If he wouldn't have grabbed that rope it would have been 2 knock downs. The idea that this fight was some how a "robbery" makes me laugh. If we're gonna go back and play monday mourning quarterback we need to also give manny his two knock downs. With that extra point manny wins no question
@carljum, yea he would've knocked em DOWN again, not knocked out (shows how much u know). Anyways, did u see how Marquez was schooling that ass in the first two?
@carljum, yea he would've knocked em DOWN again, not knocked OUT. (shows how much u know) anyways, did u see how Marquez was schooling that ass til the knock down?
@elvicioklan Schooling his ass? He landed a couple of clean shots during the round, that's hardly "schooling" anyone. Oh and that was until he got knocked down once, and grabbed the rope to avoid a second knock down. It was a very close fight but jmm lost fair and square. He's gonna get murked when he sees pac again anyway. Dude is a warrior but he isn't on that level anymore. He couldn't take manny back then, he's gonna get put to sleep now.
Well, if fighters don't want to be a victim of questionable/bad judging especially in close decision fights like this one, don't leave it in the hands of the judges.
Had JMM stayed on his feet instead of touching the canvas in Round 3, he could've won. Had JMM answered with a knockdown or two in the later rounds, he could've won. Had he mixed up his game by leading and countering, he could've won. Had he piled more damage to Pacquiao's left eye and closed it, he could've won.
@pkbosslac Knockdowns are a huge part of boxing, without them itd be like base ball with no home runs. Jmm lost that fight cause he couldn't stay on his feet, the same reason he lost the first one. And really pac got 2 knock downs but jmm grabbed the rope, that should have been another knockdown so really the fight wasn't as close as the score cards indicated.
@JoeDaWg82 Bad analogy. A homerun still counts for 1 RUN. Unless you have men on base. A knockdown will give you two points, even if its a BAD flash knockdown. He never hurt Marquez. Marquez never lost the first one either. You need to get your facts right. It was a DRAW! Marquez beat Pacman, Most experts agree and the Compubox numbers also show evidence. It's all good though. It was a good fight. Sometimes you just can't go by what the judges say. You can be your own judge.
@pkbosslac Agreed, but if u get "lucky" with a home run like the "second knock down" that didn't happen, u still get the run.
But it's whatever, it was a great fight and I really do like jmm. I wouldn't have been mad if he got the win, it was a close fight. Hopefully their next fight turns out to be half as good.
@JoeDaWg82 I doubt it bro. I think Pac is going to smash my boy Marquez, this time around. Marquez is fucking old now and past prime. I was pissed when Pac won the 2nd fight. I felt Marquez deserved at least a draw. IMO he fought a perfect fight but the knockdown made the difference to me, even though it was more of a flash KD. Still think Marquez should have won. I believe Pac won the 1st fight even though they called it a draw. I don't see the point of them fighting NOW. Pac is in prime.
@pkbosslac I feel u, that's why I said hopefully. I don't really think it will be competitive, jmm doesn't need to be fighting at the higher weights against anyone, much less a primed pac..
But he has earned his shot at revenge and this is the year of the upset so who knows. Jmm does give pac fits every time, maybe his style will carry the day.
@JoeDaWg82 I doubt an upset will happen. Marquez did give Pac fits in the past but I also feel that Pac is not the same fighter. I feel he has improved his game and is a better fighter than the past. Marquez would have to be in top prime to beat him and that's not now. At this point, the only one that could probably beat him is Gayweather but I'm not even sure about that.
i think Sergio Martinez can beat Pacman, i also think junior middleweight is not the optimum weight of pacman because he couldnt even make it to 154 lbs. He only weigh 148 lbs in his fight @ JMW division. i think floyd can also beat Pacquiao if Pacquiao uses a wrong tactic like being overly aggressive or being impatient. but if Pacquiao uses a tactical approach like using foot work, defense and mix up his style etc. then Pacquiao can win. But we never know coz styles makes fights..
@richardmaynigo I agree. I didn't take Sergio Martinez in consideration because I feel that's not a realistic fight. Its a mismatch in my opinion. Pac is too small. Pac is already risking a lot fighting bigger guys. I also agree with you on the May fight. May is the favorite in my opinion but if Pac is able to fight SMART, he has an excellent chance to win. I think he can surprise many people. I feel he has a perfect style to beat May DEPENDING on his tactical approach.
@pkbosslac by the way.. who do you think won in the first encounter between castillo & mayweather? because many people are saying that castillo was robbed in that fight..
@richardmaynigo Hmmm Castillo won to me. It was a dirty fight but I just don't think May did enough to win it. At least a draw. I think Castillo deserved the win. Why?
@pkbosslac every time someone said pacquiao was small, look what happened. i think pacquiao can handle martinez, seeing how margarito isn't too far off in size. then again martinez is faster and smarter than margarito. then AGAIN, pacquiao hits harder and faster than paul williams and is at times more intelligent. it's also possible that martinez might have trouble with pac being a smaller target. i think martinez can win, but not from size. can pacquiao win too? definitely.
@anhell32 martinez is fast, but ac is far faster. if 160 IS too much, what would your opinion be on a weight that's fair for both. i personally think pac can handle 160, but what's your input?
@brandeezy108 i think pac's people will ask 150 and martinez's people 152 . so anyway i think if the fight happens 155 or above . martinez kill him. i think pac is a beast. but under 154. anyway i would be interesting . let me tell you this .if that fight happens and pac wins . umm!!! greatest of all time??? i say yes!! hi from puerto rico!!
ahahaha.. once again.. after their last fight... pacquiao's hand became a demon.. too fast that Marquez didn't see... marquez really got weak legs.. he also manage to land a big 1 on pacquiao (round 2) but Pac only stagger... refuse to fall down... Pacman wins round 3. )
@rich...... why are you comparing the Manny of yesterday and the Manny of Today? Can't you not see his improvements since these fight? You're a hater man.
@eldwende76 hmm.....jmm did better the second fight than in the first, what improvements??? oh by the way, the day after the fight all major Phillipine networks said the philipine analyst had marquez as winner of the fight....wow
now tell me why is pac not throwing hundreds of punches here for like yous pac nut huggers think hes great at and how hes going to beat floyd by throwing all these punches why cos when hes throwing 1 hes getting hit with 2 so if marqeuz can make him mis and make him pay god knows what the master counter puncher floyds going to do to him

hm...in that case all THREE 1stRd KDs in the first fight were all "from being off balance". damn Pac haters always over analyze and find excuses to justify a lost cause.
@Spengler56 JMM not credible, bring him up to junior welterweight division and face margarito first before fighting Pacquiao. I have a very good idea for Marquez, let him fight Juan Manuel Lopez, hahahah.. and i will be there in Vegas to bet for JuanMa Lopez. lol
@vougz28 what big guys? u mean all those big dudes that got to fight him dehydrated on fight night, ?? all catchweights and vacant belts kiddo, all floyd shit is on point, now catchweight, give the pussy his credit, manny is cheating now,

come on ! everyone ! lets have some sportsmanship here... this is sports men there is always a winner and a loser just accept whether you lose or you win dont just argue about it
how many times does manny pacquiao have to knock this mother fucker down? Now u ppl want third fight, Dont u feel sorry for Marquez, cause if u want third fight that means hez ass is goin down again.
That one knockdown hurt Marquez than all three in the first fight combined. That's why I don't want to see Pacquiao Marquez III, cause it would be closer to Pacquaio Morales III, which was kind of a weak trilogy ender.
joesakic91 and JPRichardson are blowing gaskets left and right and both of their opinions won't budge against each other.
Memo to both Philippine and Mexican boxing fans and the fans who say who won the fight: The fans who watched those two go toe-to-toe are the real winners.
@ScorpionYank37 but we still lose because of the dumb ass rhetoric that people post most of pac mans die hard fans wast even watching this fight when it happened a couple years ago or knew who he was.
Speaking of damage done, if one broke down solely the power connect totals Marquez would have emerged with the 6-5-1 edge. Marquez won the second (12-9), fifth (10-4), sixth (14-13), seventh (12-8), eighth (15-5) and 12th rounds (15-10) while Pacquiao captured the first (8-4), third (9-7), fourth (13-9), ninth (11-9) and 11th rounds (11-10) while the 10th round was even at 13.
Marquez was already cut thanks to money's headbutt, that's all my point. You said there were two cuts, but there was only one that was produced by a headbutt by money pacquiao and the gap obviously got worse during the subsecuent rounds. On the other side, the cut on money's face was produced via a clean punch to the face.
There were two cuts. One at the side of JMM's right eyelid that caused from an accidental clash of heads in Round 7, the 2nd cut on JMM's right eyelid in Round 9 was from a punch.
And don't say the 1st cut got worse. Nacho Bernstein fixed it well. The 2nd cut meanwhile, Bernstein had his handsfull.
As for the Pacquiao cut, Pacquiao's corner did a great job with his cut.
And keep giving me thumbs down, my points keep getting stronger and yours weaker.
You failed miserably when I asked you to show a single picture with the "two cuts" you refer to. I showed you to several pics which show the SINGEL CUT PRODUCED BY A HEADBUTT BY BULL MONEY PACQUIAO. What else do I need to prove?
the CompuBox statistics backed Marquez's assertion that he should have gotten the nod. Though Marquez threw 108 fewer punches (619-511), he landed 15 more (172-157) overall, and the 34-year-old Mexican also amassed a 16-punch edge in power connects (130-114) while throwing just five more (310-305). The only category Pacquiao out-did Marquez was in connected jabs (43-42), but the challenger had to throw 113 more of them (314-201) to do so
Judging criteria: defense, EFFECTIVE aggression, ring generalship & CLEAN punching. If you want your own rules, go create your own sport. Marquez won and deserved the decision. Ignorant asshole..
I don't blame anyone. Marquez won in the eyes of most boxing fans and experts around the world and I am still celebrating. I am not trying to change the judge's stupid decision. Nor your unobjective, ignorant position.
Celebrating what? A imagination victory?! Be realistic.
Were the boxing experts and fans around the world who say Marquez won assigned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to score fights at ringside? Hell no.
At the end of the day, the actual results come from the judges who were hired by the NSAC, not boxing fans nor experts.
"Celebrate" all you want bubba, the actual result still stands. Manny Pacquiao wins via split decision over Juan Manuel Marquez.
At the end of the day, Marquez still won and that's enough reason for us to celebrate. I hope your demi-god monkey pacquiao falls victim of some gangsterjudges in the near future (although, for what I've heard, he will most likely retire after DLH "fight") so you know what I am talking about.
At the end of the day, you can say Marquez won all you want, but the actual result still reads: Pacquiao wins via Split Decision over Marquez. You need to accept it and get over it. JMM needs to learn his lesson and any boxer who lost close decisions in their careers: don't leave the fight in the hands of the judges.
And Pacquiao is not retiring after the Oscar De La Hoya fight. He's retiring in August 2009 according to WorldNews.
JPrichardson- Ring Magazine awarded the belt to Pacquaio but did not believe he won the fight.....u are such an idiot...ring magazine is own by GoldenBoy promotions and JMM is one of them, so thats the reason why they didnt think manny won....when are gona growup dude? or maybe u are a child, those punch stats doesnt matter....get a life and change ur sport if u dont like wat u see,

that knockdown was more from being off balance then the punch itself. but falling to the canvas does jolt your equilibrium a little bit.

Yeah, and manny didnt fell while off balance xD

Hey JPRichardon, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO FUCKING ADD YOU IDIOT!
if pac won rounds: 1,3,4,9,10,11(1 more point for the 3rd round knockdown) then his score is = 114
If marquez won rounds: 2,5,6,7,8,12 then his score is = 113
Overall score: 114-113 Pacquiao is the WINNER!

Same thing with Marquez when Pacquiao wanted a rematch after that 2004 draw, but Marquez and Nacho Beristain took a fight against Chris John instead.
So, they're both ducking each other.

@joesakic91 Maybe so. But Manny is ducking Marquez now and fighting weaker opposition like Clottey, Margarito and Mosley.

JMM nd MAB got trauma the first tym they fought Pacman thats why it took a long tym to take a rematch, but when they met Pacman again they juz embarrassed for the 2nd tym,
Pacman never touch canvas any round of that fight
JMM nd his company juz took a political boxing strategy thats why the first fight went to a controversial Draw, after that Pacmans team asking for the rematch but the boxing committee nd JMMs team juz ignore it. They r all faggot

That one knockdown hurt Marquez than all three in the first fight combined. That's why I don't want to see Pacquiao Marquez III, cause it would be closer to Pacquaio Morales III, which was kind of a weak trilogy ender.

JPRichardson 3 years ago
Speaking of damage done, JMM's cut on his right eyelid from a punch was way worse than Pacquiao's eye gash.
Pacquiao's cutmen did a great job on his cut while JMM was in a bloody mess.
Brutal cuts and close decisions go hand in hand.

the (single) cut above Marquez eyelid was product of a headbutt by money pacuiao in round 7, you dumbass.

JPRichardson 3 years ago
Did you see the clip?! You didn't.
And keep giving me thumbs down, my points keep getting stronger and yours weaker.

the CompuBox statistics backed Marquez's assertion that he should have gotten the nod. Though Marquez threw 108 fewer punches (619-511), he landed 15 more (172-157) overall, and the 34-year-old Mexican also amassed a 16-punch edge in power connects (130-114) while throwing just five more (310-305). The only category Pacquiao out-did Marquez was in connected jabs (43-42), but the challenger had to throw 113 more of them (314-201) to do so
JPRichardson 3 years ago
Sure, according to Compubox, Juan Manuel Marquez landed more shots than Manny Pacquiao.
However, Pacquiao kept coming forward and forced JMM to backup and he did more quality damage than JMM.

Judging criteria: defense, EFFECTIVE aggression, ring generalship & CLEAN punching. If you want your own rules, go create your own sport. Marquez won and deserved the decision. Ignorant asshole..
JPRichardson 3 years ago
Oooooh, ROFLMAO! I'm an ignorant asshole. LOL!
I'm not making up rules JPRichardson.
Marquez fought well, but Pacquiao did more with those things.
Therefore, Pacquiao is the winner.
You pwning yourself and you're directing your beef towards the wrong person.
Don't blame me. It ain't my fault.
Blame the two judges who scored it for Manny Pacquiao: Duane Ford and Tom Miller.

I don't blame anyone. Marquez won in the eyes of most boxing fans and experts around the world and I am still celebrating. I am not trying to change the judge's stupid decision. Nor your unobjective, ignorant position.
JPRichardson 3 years ago
Celebrating what? A imagination victory?! Be realistic.
Were the boxing experts and fans around the world who say Marquez won assigned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to score fights at ringside? Hell no.
At the end of the day, the actual results come from the judges who were hired by the NSAC, not boxing fans nor experts.
"Celebrate" all you want bubba, the actual result still stands. Manny Pacquiao wins via split decision over Juan Manuel Marquez.
joesakic91 3 years ago

At the end of the day, Marquez still won and that's enough reason for us to celebrate. I hope your demi-god monkey pacquiao falls victim of some gangsterjudges in the near future (although, for what I've heard, he will most likely retire after DLH "fight") so you know what I am talking about.
The celebration goes on!
JPRichardson 3 years ago
At the end of the day, you can say Marquez won all you want, but the actual result still reads: Pacquiao wins via Split Decision over Marquez. You need to accept it and get over it. JMM needs to learn his lesson and any boxer who lost close decisions in their careers: don't leave the fight in the hands of the judges.
And Pacquiao is not retiring after the Oscar De La Hoya fight. He's retiring in August 2009 according to WorldNews.
