This challenge is crazy!!!! I have spent a good two hours trying to get past the fight scene and it is so infuriating when you impress 98 or 99 nobles. Good job, I am trying my best and am still a min and a half behind your time...
In other news, not only did I finally re-complete this segment with the 100 nobles AND the potion from the first segment I'd missed... I shaved off six seconds, so I have 18:35 now.
OK, I did part 1, then got 100 nobles without much trouble on part 2... then I found out I missed a single potion in part 1 and had to start over. Since then I've gotten 99 nobles about five times... sigh.
@vandal357 Read the description. Or the video title. This isn't a "let's play," it is a video walkthrough for making a perfect save file. To be perfect, he needs to get all missable items AND reach the end of Memoria in under twelve hours... that means skipping text as fast as possible.
It fucking sucks when you get the buttons right and then suddenly make ONE single little mistake; everytime that happens I am like "ok screw this I stop playing now".
FF9 is back on ps3 and I'm stuck with 99 nobs liking my performance almost everytime. This minigame is ruining my time :( Awesome game though I must find my old merory cards and see if I can get the data from them so I can woop ozma. Did skip rope king and 100 nobles before dunno how the fuck I managed it before lol. ' )
okay, i really dont get this. I've watched some other videos on youtube and im definitely hitting the button faster than them and im still only getting 98/99 nobles impressed. At one point i impressed 99 nobles 6 times in a row, wtf am i doing wrong?
Whats the affect for the perfect game for not getting 100 Nobles?? Just the fact that you did it? Cuz I got mad at it and just skipped it. That really a big deal?
i have a problem, when i try to load up my ps one game on my ps2, it is slow and sound too is slow, and i have a black large line in the lower part, please help!!!
I remember when i first started out, i was like what the hell is SFX? Pyro sounds like it can light em up, gogo pyro! (0 damage)! What the fuck? GOGO POLY! (0 damage)
I'm playing on an emulator so I can slow the game speed down considerable (as much as a frame a second if I wished) which makes such timing-based minigames a breeze. I got 100% on my first run through this.
Although you've probably gotten it by now, I'll just answer you `-`
The fight does not affect the noble count. You have to get 100% accuracy on the button pressing and it has to be fast enough. A little less than 1 second reaction time should do it. It is very frustrating though getting all the buttons pressed and still hesitating on one button on accident. Happens to me whenever I do this, all the time. ):
umm, excuse me here... i've been trying to nail the "100 nobles" part for, i dunno, 6-7 times, and i got 91 nobles 4 times and a 99(!) nobles once. I never got the 100 to come. How DO you people do it? i just really wanna know.
can i get Excalibur 2 even if i can't impress the 100 viewers. This trick is to unlock something in the game or just to make it perfect?. Please let me know as fast as you can. 5* on your videos man.
The only requirement to get Excalibur 2 is getting to a certain point in the final dungeon with under 12 hours played. If you want/need more information on it you should just google it :P
Wow when i had this game 5 years ago on the PS1 i would get 100/100 nobles *every* single time, but playing it now on an emulator (I sold my PS) i cant get higher than 93 nobles, and this is making no mistakes and getting 50/50 commands right every time, this is a LOT harder to do on a keyboard!
Actually it is the keyboard... playing this challenge on emulator is a hellalot harder than on PS1, I live in europe so I don't have any other choice >_>.. I wouldn't worry , I'm 17 ang I also used to get 100 nobles everytime on PS1. (I'm not imposing we are better or anything than others, it's just that u get a little more confused with a keyboard). Kudos to 1whoistornapart, U fucking rock, and u rock at playing guitar too ^^
lol...any tips on the battle scene part? I can get the battle scene down perfect but does the King Leo battle determine the Nobles Count? I'm about to just skip this part, you're way to good!
I would be able to do this challenge if it werent for this minigame. I have to quit this challenge because I simply cant get 100. Ive tried at least 200 times (yes 200). Quiting of a minigame in disk 1... sigh i lose
I did it 100 nobles but it took me my third attempt on the run would you suggest redoing it till i got it on the first or going with if from there my save time is 19:34
I would say try it again and if it proves to be too much trouble just continue with the save you have now. That time can be made up later if necessary.
was it just me or when you had to move left/right in the fight with blank, did it fuck you over for like a split second cause you had to readjust your eyes?
Yeah that, plus the rhythm changes. If you ask most people I think they'd say the inputs directly after a left/right movement are the toughest to get correct, so it's not just you ;)
I think my E2PG run is already at an end. It took me like 20 tries just to get 95 nobles happy, and it took like 30 more for me to get up to 96. I just don't have the reflexes to do it fast enough and not screw up. All those mini-games in FFX that people complain about, like the lightning and the butterflies, those are easy for me. This is the worst. Just the worst. The designers of this game were evil to make it this hard to get everything missable.
the first method for tackling this minigame is how i got 100 nobles. the pattern of buttons they have you press is not completely random, and there is some degree of predictability to it. so, what i did was write down one sequence of buttons, then keep trying until the same exact sequence (or something very close to it) came up and i was well prepared to press the buttons quickly enough to please all 100 nobles. it goes without saying that this method takes a very, very long time to do.
the second method i saw on a japanese web site- it involves holding one controller between two people. one person is responsible for the d-pad and the other for the buttons. they say the task is much easier when you're only responsible for the half the work- thereby leaving you required to have two people with fast reflexes instead of one person with godlike reflexes.
the third suggestion i've heard is to cover the screen with a piece of paper with holes cut out over the key prompts, so you aren't distracted by the rest of the movement on the screen. maybe this works for some but i didn't find it all that helpful.
fuck yeah i downloaded onto my computer and i got 100% and now i got to the part where you leave dali on the airship and now it freezes on my computer.......HOW DOES IT DO THAT WHEN I TOOK IT FROM THE INTERENET and nothing is wrong with the file
Uhh just fyi, the battle isn't entirely different each time, alot of them follow a sequence depending on your timing and which button sequence it is that starts up...
like... I consecutively got
AXAXAXAXAXAXAvXvX^AXV[] as a startup and memorized it when it came up... so yeah (A=triangle)
oh right, the sequence changes if you get something wrong, or are off by the timing required
In case you're still having emulator problems, you will need to use ePSXe 1.52 instead of 1.60 for that part. Actually, just use 1.52 for all Squaresoft games and save yourself a bunch of headaches.
Haha I liked this run so much, I decided to watch it all over again.
I have been wondering around, that is the Moonstone a missable? I didn't find it out of the FAQ... Something missable missing (LOL) on the FAQ..? Lol ;) But is it? I think it is. s_s
You need the Moonstone for the perfect game because it is a rare accessory
You need the 10,000 Gil for the Cotton Robe trick, which is needed to buy strategic equipment for the level one game and missable equipment for the perfect game.
If you got 99 that means you were too slow on one of the presses. As with most challenges in life, the only advice I can offer is to keep practicing and don't give up!
Whoa I just got me IX and this video so awesome. Right now im just using it as a walkthrough for items if thats ok. When I give the game a second go I'll definitely try to get Ex. II nice vid btw.
Hey does... anyone know what the name of the Final Fantasy 9 victory music is? I can't find it anywheres. If anyone could give me alink to it or the name of the track that'd be awesome. Thanks.
Dude your gonna laugh at me... but I finally beat the stage fight... I'm so fucking happy... I stared at the screen almost long enough to have to restart when I got it lmao.
It takes some resetting to get it on the first try, just try to react as fast as possible, but you can't miss one in order to get 100, accuracy is more important than speed.
It breaks down like this. Blank gives you 50 commands, each one is worth two points (50 x 2=100 nobles). The first point comes from pressing the correct button, of course. The second point comes from entering it quickly enough. If you hesitate, even if you press the right button, you'll lose one point (one noble)
I'm trying a replay of FFIX (because your vids showed me how much junk I missed) and let me tell you, that minigame is absolute torture since I got the worst trigger finger ever. I salute for getting it on your first try.
10000 Gil and a Moonstone. There are only a limited amount of Moonstones in the game so if you don't get it then it's obvious that you missed one. The 10000 Gil is necessary for the Cotton Robe Trick, without which there would be no way to buy all the missable items you need.
PS1 emulators can be found anywhere. You can probably find disk images on BitTorrent or something. Don't ask me for things like that though, this was all done on console.
I skip the movie by opening the disc tray. I press start to reduce the load times. The timer doesn't run while the game is paused, but the console can still load some of the data.
It seems to me that on your first try they are a bit more lenient. You basically have until the previous animation finishes to input the next command, so stay calm and don't rush yourself. Moving left and right often throws people off because the next prompt seems to appear quicker, that's where it's important to maintain your rhythm. Good luck, doing it the first time is the hardest, after that you shouldn't have much trouble doing it again.
for some reason i can't seem to impress all of the nobles. i gone through the whole sequence without messing up but theres always like 1 or 2 nobles who weren't impressed. is it more so keeping a rhythm than going fast?
Once again, very nicely done! I think the more you impress all 100 nobles the easier it becomes. Out of curiosity, do you know which is faster, Pyro or Poly?
i did it \o/ in the 3rd attempt, my time is at 23:09 after the save, how bad is it ?

If you got 99 that means you were too slow on one of the presses. As with most challenges in life, the only advice I can offer is to keep practicing and don't give up!

whats the music that plays during the battle for the nobles
Mana8D 4 years ago
Either "Feel My Blade" or "Vama' alla Flamenco" depending on which battle you're asking about.

Hey does... anyone know what the name of the Final Fantasy 9 victory music is? I can't find it anywheres. If anyone could give me alink to it or the name of the track that'd be awesome. Thanks.
BTW nice job on 100 there, I can never do it.

Dude your gonna laugh at me... but I finally beat the stage fight... I'm so fucking happy... I stared at the screen almost long enough to have to restart when I got it lmao.

I love your vids man.. I'm about to start a run myself today. I was wondering... how many MCs did you use over the course of your saves?
LongLiveJM 4 years ago
Two, but about halfway through I started overwriting the old ones. I think the final total was ~60 slots.

It takes some resetting to get it on the first try, just try to react as fast as possible, but you can't miss one in order to get 100, accuracy is more important than speed.
sorcerousstabber 4 years ago
You got to 100? My highest was only 96.
vellure 4 years ago
It breaks down like this. Blank gives you 50 commands, each one is worth two points (50 x 2=100 nobles). The first point comes from pressing the correct button, of course. The second point comes from entering it quickly enough. If you hesitate, even if you press the right button, you'll lose one point (one noble)

Ahhh that helps... But really i have no plans of repeating the game. Congratulations though. I don't know anyone else who ever reached the 100 mark.

I'm trying a replay of FFIX (because your vids showed me how much junk I missed) and let me tell you, that minigame is absolute torture since I got the worst trigger finger ever. I salute for getting it on your first try.
shinkaito 4 years ago
did you use the analog directional buttons or the stick in the mini-game? imo it is easier with the stick
TrustyBell 4 years ago
I used the d-pad. But I've never had much trouble with this mini-game.

you are my hero for getting all 100 nobles...I've been trying it now for 2 weeks, still trying!

What do you get if you impress all the nobles? and why is it that important?
IiIbao 4 years ago
10000 Gil and a Moonstone. There are only a limited amount of Moonstones in the game so if you don't get it then it's obvious that you missed one. The 10000 Gil is necessary for the Cotton Robe Trick, without which there would be no way to buy all the missable items you need.

how do you download final fantasy on your pc?
and a ps1 emulator?
r3pure 4 years ago
PS1 emulators can be found anywhere. You can probably find disk images on BitTorrent or something. Don't ask me for things like that though, this was all done on console.
1whoistornapart 4 years ago
wow nice done!!!!!

how do you skip a movie by pressing start?
r3pure 4 years ago
I skip the movie by opening the disc tray. I press start to reduce the load times. The timer doesn't run while the game is paused, but the console can still load some of the data.

thanks for the advice i think i'll just practice that and get it mastered before i try to play for a perfect game
XTC2525 4 years ago
It seems to me that on your first try they are a bit more lenient. You basically have until the previous animation finishes to input the next command, so stay calm and don't rush yourself. Moving left and right often throws people off because the next prompt seems to appear quicker, that's where it's important to maintain your rhythm. Good luck, doing it the first time is the hardest, after that you shouldn't have much trouble doing it again.
1whoistornapart 4 years ago
for some reason i can't seem to impress all of the nobles. i gone through the whole sequence without messing up but theres always like 1 or 2 nobles who weren't impressed. is it more so keeping a rhythm than going fast?
XTC2525 4 years ago
Yeah this game has been keeping me away from FFXII for a while, I've still yet to finish it :(
1whoistornapart 4 years ago
Very awesome job!!
I will also do a speedrun when I starts to play FFIX again!

Once again, very nicely done! I think the more you impress all 100 nobles the easier it becomes. Out of curiosity, do you know which is faster, Pyro or Poly?
InvincibleGarland 4 years ago
I believe Pyro is slightly faster.
