he made the all jazz guitar players after him free from bebop cliche...doesn't mean bebop is sucks or doesn't have to study.still amazing beautiful music and there is no new music none out of cliche.
solo per vedere chi diceva una stronzata simile ho dato un occhio al tuo canale.....hahahahahaha...fate veramente schifo...incredibile...e ti permetti certi commenti?..ma vai a lavorare va...hahahahaha
Jim Hall is a very quiet player - feedback from his guitar and amp is never an issue. The amp is positioned the way it is so the other guys can hear clearly and lock in, especially when Jim is quiet. Lovin' that bass solo Steve!
Hall is the master of space, melodic chord/line correspondence. He was never going for fast running licks. I would never had the patience to play like this but he is one of my favourte guitarist and musican in standard playing.
Hall is superb. (If you look over behind the bass player you can see Hall's amp positioned across the room to help fight feedback. I wish more hollow body players would pick up on this.)
@ODFGERTERS That's not Hall's amp - that's the bass player's amp - Jim Hall's amp is on the stool between him and the drummer. Recently Hall has been placing his amp on that little bench.
He seems like he'shad back trouble maybe for a long time. A video in the 70's indicated it may have started then. It hasn't affected his guitar playing. Jim hall has constantly progressed and refined his talent for more than 50 years. He's an example of perfect longevity. this being the most recent performance i've seen and it's great. joey baron on drums!
thanks for posting! i had tickets to see jim with bill frisell in grand rapids last year, but he couldn't make it because of the back surgery! russell malone subbed in...and it was a great night of music... but i was still a bit sad that mr. hall wasn't there. it was a pleasure to watch this!

It's kind of cool that a guy like Jim Hall kicks in an octave divider for a bit!
