For this trick, I found when my friends and I are trying to teach people the foot positioning, We just tell them to get a comfortable foot positioning because there really is no one way to put your front foot...

@GryphonKiller22 i dont think it affects it much but skate shoes are designed for skating. they will last longer than normal shoes and have more grip on the board.
