • ahhH!! god is pissing into earth!

    evacuate earth!evacuate earth!evacuate earth!evacuate earth!

  • i can piss across the atlantic

  • omg everybody goes to Europe at day & leave at 7ish

  • Fake. I don't think this is real because most airplanes aren't even yellow.

  • ajhahahahha

  • lol.

  • WOW. They just took the locations of the airplanes and represented them as yellow dots.

All airplanes are required to broadcast their locations for a variable number of reasons.

I repeat, those are not the actual freaking planes. Nor is this an actual video of the world.

  • Congratulations, mr. OBVIOUS!

  • all the yellow dots above iraq are bomber planes

  • lol

  • looks like flying in daylight rocks

  • i agree with....

    Crim15

  • good stuff. It is always fascinating to me to see things like that. Just imagine that was just the planes that were flying, and in all of them was problably 40+people... Sometimes I feel soo small.

  • Makes you realise how fast an epedemic would spread

  • Grow up...

  • also spelled realize wrong, why didn't you catch that one?

  • Because realise with an S is how they spell it in Britain; its fine in my book.

  • I LOVE that reply, uponatime!

  • Now that you've seen it, all that open air feels a bit more crowded..

  • It looks like the planet has an infection, and we're it.

    Agent Smith was right!

  • We are all like ants from way above

  • wow cool

  • USA and Europe totally FULL !

  • imagine a conversation with the flight control: "we ar full. try another airport, preferably on another continent."

  • this is cool

  • no way! that really alot!

  • Fake. I don't think this is real because most airplanes aren't even yellow.

  • You're retarded.

The airplanes need to be dots so they can fit nicely on the map; the yellow is to contrast against the dark background.

  • I think he was kidding.

  • hahahahhah good one

  • WOW, amazing job!

  • Look at all the traffic in the US!!! We need a serious re-emphasis on train travel in this country - cheaper, greener, and better for local economies.

  • Awesome!

  • God bless the Internet, a place where even the retarded get to comment on videos.

  • I feel the same way. Thanks.

  • OMG, now THAT is cool!!

  • Not fake at all, created by Scientists at Zurich School of Applied Sciences.

The team mined FlightStats for the departure and arrival times of every commercial flight in the world, then plugged it all into a computer to assemble their simulation. For the sake of simplicity, they assumed every plane traveled at the same speed and every flight took the most direct route to its destination.

  • I doubt that this is fake, and I also doubt they use actual images of airplanes to track their movement from space with satellites, if anything the dots prolly just represent the flights they know from the traffic data, which the administrative bodies for air traffic should have.

  • Fake. I don't think this is real because most airplanes aren't even yellow.

  • lol. xD.

    This is a computer simulation.

lol. Of course the airplanes aren't yellow. If this was an image from space, then 1st there would have been a pretty large air accident. 2nd, if the airplanes were to scale, then one would be as large as a city.

  • I thought it was showing me where the bees fly to.

  • no shit dumbass, its a computer simulation.

  • u r stupid, i can tell by the way u think.

  • this is so fucked.

and they are asking what we can do to prevent global warming?

  • WOW the US is yellow.

Is this good for our natural synchronization?

  • how many commercial flights are there in the world in any given 24-hour period? anybody know?

  • Back in 2000, there were 49,315 a day (taken from Boeing). But now in 2008, who knows...

  • This is frickin' amazing!

  • look at 0:18 a plane crashes!!!

    xDDDDDDDDDDD

  • OMG I cant see The Netherlands.

  • Ja pier..dole i wystarczy/

  • The U.S. is glowing yellow.

  • Looks like everyone is just heading to Europe:)

  • I swear they are all going over my house

  • wow this realy word that it is so much

  • upcoming screensavers??

  • It would be cool if a screensaver would be made for all of the aircraft they have recorded. However, I know Star Alliance has a screensaver which shows the exact same thing, but only for their member airlines:

    staralliance(dot)com/en/travellers/tools_services/screensaver(dot)html

And, they do each airline in a different colour.

  • This is cool, but is it real. China's air traffic is almost as bad as the USA. We're gonna be invaded.

  • shadows kinda creepy

  • A lot of people here did not take physics in school...The earth is round and it rotates! ?military jets...?radar...and green peace...I feel like going to the right wing.

  • impressive, considering how antiquated our radar system (U.S.) is .

  • dude us people in the usa are ruining the environment the most :( ...europe is second...

  • yeah, they have a time difference- when USA east is active, Europe is not:) I guess that unless you are stuck in Amish culture, you need to travel and SEE the world, therefore FLY...

  • fu©k good.EURO,USA and east asia.

  • Holy shit! Look at all that traffic. It's amazing how rarely do planes crash into each other.

  • They look like bugs!

  • awesome but look at the top above the north pole and europe why are those traveling so much faster???

  • Shorter distance. The Earth is round remember

  • LOL!

  • blasphemy!!

  • The areas to the north and south are more stretched and skewed than the middle in order to make a round earth appear flat for easier viewing. The aircraft traveling in those areas appear to be going faster because their distance has been stretched.

  • so they aren't ufos... shame

    :)

  • Now if only we could have that in 1080p... :D

  • That's a lot of gas.

  • I honestly never even thought about that jnmunsey...thanks lol

  • thats crazy

  • Vetteguy182 are you serious? The world isn't flat(and Greenland isn't that big). Think about it...

  • Why are there faster planes in northern canada? Military Jets or something?

  • It'd be even better if its in HD

  • Amazing.... saw this in a wired article
